We had to stop by somewhere to print out something on our way to Yosemite, and this was a perfect stop! 15 cents for a copy! When was the last time they put this price up? won't find that here in the Bay Area! Library was friendly and helpful who is a local moved up there 20 plus years ago. Of course we had to use the bathroom since it was available! It was nice and clean. What caught my eyes were all those quilts hanging on the wall. Per the librarian, the them of the quilts will change each season! All those were made by the locals. There's a meetup weekly for quilters there! The museum side was closed at the time we were there.

Great little museum. The docent, Linda, gave us a fantastic tour. Her knowledge and story telling made it a great experience and we left feeling like we really had a good understanding of the history of Groveland and the surrounding area. Totally worth checking out!

An old friend from the Midwest came to California and we had decided to road trip to Yosemite. We had been driving for a couple of hours and decided to stretch our legs for a bit. We had pulled into a park setting parking lot and noticed the Groveland Yosemite Gateway Museum! Ooooh! Inside this building to the right is the town library as well. As we entered the door, we were greeted with a big smile! They welcomed us and made us feel right at home! This is a small museum. Don't let that fool you!! They have amazingly collected a very large amount of history and strategically organized it in a way to tell a story!! This is a great place to bond with your kids/nieces/nephews to share/teach history in a fun way!! Ooooh! Heck!!! It was fun to see things as an adult!! They have managed to collect old firearms, coins, clothing, pictures, dinnerware, cameras, stuffed bears, and much more. BTW, did I mention this little piece of history tour was FREE??? Yep! It's free!!There's a donation container on the counter. Donations help with the upkeep and more. They do not pressure you to donate. However, please donate! It's very worthy.

Me and a friend stopped by this museum on our way home from Yosemite. The docent Kathy Brown invited us in and gave us the most incredible tour of the museum. We learned a history that was told best through the voice of a well spoken and well informed historian specializing in the region. Thank you so much for taking time with us!

This is an important museum for the Groveland/Big Oak Flat area and the immediate area prior to Yosemite. They have great exhibits on the history of the local towns and the families that helped create them. They are attached to the local library which is convenient as well. Parking is generous and the museum is located in the city park, which is kept up nicely. The attendants running the museum were pleasant and helpful. They also have a good selection of souvenirs and books to get. The museum has worked with the Southern Tuolumne County Historical Society to help restore buildings in the town and in neighboring Big Oak Flat and done a good job at that as well.

Price: FreeRight off the Main Street of Groveland is a nice park and this local library with a nice museum in it. The people inside were very friendly. The museum shows items all locally donated from Groveland families with history of the area. My son loves touching the different furs and seeing some examples of animals from the local area. There is also a small gift shop and theatre to watch films of local history. A nice and informative stop.

Very cool little museum of local lore, families, history and such. All built through donations and aluminum can recycling from the local population. It really should be a must visit when you are in Groveland. Takes about 45 minutes to walk around and read the details. Volunteer staff is very helpful.

Small, friendly museum with an adjacent library and good WiFi. The museum offers history of al the mines in Groveland area as well as History of Yosemite national park! They have a small viewing room where guests can view the many documentaries available. Taking time to speak with the docents rounds out the experience.

Now "Museum and Library" at the corner of Ferrentti Rd. and Hiwy120 across from a great little market. Library staff is friendly and helpful in a modern building with free WiFi. Wireless service in Groveland is spotty with Verizon and Very limited with AT&T, so free 24/7 WiFi is a big deal. If the library is closed friends are invited to sit on the benches under the covered porch for full internet access. Also computer terminals are available with check-in.

Time your arrival in Groveland to catch the museum when it's open. It's beautifully arranged, with something to interest everybody. The docent is gracious and knowledgeable. When you've absorbed enough, get a great sandwich at the nearby grocery store and picnic in the park here. Welcome to Groveland!
