Great views of the river, to the north and south. Interesting educational signs. Cool structures.

A very interesting and creatively designed water utility facility. I've never been here before, but I'm glad we visited. There's several ways in, we came from the bike path on the levee coming from the west. We walked along the river for awhile and then entered this facility. The artistic design featuring quotes related to water, rivers, the natural environment, and the Sierra mountains where we get our water in this inlet were all very tastefully chosen and integrated on the large wall that is the back (or front?) of the facility. There's several parts of this whole premises, and for the average person it might be hard to understand what is what, but there's several diagrams throughout the area that explains the purpose and significance of the parts of the facility. Of course, there's the water tower as well which is a very significant landmark in this region.Overall, it's a beautiful way for this otherwise simply technical and necessary water utility facility to be made into a publicly accessible and enjoyable little courtyard and viewing area along the Sacramento river levee. The bike path comes from Garcia Bend park (& beyond from the west and northwest) all the way to this facility and then the path continues onto BT Collins Sports Complex, although you would need to cross Freeport Blvd to get to it. It pretty much ends after that. I'm glad there's this little known and yet scenic lookout over the river, it is nothing super fancy or special. And yet in its simplistic but artistic design, it ties everything together both from the nature it's utilizing to bring us water from the Sierra Nevada mountains to the engineering facility that is the heart of this place.

The Freeport Regional Water Facility is amazing. It has an enormous observation deck which overlooks the Sacramento River. The facade of the structure has several inspirational and meaningful inscriptions with regard to the water system in our beautiful valley. This is a must see for you history and museum buffs. Added bonus: the bike path along the Sacramento R. Now cuts all the way through to Freeport blvd (hwy 160), and it goes right along the water facility observation deck :)

Lucy has such a GREAT review that you can't say much more about this place. The only thing I can add is this is a great place to spy on your fellow fishermen to see if the fish are bite'n. Hehe.
