They are really helpful and knowledgeable. They did a great job of finding what would meet our needs. Install was a breeze and very discreet.

What the heck is going on with this place... I came here looking to buy a safe. Sat in an odd-smelling room for almost 15 minutes before somebody came to help us. I was certain that I had come to the wrong place by mistake. I kept on repeating "he knew I said I was looking for a safe, not a boat stereo, right?" The first thing the young guy asked us is if we wanted to spend a lot of money on a safe, making it clear that if we weren't, he wasn't going to spend any time on us. I think that the same company that makes the safes here also installs boat accessories, because their manufacturing area is full of boats and quads. They showed us a few safes that they were currently building, and I was really impressed. Very high quality, fine finish, and cool features you probably can't find off the shelf. Unfortunately they weren't able to give me pricing or availability information, and couldn't tell me when I could get this important information, or from who. It's a little difficult to hand over a check for a few thousand dollars to a 20-something year old and expect something in return months later... I left here feeling like they didn't take me seriously. If only they knew that I spent thousands on a safe later that day.

I will be purchasing a very large, secure gun safe in the next year, so now is research time. My current safe is from Costco. It cost $1000 and has worked great for many years. Now it's contents are valuable enough to warrant more protection and I need more space. Cheap safes (generally $2000 and under) are great to a point. They will protect you from a quick smash and grab, but a even slightly determined robber can get through them. Search YouTube and you will be shocked. I want something that can survive a decent attack, and is very big.I just got back from Hall's Safe Company. There isn't much of a sign for the place, and when you walk in there were only 2 safes in a small entry area. Not a showroom like I was expecting. A guy (not the young guy from the other review) came in seconds later, and I said I was interested in a safe. He explained that they don't resell safes, they make them. He politely but bluntly asked how much I was looking to spend. As someone who has just done a ton a research, I understand exactly why he asked this question. Good safes cost many thousands of dollars. If someone is looking to spend $500-$1500 they need to go to Costco or another safe store that sells lines of cheap safes. And for what those customers want, those cheap safes are probably just fine. Asking this question lets the customer and the sales guy quickly know if a Hall's safe is what they are looking for.I said I was looking to spend $4000-$6000 and he told me to head on back to the work area with him. This company looks like it does a lot of different metal work in addition to making safes. There were a number of large boats and other various projects being worked on. We reached the safe manufacturing area and there were a few safes in mid build. Steel boxes and doors, no finish. The guy showed me a few things about how they build them and explained the different strengths and methods, and what is important. We then went back to a room that had a bunch of finished safes of different sizes, designs and colors. I must say, they are beautiful. The guy explained how the thickness of the metal in the walls and door of the safe, and around the door frame are really important. These are where cheaper safe manufacturers save most of their money. We talked about Chinese vs American steel, and the different safe manufacturers and their different lines, and which were good/bad/etc. Everything he said was in line with what my research has taught me.Hall's safes have the nicest interiors of any safe I have seen. The shelves are made of solid wood and the fabric/carpet is the nicest. You can have them layout the interior however you want, which is excellent. They have a device called a gun swinger that is too difficult to explain, but the coolest rifle storage system I have ever seen in a safe. The only area I felt they were lacking in is the inside behind the door. In recent years the big safe companies have started installing fantastic door storage systems standard with their safes. They are awesome. Lots and lots of holsters for pistols, and various other bags and pockets for other things that would require to you put them in boxes or roll around, taking up valuable rifle and pistol space. The guy said he wasn't a big fan of those systems, and that they didn't work well. Maybe he hasn't seen the new ones in recent years, because the back of the door storage systems are a monster selling point for me. To Hall's defense, I'll bet they could customize the inside of the door better than the standard storage systems I like so much. We'll see.Hall's Safes are custom made. He said they average making one per day. They are expensive, and they take time to build. I believe they occasionally go to large expos like the recent one at Cal-Expo, and have some safes on hand to sell, but I think usually they will make the safe specific for the customer which takes time. If you want a safe tomorrow you will probably have to go elsewhere. If you get a Hall's safe, I think it will cost around the same +/- as other more name brand safes of the same size, but the Hall's safe will have thicker steel all around, have a nicer interior and equal or better exterior finish. I haven't sat down and gotten an exact quote yet, so I can't say that for sure, but it is the feeling I get from asking him about the cost of the safes he was showing me.I am impressed. I will be going back when I am ready and at a minimum I will get a quote to compare to other safes I am considering. If you like nice safes, especially if you appreciate custom dimensions, interiors, and finishes, you should really check this place out.

