I never hunted with this business, but I'm glad it never happened. I am a business owner and my brother in law is a Marine and Sacramento Sheriff. I wanted to pay for his hunt as a gift for serving our country so I asked if they offer any discounts for people who served or are active law enforcement. The response I got was rather shocking. Rather than asking questions, he just assumed he knew the situation and thought I was asking for myself. One of the businesses I own is a referral business based on military / law enforcement appreciation. However based on his response (as seen in the photo attached) he comes off as if he has a dislike for military and law enforcement, which is weird because every hunter / guide I've run into are quite the opposite. This was his response.

I'm not sure where to begin. These folks are nice on the phone and even in person, but conduct a crappy business. I've been hunting ducks for years, and usually belong to a club. This year, our club sold their land and we weren't able to find any openings at a new club, so we decided to book a few guided hunts instead. We booked with Garcia's because they were close. When the guide showed up 20 minutes after he was supposed to be there I should have known there would be problems. Not only did he show up late, he showed up without a dog. When we got to the field, one side of the check was so low on water that you could see more mud clumps that decoys. We did not pick up our guns the entire day. I have hunted long enough to understand that there are bad days, but charging people $300 each for a 3 hour hunt in a sub-par blind is not cool! After the hunt we considered having them plant a few pheasants. When they told us there was a $150 minimum per hunter we balked. We were willing to pay full price ($27/bird) for the birds even after getting skunked at their crappy duck blind, but they still wanted to make us each buy 5 pheasants. That's just poor business. I will add, the the guide (Andy) was a great guy and seemed legitimately sorry that we had such a bad duck hunt, but when Jim Garcia told us "that's hunting" and he couldn't help us out on the minimum amount of birds we had to buy to in order for it to make it worth his while to plant them, I decided I will never recommend or visit his establishment again.

This is the best hunting club that I've been to in California. First off, it is incredibly well run and managed. It seems to be a family run business and the people that work there are professional and helpful whether your a novice or long time hunter. The terrain is excellent with a wide variety of habitat: there are wild grass fields, tules, creek and wooded areas as well as rice fields. The birds are in excellent health and fly well and fast. Don't know if they breed on site, but whoever does it is doing a great job. I've tried many clubs and this is the best run and operated club.

I've bought a 30 bird pheasant card from them for 6 straight years now. It's a well run club with good cover and I strongly recommend them especially considering how close they are to Sacramento.
