I took a Marin diesel class today from henz. He's an amazing teacher and really knows his stuff I highly recommend it it was definitely worth some money and taking the day off of work to drive to Sausalito from Sacramento. I feel confident and understanding the systems of a Marine diesel, and even more confident about troubleshooting an issue.

So far I have ordered one cooling hose for my 34 year old Yanmar 2gmf engine, from List Marine. Seems easy enough, but I provided them with the wrong part number and they took the time to double check the engine model and year, and correct my mistake, sending me the correct part. They have also been great with advising me on another issue regarding sacrificial anodes. I really appreciate the time they have taken to answer my questions.

When I had a problem with my sail drive, my boat guru said, "Take it to List Marine." This was the best advice I could have gotten. Hans List took care of everything. He helped me with the manufacturer, who ended up footing the bill to replace my sail drive. I got great service, a fast turnaround, excellent communications, the best service imaginable, and always a personal touch. Hans knows who the customer is, and he is on YOUR side. He earned a loyal customer for life. If you need your marine diesel serviced, go straight to List Marine. Quite simply, they're the best!

We just came away from an all day Diesel 101 training at List. What a useful day! Hans was a really great teacher and this family owned business really delivers. I would not hesitate to take our sailboat (with its Universal engine) to List. I trust them and like them. Hans, thanks for the education and service you provide. I feel like I now really understand how our Diesel engine works and I feel prepared to troubleshoot and fix most usual problems. Thanks List!

This is as good as it gets!! These guys rock!! Hans and Dan totally awesome service!! My husband and I arrived from Vancouver with one engine down. The guys helped us order parts which came in less than a day. Once we got them they could not help us for a while since there were 30 boats ahead of us. My husband could do it but we didn't have the proper tool. These guys set us up with the tools and a work bench to do our own!!!!! Wow just wow and no charge!!!! We would recommend them to everybody!! Thanks Guys!!!

This crew is the best! Did not know if they worked on diesels other than Yanmar, outstanding job, engine looks practically like new and am reassured by their service that single engine commercial charter service is in good shape. Highly recommend !

I've known the List family , Tom, Hans and Jessica for many, many years and have always thought the world of them.I've never used their services as I've always done my own engine work. Recently I was helping a friend with a Universal diesel and ran into some issues that stumped not only myself, but other local mechanics as well. I called on Hans. He diagnosed and resolved the issue in a couple hours. Spare the details ,but it was a tricky one. I couldn't believe. Top Notch. This business is very busy ( a good sign) so you need to book a ways out and follow up on occasion. You're planning and patience will be rewarded with top rate mechanical work that only years of industry experience can provide. And insist Hans bring along his assistant / 6 year old daughter Penny. She'll break your heart as she did mine.

I've found List Marine difficult to work with and disrespectful of the quotes they provide. They have repeatedly refused to put appointments on their calendar, saying that they are too busy to do so. You have to call back later closer to a fictional date when work might be possible, only to be told the same thing again. Clearly there's some mysterious prioritization logic at play here.My last project with them doubled in price vs. the quote, and I never received a call to seek approval or explain any reasoning prior to the work being done. Most recently, despite planning and confirming an appointment via phone 5 weeks in advance, they lost my appointment and then refused to entertain the possibility that they'd made any mistakes, insisting the fault was all mine. Following that event they again refused to put a date on the calendar.I love to support family businesses and I know List have a great reputation in the bay area, but there are some basics about communication and treatment of the customer that make me want to encourage Yelpers to do like I've done and take their business elsewhere.
