Great place to inner tube down the river. Why do reviews have to be 85 words... who put the English teacher in charge... what am I writing an essay?

It's a nice park to get away for a short hike. I liked the covered bridge. After the hike, you can take off your shoes to cool off your tired feet. Bring a picnic basket and have a picnic. Your whole family will definitely enjoy it, including your pet -Fifi. Pet approved! Family endorsed! Go see for yourself.

Cuteness alert! The location of this covered bridge is absolutely perfect, and it's in fantastic condition. This bridge is fun to walk across, take photos in, around, and of. The surrounding trails, park, and old building and power plant remains surrounding this bridge are eventful, interesting, and so fun to look at. 10/10 recommend stopping and checking it out if you're driving through the area. Note: parking lot charges $5 via kiosk to park, and closes at sunset.

When I saw this location listed for one of the Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walks I was excited. I've wanted to go to this area and the clincher--it was a later in the day walk. I'll get up early for good light but if it is about a 2 hour drive to find it would discourage me. I would have to go the day before. The leader thought the light was better later in the day, and she was rightThe current 330 feet bridge was built in 1862; it is now a National Historic Landmark. It is the longest covered bridge in the US. I went in October and there wasn't much water flowing in Stanislaus, I was able to walk around the riverbank. I would encourage people if they are in the area to stop and walk across the bridge and then explore the area. You might even want to make a special trip to enjoy this area. As a side note Google Maps did not take me on the most direct route, although I enjoyed the drive you might want to look at a map before you go.

I brought my son to a river rafting excursion at Knights ferry and during that time high explored the trails and ruins. The history is so interesting. It was such a beautiful hot day, with not a chem trailing the sky. The grass in the hills was pretty dry. I imagined how lush and green must've been when the waters were so high that it wiped out the bridge back in the 1800s

Knights FerryHere's our Story:I was staying in Oakdale, CA a few times a week back in 2018. At the time we ( My siblings) were taking care of my late Father. I didn't venture out anywhere, just looked around the area via Instagram & Yelp. I wanted to take my Pops somewhere but he was too weak to go anywhere. We talked about Knights Ferry and my Dad totally knew about this place. I was never was the outdoors type of person. But this place intrigued me so much. I wanted to do something nice for my dad, but unfortunately we didn't get the chance. 2020Knights Ferry has been on my mind for the past two years. So I decided to take my children with me for Father's day 2020. I also brought my late Father with me. It was hella (In Nor CaL we say Hella a lot) packed. It was hella hard to find parking. But we got blessed to find parking close to the area. It's funny and we can laugh about it now. But the kids and I, saw pictures on instagram (Someone posted pictures of waterfalls that weren't there) and got pumped to see this waterfall. So we're walking around looking like stupid fools asking people where's this waterfall. Seriously we were on a mission, lol.So the locals didn't know of this said Waterfall, lol. Anywho, we had a blast searching for something that was there. Knights Ferry is pretty dope there's this covered bridge. There's history behind it, but I'm the wrong foo to give you the get down of the get down. When I was talking to "Forgetful Lettuce" her nickname I gave her (Bae) she told me she had carved her name in the bridge. I'll go look for it next time, we go. The kids and yours truly (VD) went to see what's up with these trails up in here. FrFr (For Reals) I'm super out of shape, so I couldn't hang. It was hella hot . None of us had a hat or I didn't think to bring sun screen lotion. We're a light skinned Latino Family, so we get hella burnt. It's all Gucci (Gucci means Good) we found a spot that was hella chill. The kids climbing rocks and getting in the water. It was our slice of heaven. We were taking pictures and enjoying the moment. I stepped back for a moment and just watched my children have fun. If you've been following me on YELP, then you know. My children are my everything. I'm a Father that does and not a Father that doesn't. We had a cool picnic, everything was occupied. So we just pulled out the ice chest. We ate right in front of our car. We sat on the ground, but that was all good. I was super happy because I was with my children. I had the best Father's day in my life that day. I had my beautiful family with me on that day. Also I had with my Dad with me. So it was like a double Father's day for me.Love you Dad and know your baby Boy. Missing you darn much.Everything I write is from my heart. "My children are my world and everything else in life is a bonus" "It only takes a moment to make a moment""life is beautiful""Enjoying the simple things in life"Sincerely VD

The Knights Ferry Covered Bridge is a must see National Historic Landmark for anyone visiting this area. Built in 1863, it's the longest covered bridge in the United States and likely one of the best preserved. It crosses the Stanislaus River and according to research is 379 feet long. It's roughly 3/4 mile north of Highway 108 from the Kennedy Road turnoff. There is a nice little restaurant just down the road. That makes for a great place to park and have lunch before walking over to check out the bridge. I only mention this because otherwise the next available parking is further away. The restaurant doesn't mind as long as you are a customer. I do not suggest parking there just to check out the bridge and not grabbing a bite at the restaurant. You could be towed. There are some decent views on and from both sides of the bridge as well as some easy hiking trails and fishing access.

Great time to take photos, because the grass was nice & green!! Photographers were actually scared it would rain, but we took a shot going out there & it didn't rain!! Thank goodness... I do recommend taking your special occasion photos here & I don't mind coming back for another photography session for another special occasion. again.

February 7, 2021This is review number fifty one. Not wanted watch Super Bowl Fifty Five. We saw this place on KQED Channel Nine with Huell Howser and Rob On The Road. It is in town Knight's Ferry of Stanislaus County. Sales tax is 7.825 percent. Beautiful trails. The bridge. Took us eight minutes walk across. There are exhibit signs. We walked it two times. The town has two historic fire houses, some restaurants, an one room school house, Visitor Center, an ice cream place, even one church or two churches. There are picnic tables. I purchased three post cards, cost three dollar twenty five cents with tax. We spent close to three hours. That was hiking, walking on the bridge, looking around the town.
