Not all too bad

My friends and I dropped in on a Tuesday at 10AM and plenty of lanes were open. Some unique features of LPRG were the shooting lanes were protected by walls and had customizable target distances from 25-100 yards for individual rifle lanes, and spotting scopes in every lane. The range officers are great and look out for everyone's saftey. Problems only arise when people forget to respect their firearm. Livermore Rod and Gun is a well organized range with spacious lanes. Highly recommended for a fun and relaxing environment to get some range time.Pro tip: grab some shims in the bucket at the entrance to the live range to shore up your target stand. Ask a RO if you can't find it.

Great range, great staff. This place has areas to shoot pistols as well as rifles. The staff is respectful. In cases where they are raising their voices at shooters, often times it is for safety purposes. I respect ranges that do this because it's important for people, especially new shooters, to understand safety. Only downside to this place is that they do not sell ammo, and you would have to go down the hill to a gun store, but be sure to have a California Real ID or Passport.

I finally took the plunge and ventured out. Now , I will say I was not brave enough to venture out during the weekend, but I did go out during the week.I had watched their video before arriving, so I didn't screw up and get chastised (meh, it's what folks say). Folks were very friendly from check in (weekdays , only had a single person, so not the 2 window deal), she was pleasant. The folks on the range were courteous and approachable and not jerks at all. Heck I was there when they just put the range to cold and the guy said, if you can put your weapons back in the car, you can come in and get your target setup!! YES! So I didn't have to stand around for another 22-25minute hot session (I thought that was courteous, not breaking their rules, kept things safe, but allowed me to setup so I was shooting in no time).Communication is very clear, warnings hot/cold ranges, wear your ear protection, keep yo #$%$ pointed down range etc.I prefer shooting outside, as the ventilation is obviously better and some of the larger caliber weapons aren't blowing holes in my ear drums at the sound reverberates off the walls like in indoor ranges.Ya, you should not be nervous , the folks are nice, helpful and they have lots of stuff for you to dial in your shootingYes there is something to be said having to sit for rifles and stand for hand guns. My shotgun is not meant to be shot sitting down, and I won't ask an intruder if they will take a second, so I can take a seat, as it's how I've practiced shooting. So I will need to figure out if there are other options (not skeet, this is not a skeet shotgun!).I'll be back, convenient, plenty of space, clean and well run!

If you are into shooting sports, do yourself a favor and visit LPRGC. LPRGC is open to the public unless there is a specific member event day. This is one of the better/nicer gun clubs in the east bay/central valley area. It is also one of the largest clubs and offers several different shooting disciplines. The parking lot is extremely large and would have no problem accommodating a large shooting event. The facility itself is very nice and in great shape. LPRGC offers trap shooting stations, Olympic bunker, and a pistol/rifle range towards the back of the facility. I have only used the trap shooting facility. In regard to trap shooting, they have nine trap fields with standard trap, doubles and continental. The trap fields are equipped with voice activated clay throwers. Trap hours are as follows:Wednesday 10am-5pm, Thursday 5pm-9pm, Sat/Sun 10am-5pm. Cost per round for non-members is $11. LPRGC is also very active by hosting several events throughout the year. Refer to their website calendar for event dates. Memberships are available and come with perks. You will pay a $200 initiation fee and annual dues are $200. A members immediate family can shoot at club member pricing. If you are into shooting sports, this is a must see location.

Had a great day at the Livermore rod and gun club. Fred, Maddie, and Bill were excellent advisors. I had just picked up a new pistol and wanted to get comfortable and familiar with it. The guys offered shooting tips to improve my accuracy significantly. I was asking for the help and they were willing to give it. They are definitely strict when it comes to range etiquette. Most people should take this as a good thing because it's your safety. Too many people come in here not knowing any of the rules, or not understanding basic gun safety principles, so when you hear them talking sternly to somebody just know that it's for your protection. Typically, people don't even realize what they're doing and are pointing the gun in all sorts of crazy directions. So, if this is you, just take a bite of humble pie and know that you need to be a smarter safer gun owner. At the range you're putting many people's safety at jeopardy. Anyways Fred was spectacular and got me shooting 25 yd groupings with my pistol. I am really looking forward to coming back! What a wonderful shooting environment!

