A great option for swim lessons in Roseville. There are a variety of classes for new swimmers and ages range from 3 to 12. Kids learn to blow bubbles under water, increase confidence in entering the pool, going under water, breast stroke, swimming to the edge by themselves, retrieving rings from underwater and going down a slide. Kids are watched carefully by lifeguards (ratio of 2 kids per lifeguard) there are many lifeguards in the water with the kids as they learn!I took my 6 year old here because he had no confidence with entering a pool without a floaty. After 1 week of the 2 week lesson, my son was swimming in our pool without a floaty. He could swim from one side of the pool to the other! The lessons were a huge help. In addition to swim lessons, the pool has $2 entey for swim hours during the day Monday - Friday (1pm to 4pm)On Monday and Wednesday they have free family night at 6:45-8:15Pros: friendly staff, easy swim lesson setup, open hours, pool depth from 1ft to 8ft.Cons: Location is near loud train station, 1 slide attraction, limited shade, outdoor pool

This review is only for the swim lessons. I'll be honest... Parking is very limited because it's in a residential area. There's limited shade because it's so open, but they provide enough canopies to offer a lot more shade than you think. Props to them for that! Now for the swim lessons.... We were a little skeptical about coming here because it is an older pool facility. However, I'm soooo glad we did. Our son has a fear of water and cried almost every lesson, but his teachers never got impatient or frustrated. They were EXTREMELY caring and loving towards him the entire time. In fact, his fear of water is slowly going away now! About a quarter of the pool is only 1 ft deep so it's nice because he can wade in the water too. I'm very grateful to the staff here for being so great with our son. Thank you to his teachers: Chase, Tammy, and Megan! Special thanks to Megan for being so great with our son. He loves swimming now because of you!

Johnson Pool will open for the summer beginning Monday, June 29th.The web address says it all. It is missing the fact that there isn't a lot of shade if you want to stand and watch your children. There is some shade over the bleachers though. I suggest going to the Roseville Aquatics Center instead (some shade in the back by the deep end of the pool). Public Swim HoursMonday - Friday: 1-3:30 p.m.Free Family Nights, Mondays and Wednesdays: 6:45 - 8:15 p.m.Private Group RentalsFacility/Equipment Deposit: $200 (refundable)Facility Fee: $270.00 for 2 hours; $115 for each additional hour. For more information, please call (916) 774-5990.

This is my first year using Johnson Pool for swim lessons. I can't speak as to their ability to turn non swimmers into avid swimmers but the staff is amazing and patient. I enrolled two children ages 6 and 8. One fearless and the other afraid of everything. Both are doing well. Miss fearless is swimming unassisted and Miss Scary is now jumping off the side, getting her face wet and paddling a few strokes. A big accomplishment. Will definitely come back next year.

My review pertains to swim lessons only. If you like smaller settings for your child's swim lessons, come here or give it a drive-by ... On numerous occasions I have had smaller if not 1-to-1, swim lessons for my children. I can't even compare the experience here to the RAC because it's much more intimate here. I am referring to the little ones, not the big kids. Sure it's an older pool on the older side of Roseville, so I know that's the first deterrent for a few "newbies / snobberellis." If you need a cutsie place to go to, I suppose you will be turned off by the place (and indeed go to the RAC or Central Pool) ~ RE: Shade I am not sure what others are talking about ... because there is plenty of covered seating for how small the place is ... it's no more a cement sun garden than the other place. I have jousted for shade space at the RAC as well. There are no fancy slides, nor olympic size pool, nor zero depth walk-in here (which is indeed awesome at the RAC) but I am here for lessons and it feels less chaotic here when talking about swimming lessons for the little ones. Central park is awesome for poor weather swim lessons and lessons period (what a GORGEOUS place, but it does get really loud) :-) We have done swim lessons at all three locations and they reacted much more confidently at this location. I am not saying you will think it's pretty, but it's what works for us. I wouldn't come here on a family-open-swim night. It's too small. Major chaos.
