Sweetest little treasure shop! I adore the owners and stop by whenever I can to see what's new. I love supporting this place because Ruth is so nice and her prices are fair.

Love this little shop! I've purchased a few little knick knacks in the past but I mainly go there for the goat milk soap Ruth keeps in stock. Every time I'm home from school I make sure to stop in to check out what she has in stock and load up on several bars of that wonderful soap.

I am very, very partial to the owners, Ruth and her darling husband! They are the nicest people on Earth!!! I also love the eclectic mix of items in Ruth's shop. Between the Red Door (also on Elk Grove Blvd aka EGB), I furnish my first apartment with neat antique and retro items. Ruth has a great eye for making something out of nothing and displaying things. Her shop, while small, is a wonderland of delight! This is tied for my FAVORITE shop on EGB with the Red Door! They are MUST SEES in Old Town Elk Grove!!!

This is a fun store to mill about it. Try to visit when street festivals are not going on as it gets pretty dang crowded inside during those times. The owner and her husband make visits to Nebraska to gather the interesting pieces she sells from her shop in Old Town. I love going in just to hear her stories of the items. When my daughter was little, she loved a pink telephone that was for sale there, and the owner would tell her stories of Midwest operators and party lines. It was a sad day for my little girl when someone bought that phone! We have purchased several things here just for fun...old buttons, wall hangings, etc. We have even followed Homestead out to an annual Christmas fair she does at a Catholic school, somewhere in Carmichael if I remember correctly. Just a really fun shop.

From the Homestead is one of the most adorable antique stores I've ever been in! The owner, Ruth, has such a keen sense of style. It is unlike many other antique stores, where things are displayed haphazardly. Instead, the Homestead is clearly managed and maintained by a mom, or grandmother, with that great "nesting" instinct. You can find everything from vintage rugs, to housewares, and home decor. Many of the items in the Homestead are vintage pieces which have been "upcycled" or repurposed into something useful today. Not only is Ruth a great business woman, she's an artist! I bought a baby quilt from the 1930's, in mint condition, complete with gorgeous appliques! There are still a few things I have my eye on!!! Also, Ruth has numerous handmade soaps and candles that she brings back from trips to the Midwest. I have fallen in love with the Cryin' Creek wood wick candles. They have the most wonderful country and home-baked scents, and they sound like a tiny crackling fireplace when you burn them!!! I frequently travel to Old Eld Grove to look through this little shop, and make my way up and down the street to "Pomegranate", "Embellish" and "The Red Door". I highly recommend taking this little shopping tour of downtown Old Elk Grove if you have a free Saturday, or if you have a few gifts you need to buy! Have fun!!!
