Jones Family Park is one of the larger parks in the Elk Grove area. It encompasses a total of 17.2 acres. This park is part of the Cosumnes Park & Recreation District. The Jones Family have been giving members of the community for more than 100 years.During little league season I can hear the crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd. This is what this park has to offer ! Not one, but 2 huge Babe Ruth Baseball Fields with bleacher to boot ! The whole complex is massive with multi purpose areas for soccer, 2 tennis courts, one court basketball court, picnic area and tables, play area, barbecues, shaded area (gazebo) walking path, a 100 car parking lot, plus the most important amenity ( Restrooms) !This park has something for everyone and for everyone to enjoy! A well maintained park in a lovely community in the City of Elk Grove.

This is a neighborhood park that backs up against a railroad track and a fenced-in wetlands preserve. It features two baseball diamonds, one is full-size and the other is for a little league. The trees provide spotty shade for game watchers. There is a fenced in tennis court with two nets. It has a single basketball hoop. There is ample open grassy areas for throwing frisbees and the like. It has no soccer field. A children's play structure and swing is next to that a covered picnic area with built-in grill. There is also a single picnic table with grill that is in the back of the park. Several water fountains are available. A parking lot can handle most needs, unless there is a lot of activity in the park, in which case there is on-street parking.

Jones park used to a nice place for neighbors to gather and participate in various activities. The ball parks are used almost exclusively by leagues, some of which don't live locally and have no regard for the care of the park or its facilities. They leave their trash and beer empties all over, set up sales areas and kill off the grass in those areas, dirty diapers left on the grass and broken down fences are what some of the leagues contribute to Jones park. Their kids climb in the trees and break out limbs and generally destroy the place. Living very close by I wish Elk Grove would just bull doze the balls parks and fence the area off for extended wetlands and wildlife. The ball park areas are almost never used for anything else. The park district could save a LOT of maintenance, water and repair costs by eliminating the ball parks here. The park is used mostly for basketball, walkers, children's play area and the tennis courts get a fair amount of use. I'm there on a daily basis and the weekday users don't do the damage...it is the weekend leagues. Park district claims it needs more money to maintain and mow lawns but if they got rid of ball parks (which of course still get watered while most of the rest of the park suffers} they could reduce their water bill and have a park for the neighborhood...not people coming from outside of Elk Grove.
