Kitties
Not valuable, but I had to purchase this Toucan water pitcher, a steal at $6.

It smells antique. There were cob webs. Lots of junk in my opinion. Many cups, plates, glasses and salt and pepper shakers located here if that's your liking.

It's fair to say that Will Heck, the proprietor of "Heck of a Deal" would be an excellent museum docent but taking up residence in the small town of Escalon, there are few museums at which he could share his knowledge. Solving this problem, his store (more like a series of storefronts) satisfies by providing a venue to that's both fun to poke around in and made hugely interesting by the owner's knowledge of what's on his shelves. The proprietor of Heck of a Deal is a storyteller, a collector, and insanely knowledgeable about pottery (and a whole lot more). As I peered in through the windows of the closed store, Will came out and unlocked the doors, welcoming me in. If the place looks closed, peer in for a while and I think you might have the same experience. Once inside, Heck of a Deal is what appears to be a small town curio shop, filled with dusty garage sale and storage container contents. You've been in this type of shop in many places but you've never really been until you go through this shop in Escalon. The way things are organized, though it appears they're not, is logical and can easily be explained by the proprietor who seemingly has a tale to tell about at least one piece in each collection. Mr. Heck will guide you to the valuable pieces and explain what makes them valuable and unique. There's plenty of things that aren't valuable, and prices are low and very reasonable, but even the prices of the more valuable pieces seemed reasonable. Mr. Heck just loves this stuff and wants to share his love with you. I learned so much here and saw so much that I felt like a window had been opened to something about which I never previously knew a thing. I made a couple of small purchases but the stories left me yearning for a few of the more valuable offerings. If you drive through Escalon without stopping at Heck of a Deal you're really missing an amazing experience. You should be seeking this place out and if you do, don't forget to ask "what's the most valuable piece you have in here?" then wait for the story to pour forth.

I had a delightful time just really amazed at all the assortment of collectibles this place has. The gentleman in charge was very informative and helpful in answering questions. Definitely a place to stop at when you're looking for that one special item that you need in your collection or that you need in your decor.

Will is awesome! He truly loves what he does. It was such a pleasure and so fun to take my items in for him to appraise and tell me stories about them! He is honest and trustworthy. He is extremely knowledgeable and it was so fun to hear about all of the stories of the items in his store. He needs a you tube channel! I highly recommend visiting him at his store!

Small shop filled with mainly dishes and decorative items circa 1920's - 80's. The owner is fascinating and knows the history of every piece in the store and loves to share his knowledge. His passion for collecting and treasure hunting and his stories made me appreciate all these items that normally I would ignore as just "old junk". I would go back just to talk to him more! Giving 3 stars just for the small size of the shop.

If you enjoy history and want to take a quick break away from generic copy and paste life that big box stores offer - You must go to this store. From the outside it's completely unassuming - it's an old Rite Aid that has not been remodeled and the inside isn't much different. But throw your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd impressions away because this store is nothing as it seems. Once you meet you the owner of the store, Mr Heck, you will realize that this store is one of a kind and that the store is filled with Easter eggs if you know what you are looking for. Mr Heck has a story about every item in the store and he speaks, your transported into a different time zone. We originally wanted to see that this store was because we had 20 extra minutes. We ended staying 5 hours talking to Mr Heck because we realized the time spent with him in the store was better than our previous plan. Cant wait to go back!
