Ichiban Teppanyaki & Sushi

Decided I wanted Teppanyaki food and discovered this place not too far away.Had an excellent meal...

They've really gone down hill since the last time I've been here. Few years ago they sold off again to someone else or one owner bought out the other. Anyways they got rid of a bunch of the old rolls. Went again today and the service was terrible. Especially considering how much staff was just standing around. I was the only one at the sushi bar yet they took forever to come take my order. One of the items I ordered they ran out of. Instead of asking me right away if I would like to order something else, they waited til my other roll was ready to serve to tell me. Basically I'd be done with my food and would have to sit around waiting for them to make a new one had I ordered. Very disappointed. This used to be a go to spot for me.

Came here with a party of 7. Food was excellent, service was prompt. A little overstaffed with people standing around, not sure if they were expecting to be busier for the the holidays but had zero issues.Will come back!

Charlie was a great performer/chef. My family's first experience at hamachi was a success thanks to Charlie's skill and humor.

To start off, these guys are located in a small shopping center, a fairly decent location for Manteca. When you walk through the front door, you are greeted by a large saltwater fish tank that at the time of writing has a blue hippo tang, a powder brown tang and a few others that were zipping around. It's pretty neat for a salt water tank fan. As far as the food goes, fairly solid. The Ahi Poke was really good. Solid flavor profile. The soup and salad they bring with your meal was more like hot water with some mushrooms and onions thrown in. My guess is that since it was early, it didn't have a chance to really build the soup base flavor. The salad was your typical salad served at most places like this. Pretty basic.The Tuna steak was cooked exactly as I asked, which I'll admit is rare for a tepenyaki joint. They normally always over cook my tuna.Chicken fried rice was good, shrimp and veggies included with meal were good.Chef did a great job with the table side performance and had us smiling and laughing with him. One thing I don't like is that the tip is included on the check automatically. I don't like giving the bare minimum tip, but since it was included on the check, I didn't give what I normally would for great service. Will have to come back again in the future, maybe at dinner time instead of lunch, and see how they handle a dinner service.

So I felt like some teppanyaki today. Hubby found this place while searching Google. Only 45 minutes from us. So here we are!Hubby got an appetizer of ahi poke bowl. Meals start with onion soup and salad. Hubby had tuna and fried rice. I got hibachi chicken and fried rice. Food is so yummy.Our cook put on a wonderful show. Fire yay! Everything is prepped in front of you. It really is spectacular especially for a date night.This restaurant is a small and romantic place. It is not too loud at all. Yes, we did come at lunch so I'm not sure how loud it is at night!Would definitely recommend stopping by.

Always a fun experience with teppanyaki preparations. The food at Ichiban was good. My steak was a little chewy, but the seafood was delicious. Wait staff were super attentive and drinks were refilled very quickly. We plan to come back with our grandkids to enjoy the entertaining chef.

I wanted to love it. But didn't. We did teppanyaki and the show itself was OK. The food was just OK. Lacked flavor and wasn't the same. I ordered the filet and chicken and both wasn't the greatest. Maybe it was just an off night?

Went for Valentine's Day place was packed we had great service and food was great we also went back the next day because we were craving it again very happy keep up the good work

Found this place on Yelp while visiting GWL. It did not disappoint. The teriyaki salmon was delicious!
