Hiked Sat 3/13/21 at Lime Ridge Open Space, 47 min drive from my house in Fremont. Free parking in medium size parking lot & on the street. Across the street is Boundary Oak Golf Course where we used their bathrooms (by Taphouse) cuz none at Lime Ridge. We turned Right at Ohlone Trail gate, passing houses in Walnut Creek. Saw a nice pond with lots of water, climbed up, was on private property land, had to go under the fence to get on park land. Did Manzanita Trail, Lime Ridge Trail, went by a bench and near it is summit marker elev 1,986, Blue Oak Trail, Ohlone Trail, went under tunnel, Lone Oak Trail, Savannah Trail, saw Bayberry Pond (was Dry), went through a lower tunnel, Blue Oak Trail. Ohlone Trail & Ygnacio Canal Link if u climb up a few time and keep going you'll find a labyrinth! We saw it didn't go down to walk it, that would have been nice! Blue Oak Trail to Ohlone Trail back to car.Long day we started 9:10am finished 3:30pm.

I love me some Lime Ridge. Why it's taken me so long to review this beautiful open space is beyond me. But I'll tell ya that I hold this place near and dear to my heart. This is one of my local faves. The hiking trails seem to the endless. In late winter and early spring, the hills are so amazingly green that it looks fake. I've hiked here during all seasons, day and night. It's always beautiful here, even in the dead of hawt ass summer. I just LOVE dem hills! The hillsides cannot be touched at Lime Ridge. My favorite trail to hike here is the California Riding and Hiking Trail. I usually start at the intersection of the Ygnacio Canal and Contra Costa Canal Trail near Citrus Ave. This trail starts off with a long and steep hill. Many runners train on this hill to increase their endurance. I love it because it challenges me. I'll usually start here and loop around through a couple of other trails. What's nice is that you can go on for miles or just get a short quick hike in. There's so much versatility. The best time to come is during the spring. The spring greens and bright wild flowers and so abundant during this time. Plus, it won't be scorching hot like it is during the summer time. If I do decide to hike here in the summer, it's usually early in the morning or right before sunset. There's absolutely no shade on these trails, so take precautions and bring lots of water. Also, the summertime can bring bugs and those bloodsucking mosquitoes. Bug spray in the summer as well as sunscreen will keep your skin happy.Lately, the trails have been much busier because of quarantine. However, people respectfully keep their distance on the trails and many also wears masks as well. I tend to stick to the same trails which don't seem to be as busy as the ones that are located deeper into Walnut Creek. Either way, it's still worth a visit because the trails are so versatile.

What a nice beautiful park in the suburbs in the middle of contra costa county. I can't remember if I've been here before but this time I got routed to a small parking area at the northern part of the park and there is definitely not enough parking spots for the surrounding neighborhood of what seems like active hikers, bikers and even runners. Last visit was the Black Friday post thanksgiving and the park was fairly empty even tho the parking lot was full. It's about 3pm and a late start to my mountain biking addiction. Park has many trails for all types of adventurers to explore and I mean MANY. I managed to start my ascent on a main fire road with about a thousand feet which led to the peak and a beautiful 360 view of the surrounding cities. After a few minutes of taking in the views I proceeded with my descent down a nice single track trail nicely planned and switch backs down about halfway until you reach the crossroads. Which led to many other options to choose to continue. If you have the time and energy I believe you can spend all day here and find many areas to relax and take in the views. The trails seems to be sandy at most areas but if you're a hiker you should be ok however bikers beware.

I actually really like Lime Ridge! Watch out for HUGE spiders though. This humongous brown spider crawled on my sister when she took a minute to sit down for five seconds. She took off her jacket and I gently guided the spider out of it with a stick and back into his little hole. There are a bunch of abandoned concrete slabs and odd things going on at Lime Ridge. I feel like people hold seances and strange stuff here. The vibe is overall very strange, but I really like the hike itself. Not too challenging, but definitely watch out for cyclists. I had to move out of the way for cyclists zooming down hills many times and a lot of the trails are narrow so I would climb INTO the shrubbery and grass to get out of their way. Many people who visit Lime Ridge are cyclists and you have to be mindful of this.

4 spots with different window glass on the ground in the same parking lot. The lime ridge parking lot ( cottonwood trail ) .Wouldn't recommend if you have stuff in your car you come here to walk. It's a smash and go hot spot it seems. Be careful all.

This is a great dry, cool-weather hike. We got the second part right, since we did encounter a bit of mud along the way. This was my friend and my anti-Black Friday, #optoutside adventure and I'm really happy we chose this location. (Even with the mud.) The air was crisp with clear views and I had multiple moments of gratitude for living in such an incredibly beautiful place. Our hiking guidebook described the route we took as "athletic," probably because of the 1,000 feet of elevation gain over 2 miles. We workout and hike a lot and we were still huffing and puffing at times. As far as our route, we went Ohlone to Manzanita to Lime Ridge to Paraiso. Wth a little side trip along the way, it was about 3.5 miles total. While some spots are well-marked, others are not, and this led to a few moments where we weren't quite sure where we were and where we were going. We figured it out just fine, although I could see how getting lost is an option.

Cool place! Just watch out for mountain bikers. They are usually carful but if you have kids are pets keep a hand on them. But it's worth the hike and your time for amazing views and unique trails!

Lime Ridge is a long park, stretching from near Concord's Cowell Road almost to Mt. Diablo State Park, thankfully saved from development by future-minded civic leaders. Judging from some of the fire roads, there may have been development planned for it.There are three parts. North of Treat Blvd, it's a wide-open meadow with steep hills where the dog can run free and mountain bike fanatics can speed downhill. South of Ygnacio Valley Road, it's lots of rocky hills laced with good hiking trails and wildflowers. Between these two spots is a no-mans-land with terrible access, therefore you get this whole portion to yourself. And views, views, views. And sun, sun, sun. There is little shade on Lime Ridge, and the nearest store is a mile away. Bring water.Just keep your expectations in check, and you'll be fine. It's not a jaw-dropping gorgeous spot. But it's a good spot to unwind after work, strolling the trails, civilization in view but seemingly far away.

Lime Ridge Open Space is a vaguely key-shaped parcel of land stretching from Concord south into Walnut Creek. The open space is cut into three chunks by two bisecting roads bustling with auto traffic. Each section generally serves the directly adjacent neighborhoods, offering broad dirt trails through rolling grassland, perfect for dog walking (where permitted), and for daily strolls or runs. Historically, lime was mined here, and the land still bears the scars from years of mineral extractions and hints of where later housing development could have occurred. Gayle and I enjoyed a nice scenic stroll though a small section of Lime Ridge as part of one of Mayor Bob's monthly Walnut Creek walks. I continue to be pleasantly surprised on what the WC offers in terms of open space and recreation. Lime Ridge is certainly not a drop dead gorgeous slice of Open Space. However, it's a nice place to unwind, stroll, contemplate and all within a busy suburb that is both in view and far far way.
