Just so you know, the Carquinez Strait cuts both ways. I don't know what I mean by that except that I've gotten to know the Contra Costa side of the water from Eckley Pier to Martinez. I had been curious what was on the Solano side since I've only explored Benicia before but not the vast open space I kept seeing in the distance. That was really the only reason I came across the Carquinez Bridge to visit this park which turned out to be more of a natural open space with a network of dirt trails with scenic views. There's also a public beach that attracts a lot of locals, obviously the main draw here. Perhaps because it's located within a standard suburban residential neighborhood, the park doesn't feel quite as lush as the Contra Costa side, but you get a clearer view of the bridge since there are several grassy promontories with their own spur trails. The park melts into the Benicia State Recreation Area which offers its own rocky shoreline and eastward views toward Martinez. So now I know the Carquinez Strait from both sides now, and I guess that's how it cuts both ways.RELATED - Up for a hike? Here's a collection of trails I've walked and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2OrC8nU

The grassy part of this park is relatively small, but the trails to the left go all the way to the Benicia State Park with beautiful views of the bay, the bridge and the hills! The whole loop is about 2-3 miles depending on the path you take.

I really like the waterfront area, and it's relaxing to visit and get away from daily distractions

A sunny Sunday afternoon....the best way to welcome spring/summer is hitting the park with the family. We are still fairly new to Vallejo so I did what most people do nowadays and Googled it! Glen Cove Waterfront Park popped up...the pictures online looked really nice so we followed Google directions and found basically the backend of the park which is nestled deep in the Glenn Cove area of Vallejo. First impression wasn't much, the parking is pretty non-existent in the area we were at so be prepared to park in the little turnabout area or on the residential street. A helpful jogger informed us we were at the very back of the park which was mainly used for it's running trails. She told us that the main entrance was another freeway exit up and that she thought they charged for parking. We decided to stay put and walked up the trail a ways until we came to a picnic bench...upon closer inspection we noticed wormy bugs crawling all over it so we moved on and decided to lay blankets out on the grass. We did not see any bathroom facilities while we were there. I don't recommend this backend part of the park for family picnics or outings unless all you want to do is walk. It's really not set up for anything more. The view was gorgeous...the trail follows the shore. A ship lazily floated by, we could see the Carquinez bridge in the distance...peaceful and quiet. Some people were playing in the water but it looked a little too dirty to me. This end of the park isn't for family shindigs but it is nice as just a walking/jogging trail. I'll update my post once I visit the "main entrance"...hopefully it's more family friendly then this section of the park.

People feeding cats here are causing skunks by the dozens to walk around spraying dogs. Glen cove marina was made aware of this issue but they don't do anything about it. If you complain as a resident of the marina, they kick you out citing petty, made up reasons.

I like this place especially for the beach. We bring our dog here to play in the water. Very quiet park with few people so it's great. Beautiful views of the Carquinez strait. There are some good trails here for running or walking and the park has some BBQ grills.

Just found out about this park recently as we were looking for somewhere to take our dogs swimming. Pleasantly surprised to find it tucked away behind a residential area. Park was clean and there was a small Pebble Beach and cove which was a nice safe area to swim for both people and dogs. We didn't venture out further but would like to check out the trails there another time
