Grizzly Waters Kayaking

If you seek a local's experience, Grizzly Waters Kayaking is a hidden gem. Located in the heart of the Suisun Slough, we explored a stunning and beautiful part of San Francisco's back bay. MUCH more memorable than a wine tour.

James was responsive and helpful. Our group rented kayaks for 1 hour and had a lovely time. Half of our group was brand new to kayaking and James did a good job at explaining the basics. It was a little windy so the way back required a little more perseverance!

Came across this kayaking company via instagram and had to check it out. They were offering a full moon guided tour and I wanted in. Prior to excursion, my friends and I had to reserve a spot on their website. The initial tour ended up being fully booked, however, James the guide offered open up another day due to the moon tour being so popular. The meeting area was at the boat launch ramp area. We signed waivers and were given a run down on kayaking 101 (it was our first kayaking excursion) with 4 other people. The weather was warm, the waters were calm and the mosquitoes were biting. So don't forget to apply sunscreen and have plenty of bug repellent! Wear water shoes, bring snacks and water. Also, maybe bring a small fanny pack or water resistant bag to carry small items in.As we paddled, James checked up on everybody and made sure we were all doing okay. Along the way he informed us about the wetlands and what type of wildlife were around. James even provided us with his own bug repellent to use to keep the mosquitoes at bay. Once it was dark enough, we settled in an area of the wetlands to wait for the moon to rise. My friends and I were elated and in awe that we got to see the Harvest moon rise on the hills whilst kayaking. Kodak moment for sure. The journey around Suisun Bay lasted for about 2 hours. It was a cool experience, especially with the moon acting as our guiding light. My arms definitely got in a work out from paddling so much.Overall, great experience, reasonably priced and James was professional and informative. Highly recommend!

My brother and I really enjoyed kayaking! It was our first time and we only did it for an hour but James the owner was very informative, going over how to paddle & safety instructions. James was incredibly nice and had great customer service. In addition to the kayak, he also provides life vests, a map, and a great attitude.They also rent out free kayaks every earth day and coastal cleanup day and I appreciate them very much for that! Definitely coming back on those days.... exploring, kayaking, AND cleaning up the environment? I'm here for that. I would definitely go again & even try their stand up paddle boards, guided tours, and all that. Being a resident from Suisun, it was awesome being able to explore our very own backyard. My tips? Go in the morning, when it isn't too particularly windy. Also wear swim shorts if you can! My legs were soaked and next time I will be bringing swim shorts (my arms and torso were fine). This was amazing, thanks James!!

We rented Kayaks for an hour with some friends. We booked in advance, which I'd recommend since it's a small company. Renting was super easy and James met us on time with all the equipment ready. He even provided us with a dry bag to keep our phones, keys, and valuables in. The one hour time was a good length for us for the small marsh and our experience level.

Very easy arrangements at the local boat ramp. Plenty of waterways to explore at a leisurely pace. Better price than some of the others I looked at over at Point Reyes. Note that the owner, James, has a key to the restrooms at the nearby Harbormaster's office, which is helpful if you arrive before the public restrooms are opened at the boat ramp. We arrived at 9am Sunday ... ya'd think they'd be open by then, and you'd be wrong.

Went kayaking today in the Suisun Slough. Found this local company thru an internet search after seeing some posts from a moonlight tour. James was great! So easy to reserve & book our rentals. Booked for a couple of hours which was great! Supplied everything that we needed as well as dry bags & life vests. Will be booking again. So much fun!

Came here to paddle board and it was convenient and fun! James, the owner, is helpful and knowledgeable. Excellent service! Hours vary, per sign at the door, so make your reservations ahead of time. I also saw that there's different events that all seem to be fun. :) I'll probably be back!

We had an amazing time. James who we dealt with was very helpful and provide us a water bag and a map of the river for not extra charge. Also, he gave us a detail lesson since we are beginners. After kayaking, he gave us 15% discount for restaurants of the area. I highly recommend to do it if you are in the area.

Took the family out for a fun time. It was a bit windy which made it more challenging but can't control the weather. Good experience and James was cool.
