Not so dog, friendly.Anymore, with new management, they do not allow you to take them in to get your pass for the year. They are very rude. The younger guy that works there was great but the other guy was very rude and the park is getting very dirty and dog waste everywhere And I asked for some of the bags to pick up the dogs waste because there was none in the spot where there's supposed to be and they said that there is no budget for it right now but they were able to get me a couple of them. Worst experience I've ever had there.I've always loved taking my 2 pugs there. They love it , but I was very disappointed

Awesome Cliff jumping past the bridge! Just follow the trail and it takes you right to it.

This is a nice place to share a picnic, do some rafting or get a hike in. The hike was about 3.6 miles. It's probably considered easy to medium hike with some hills. I think it's dog friendly but must be leashed up. We brought snacks and some water for this out and back hike. You will have to pay a few bucks for parking, fyi. All in all it's a good hike for beginners.

Please only bring your dog if it's already used to going out in public and it's well behaved and is used to being around strangers and other dogs. Last time I was here it wasn't very enjoyable because so many people brought dogs that were barking, growling, and lunging at anyone passing by. Some people looked like they could barely hold on to their dog and it might break free and attack someone or another dog. Some dogs were going ballistic, ready to attack smaller dogs that were just walking by and not even paying any attention to them or barking back. We don't get outings like this often and it made me not want to return. If I decide to go back I hope it's a better situation.

Family field trip weeks back to this awesome recreation area was full of fun and a great educational experience. We came mainly for a hike. We did around two miles, not too steep, lots of rocks. Nice view of the river. Interesting looking at and exploring the ruins of the old jail, power plant, and crossing the Knights Ferry Covered Bridge. So much beautiful scenery to take photos in and of, I enjoyed that the most. Next visit we'll take advantage of the large picnic area (with bbq stands). Plenty of benches along the trail and restrooms. Dogs allowed on leash. There's an information center near the parking lot. It was closed during the hour we arrived, but open when we came back from exploring. There are maps of the area inside, exhibits, also restrooms. Staff were helpful. Parking is $5.

Love this place. Beautiful scenery. Indian grinding rocks. Trails for hiking, which dogs are allowed on leash. A lot of history. Cemetery up the hill too.

Knights Ferry is a photographers dream! If you're an abstract, landscape, or portrait photographer then you MUST check this place out! From old remains, to brick walls, covered bridge, running water, shrubbery, unique tree's, you name it - this recreation area has a little of everything. I could spend hours and hours here with my camera! Once I process the photo's I took I'll be sure to add them here! Note: you have to buy a parking pass, which is $5. They close at sunset, so make sure you're out before the gates are locked! (sunset was 5:30 for us this trip)

The ruins of an old power plant/mill, a jail and the remains of other buildings from the Gold Rush era are the best part of this recreation area. It is a photographer's paradise. There are water actives and short hiking trails. And like most parks there are picnic tables and grills. I did not notice any playgrounds. The river has flooded many times in the past, so this area is managed by the Army Corp of Engineers. There is a parking fee and the lot does not seem very big to me. I would like to come again to explore the ruins more and walk around this small gold rush town.
