My favorite used book store in San Joaquin County, I've been coming here for over 20 years. Though I no longer live in Stockton, I stop by each time I visit my in-laws. As the stocks are refilled through community donations, you never know what you will find here. Each trip is a literal literary treasure hunt. Out front are shelves and tables of sale items (buy one, get one free), and inside are shelves full of books of every genre. While you can find current titles, most of the items are older, with some classic tombs scattered in. You can also find the occasional book signed by the author. In addition, there are plenty of DVDs, records, CDs, and jigsaw puzzles. This location is quite large, so you can spend a lot of time perusing the stacks. I never come away empty-handed, buying for myself or gifts for friends and family. And everything is very reasonably priced, so bargains are galore. There is ample parking in the shopping center, and it's conveniently located very near I-5. And they do take donations of books and other media during business hours.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to visit this store but I'm so glad I finally did. If you love to read but don't like to pay full price for books and don't mind spending some time treasure hunting, this is the place for you! They had tons of books which were separated by genre and pretty neatly organized considering how many books were crammed into this space. They also have a decent sized selection of LP vinyls, CD's, DVD's and even some puzzles and games. The 2 paperback books I purchased were a steal at 75 cents each! I only wish they had longer hours but I believe that the store is staffed by volunteers so I'm not going to gripe too much about that. Bottom line-if you are an avid reader like me, definitely give this place a visit. I know I'll be back.

Friends of the Library is a wonderful bookstore with a comfortable community atmosphere! I have found an incredible selection of books--"modern" titles (i.e. "BookTok" books), vintage or classics, new and used, graphic novels and manga. There are CDs, DVDs, some VHS and cassettes, and vinyls to choose as well. There's something for everyone at an affordable price. Many of the things you'll find will be as little as $1 even! Jefferey, the manager, is very kind and helpful. Sometimes, this bookstore can get a bit busy on certain days with not a lot of volunteers, so I can understand why sometimes service may be slow. I have recommended this bookstore to many interested volunteers and bookworms that I know.

I've had the Friends of the Stockton Public Library Bookstore saved on Yelp for over a year and have been wanting to go. I finally made the time to go and it's safe to say, I've been consistently going every week since then! So much so that one time I was paying for my books, the sweet lady ringing me up asked me if I worked there - she must see me come in the bookstore often!Jeff and the rest of the kind people who work/volunteer here are awesome. All different walks of life and characters, it's always pleasant coming in for each visit.Everything in this bookstore is genuinely affordable. The prices for their used and new books are priced really well. Not to mention the selection they carry is pretty vast.I'm a bookish girly! I'll be the first to grab books for myself and my daughter but also the type to gift books to my loved ones and this is my go to bookstore to meet all those needs.Beyond books, they also have a wonderfully extensive array of puzzles and board games. I'm always impressed with their vinyl selection and what they have to offer in terms of dvds/blu-rays. I always come home with at least one book from here! There's no gatekeeping when it comes to things I love and I'm more than happy to let everyone know how great this bookstore is. You can check out their website for more information about them in terms of donating and even joining their membership. What I love most about spending my money here is I know it goes back into our community and our libraries. This is hands down my new go to bookstore!

Update: When the previous manager (Jan was her name I think) retired, this shop went downhill. The new manager is unpleasant and the store is always a mess at the entryway. I don't bother to go there anymore. My donated books go to regular thrift stores now.

We've been coming here for years. The guy who runs it is such a cool dude, always in there with his old hat, a huge smile and a quick chat. He'll welcome you to keep browsing after closing, never rushing his costumers when 5:00p comes around. Spacious, welcoming, various selection, clean environment and great prices! Just what we want from a bookstore. We always find treasures here! Especially for homeschoolers, reference section, magazines and so much more.

Great little shop moving old library books. Cheaper than b&n and just as good. Highly recommend. Besides it gives them money for new library books.

This bookstore is a gem! Readers in the know visit frequently to browse through its treasures (turnover is high). The inventory is wide-ranging and reasonably priced, and the manager's knowledge of the book trade is encyclopedic. Donations appear to be sorted and priced at the door, adding to its charm.
