This business is filled with caring and music loving individuals. I've been coming here for years, whether I'm getting guitar strings, checking out new instruments or getting repairs done. They've got it all including lessons. They're a company who cares for their community and as a result, the community cares for them too.

I have known this store since the day It opened. They have always been there to help. PEOPLE own and run this store. Now, to the woman whose son was just shopping for a guitar. If it was me as the owner, I would have had him show me he could play on a demo guitar FIRST. Noel then, would I let him touch one that the store owned. If that music store was my store, which it is not, I would be protecting my inventory which is an investment that I had to pay for with a vengeance. Here's the deal, if your son dropped that expensive guitar and damaged it, who should be liable? Well.....YOU. You now owe me full price for that guitar. I have purchased several thousand dollars in guitars from Janis Music over the decades. They are a true blessing to this community. I will always go there first, even if I have to wait for my order to be shipped. I love these guys. They know what they are doing, and not just selling a bunch of stuff. I trust Janis Music. I have gone to guitar center for the entertainment value just to look. I have done some impulse buying just because I was there. I would never buy a guitar off the shelf there, either. I see these young guys come in just to bang on a guitar and leave. The store does not care. I am now 74 and spent a lifetime with Janis music. I will continue to support them until all I am is a memory to others.

Janis Music is unprofessional upon entry. She shamed me for wearing a masks in her store. She is in denial of a Global pandemic and in agreement with spreading Covid. It is emotionally immature that an individual could be triggered by masks. How can a business attempt to force their ignorance onto their customers? She continued to make ignorant comments during my visit. This is a business that provides instrument rentals to Manteca School district. Other parents shared similar stories. Please take your business elsewhere. Please don't spend your hard earned money here. Don't support a business that not only Shames their customers but also doesn't appreciate your business.

This place was awesome. I was really surprised by the prices on instruments and the quality of selection. I bought a 1/2 size beginner guitar for my son and I'm still in shock of the quality for the price. They had some really nice high end professional grade guitars and instruments as well. Also, the service was outstanding.

Because they don't know how to treat their customers! My son and his friend went in there today and was browsing at guitars and were treated so rudely. The owner sat there and stared at them when they asked to see a guitar. She rudely asked them if it was even in their price range and when my sons friend said no she took the guitar right out of his hand and said they don't have time to entertain them but that they had rentals coming in. Then she took her employee and moved him right next to my son and said to stay arms length like he was going to steal something. I was so upset when I picked him up and heard this story. My son has two guitars, an acoustic and an electric and he wanted a newer guitar for his birthday next month. I would have gladly bought him an expensive guitar because he has proven to be responsible with the ones he has and is ready for a beautiful instrument that is pricier then a beginners guitar. Sadly I will not be supporting this store which I would of rather purchased from because I love mom and pop shops. They are more intimate. However we have never been treated this way. I will continue looking for another shop that treats every individual as a potential long term customer. You should never judge someone! You never know the entire story. So disappointed!!

The staff at Janis are great. Very nice people. The only issue I have is that I rented a Bell Set for my sons music class. We used it for the entire year then returned it during the summer. During the return, the associate helping us could not locate the return receipt book so this return process took much longer than it should have. Since the associate could not locate the receipt book he had to write out a "receipt" onto a post it note. I thanked him and left. After I drove off and was half way home, the same young man called me to let me know the receipt book was found. I was already late because of the delayed return process so I asked him if he could text me the receipt. He obliged, which I was grateful for. However, the receipt he text me was incorrect. It said "snare drum return". I did not rent a snare drum. I rented a Bell Set. I texted him back asking if he could fix the receipt and there was no response. I gave it some time then messaged him again for the correction, but still no response. I've called the shop and can't get through so I now have no way of confirming my Bell Set was correctly returned which means I may get another monthly rental charge. I do not like these kinds of thing left incomplete for the sake of it coming back to bite me in the future.A message to Janis Music:Hello,Since I'm unable to receive a response from Miguel, would you kindly correct this receipt to read "Bell Set", and include the correct serial #. Also, please ensure my auto-draft account is removed from being charged as of 08/03/2022. If there have been any additional charges, would you kindly refund them immediately. The lady that helped my son and I in this music store was so rude !!! She was informative in a couple of questions that we asked but she kept making snide remarks after every answer. I don't know if she was the owner or an employee but I know we will not be returning to this place.