Back in early 2008, my wife and I were visiting a gunshow in Antioch, CA, and were in the market for a gun safe. I had already looked at other brands aty gun shows at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, at the Cal-Expo in Sacremanto, and at the MEGA gun show in Reno, and had seen some very nice safes...most of which I thought were way over priced for what was being offered. However, when we looked at the Hall's safes just by knocking on the door and walls and hearing the resulting "thud" as opposed to a tinny sounding "clang" I could tell a thicker grade of steel was used in the safes on display. I quickly learned that the safes at the show were not made especially for the show, that ALL of their safes were made to this standard. We sat down with a salesman and spec'ed out the safe we wante: 3'w x 3'd x 6'h, racking for 15 long guns, shelfs for a reasonable amount of ammunition, and several drawers for important papers and my wife's jewelery. Empty weight was 1,800 pounds! Price for the safe: $4,800, which included the custom Hunter Green paint, gold leaf details on the door, as well as our names and date in gold leaf too. Delivery time was 4 months, which I thought was a bit excessive until it was explained that each safe custom, hand made, not just a mass produced steel box made in China and shipped over here for finish work. When the safe was delivered it was lowered to the driveway on a power liftgate, and rolled to the front door on a powered pallet jack. Hardboard was used to cover the Italian marble floor in the entry hall and the safe was transferred from the pallet jack and rolled on sections of PVC pipe! I was amazed at how easily the two men maneuvered the safe into position in my downstairs office. Once in position the safe was unwrapped and it was magnificient, a work of art and well worth the price we paid for it. When friends come over and they see the safe they always remark on how beautiful it is and, typically, the conversation gets around to them asking how well its made, and how much it cost. So I tell them the details and features, and the usual response is the men will look at their feet and sheepishly comment that they paid more for their safe that isn't as well made, nor does it have as many features. It's been 7 years since we purchased this safe and it's time to upgrade to a larger capacity unit. Hall's will be out first, and probably only, choice. Thank you, Hall's, for making such an outstanding product!!

Horrible customer service. I bought a safe from him at the Cal expo sports show. It took 8 months to get the safe, about four months in to the 8 months he calls me and ask if he can sell my safe to someone else. I told him if he discounted it I will do it. Well no discount and another four months I get my safe. Safe to say he sold mine and put me on ice. After my safe was delivered I found an air bubble in the corner of one of the doors. I called and told him multiple times. He said he would call me and take care of it. No call still same problem. I have seen him at the sports show 2 years in a row and still nothing has been done. Don't do business with this guy.

I love my new safe from Hall's Safe Company! and highly recommend them to anyone who is serious about protecting their valuables. I did a lot of research on various safe companies including Liberty Safe in West Sacramento, High Noble Safe in Roseville, most of the safe companies on the internet, and I chose Hall's Safe Company above all the others, for the following reasons:1) It is the strongest most secure safe, above all the others. The others all used "gaged" steel; 16 or 14 gauge steel. But, not Hall's Safe - they used "plate" steel which is so much thicker and stronger. I was very impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship that I saw in every safe being made.2) It was custom built for my wants and needs. I wanted to keep it in my bedroom, although is it gorgeous enough to have in the living room, so Hall's Safe made it only 26 inches deep to get it though the bedroom door, instead of the standard 28 inch deep safes. The interior cabinet drawers and shelving are exactly what I needed. The drawers are solid and strong and have a beautiful finish, glide smoothly and have the soft-close feature.3) The owner of Hall's Safe Company, Tom, was really super nice and great to work with on determining the right safe for me and my needs. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and not your typical pushy salesman. I never felt pressured to buy a Hall's Safe - I wanted to buy a Hall's Safe. Because I worked close by, I would often stop by during my lunch hour to see the progress on my safe, ask Tom a bunch of news questions I had, and make some decisions like what side did I want the door hung on - right or left, how many shelves, what color carpet, etc. Tom was extremely patient and I enjoyed working with him!Hall's Safe is a smaller company, so many times when I would stop by, if I saw no one in the lobby, I would just head down the hall toward the warehouse and usually I would see Tom, either in his office on the phone, or back in the warehouse. I was always greeted with a big "Hi". Tom always made time for me and never made me feel like I was interrupting his day.I use to worry about all my valuables being inside a Stack-On cabinet. Not anymore! The peace of mind that I now have, knowing that my most valuable items are locked-up inside a Hall's Safe is honestly the best feeing ever and it's well worth the price. I highly and happily recommend Hall's Safe Company!

Showed up at 3:30 on Friday to buy a safe. Doors locked no one inside the new location. Not a good sign if they are open until 4 and close early with no note or anything

When we had our Hall's safe made in 2001, the company had a different owner. I happily recommended Hall's Safe to family and friends. But things have changed.Last week I could not open the safe so I called the current owner. He gave me a suggestion but, unfortunately, it did not work. I called him back and kept getting voice mail. I left a message and asked that he call me. He never did and it was obvious that he was ignoring me. Really? If you don't know how to help a customer, just say so. Ignoring customers is not a good business practice.I bought a Hall's Safe because of its reputation. Now the current owner has given the Hall's Safe Company name a new reputation - a bad one in my opinion.

I would like to update my review for Hall's Safes. Tom, the owner, has done all he could to remedy my problems with my safe. He ended up sending another company to diagnose the problem with it not opening and they were able to discover the problem and fix it. He has called me when he said he would and addressed all my issues. It is a beautiful safe and I am not sorry I bought it from Halls. Tom has provided good customer service since I wrote my last review and I want to truly acknowledge him for that. I upgraded my rating and left off one star only because of the faulty part.