This is by far my go to place for shooting range. Safety officers are very helpful here. Once I had my new AR-15 having issue with feeding the rounds, they help me to find lubricant for the rounds and problem solved. They did a great job running and organizing the place, and making everyone to feel safe with simple and clear instructions. They are also generous with opening multiple shooting lines, one for each of my gun, so no need to switch back and forth. We are getting a Jericho 941 R next and will be testing it here. Also, there is no time limit, you can stay as long as you want until they close.

I love going to this place. This is one of my top gun range places to go to. The location is very nice. There are lots of open space and farm/winery area. This place is almost peaceful if there wasn't loud guns shooting. This place has skeet shooting on the bottom of the range and then the second portion is the rifle and handgun shooting on top of the mountain. I haven't been to the skeet shooting area and I would like to try it one day. The place I go to is the top of the mountain where they do the handgun and rifle shooting. They have a lot of space (shooting bays) and the best thing about this place are the people. Compared to other places I've been to, these guys are one of the nicest and helpful people I've ever met. I have experience staff helping me correct my form and help me establish a good shooting form/grip and they give me tips on how to shoot my target better. They are also very polite when they need to correct you or even if you're doing something dumb, they still do their best to be nice and kind to you unlike other places, so if you're looking for a gun range spot, check this place out. I think that you guys will enjoy it very much. I give the spot a 9/10.Also make sure to fill out the waiver form online beforehand so that your session can be expedited and you don't have to fill out any forms when you get there.

This rod & gun club is very well run. The property is always pristine , the management and staff are friendly and have the utmost respect for the sport. We have used both the trap and the rifle/pistol range and have never been disappointed. They have several voice activated trap houses (I think I counted 13) and one Olympic bunker. The trap range is well set up and is great wether you're popping in on a whim for some practice or attending a big event like the annual Golden West Grand. The team here keeps everything on point. From the manager Bryan, to the friendly greeting at check in from Sally , to all the score keepers/ground crew and the super sweet office staff, they don't miss a beat. Wether your new to the sport or a veteran , everyone gets treated with the same respect. Highly recommended checking it out. Once you experience this place you'll be a fan for life. Bonus: the views are amazing. Mentionable Amenities: RV HookupsFood trucks and BBQ at big events In those hot months the beautifully manicured shade trees are your friend. Well kept restrooms Air conditioned club house & bar (for after hours and after shooting obviously).Cold drinks & chips sold at check in/cashier Free earplugs and eye protection to borrow if you forgot yours. Be safe, help keep the sport alive by introducing someone new to it and have fun! The Wills Family

I literally just got off the phone with the supervisor Don. This is the ultimate go to shooting range for all you gun enthusiast throughout the Bay Area.Me and my buddy Michael were there yesterday morning to do some shooting and Michael was breaking in his brand new Fabrique National AR-15 rifle. We didn't know that a rifle scope was required so the rangemaster's informed us that Michael couldn't shoot his rifle until a scope was put on there.Michael went to Solar Tactical, Livermore which was about 2 miles away and bought his scope and had installed. Rangemaster Frank gave him the green light to go out and get it and allowed Michael to come back without charging us any additional entrance fees.Furthermore, Frank went above and beyond by helping Michael zero in his Vortex red dot scope by directing him on how to zero it in. Frank did the same thing for me a few months back when I brought my Savage 22 Win Mag rifle and Sig Sauer 10/30 Whiskey scope.Frank will also go down with you while we change out our target's in order to see where we can improve on our shooting skills and gives us all very helpful hints so we can improve.
