So I don't go fishing very often but on a lazy Sunday thought I'd be fun. Stopped here for some bait and wow the Asian dude working there was super grumpy and unfriendly and didn't even say thanks, bye, adios, nada. There are several other bait shops in the same vicinity I'll definitely remember not to patronize this one.

It will either be a great experience or the worst. One of the guys that works there is awesome and the other is completely rude! Better off going to Freeport market.

This is a regular stop for me when I am riding the motorcycle along the Sacramento River.A typical small bait shop that has everything for fishingplus all the great snacks and drinks that every fisherman (and/or fisherwoman) wants! I stop there usually to get an ice cold drink from the cooler and relax outside under the shade trees. This place and town has quite a bit of history. At one timethis store and the Rio Vista Bait shop was owned bythe same party. Now they are a separate entity. On the side of the building are small post office boxes. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/2zQLzhPKJR7HqoeH2yrWvA?select=UxYV6ArnTx_11GEVmfaUcgLong ago (the employee told me back in the '50's and '60's) this store housed the post office for Freeport, CA. Now these places all have Sacramentoaddress. Also out back there is a small brick smoke house. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/2zQLzhPKJR7HqoeH2yrWvA?select=PuW_UVVY4Sl0D_liTre-8Q One can only assume that maybe fish was one of the items they smoked there? These small places sometimes have interesting history....if only walls could talk! :)Interesting facts about Freeport from Wikipedia:"Freeport, California is located approximately 3 miles south of Sacramento city limits. Freeport lies on the banks of the Sacramento River. Freeport is community with a population of 125, according to the town limit sign and an elevation of 18. Freeport has post office with ZIP code of 95612. Freeport was formed by landowner John Freeport in 1929 who owned the land where current Freeport is."

We always stop by Freeport Bait & Tackle Co for bait and snacks before heading out to go fishing. It is a small shop that sells the normal baits, snacks, fishing supplies, etc. The guy working the counter is always super nice and helpful, he'll even give you the latest updates on what the hottest baits are for using or which spots to go for the best fishing.

Chris and Kelly are not only super knowledgeable but also beyond nice. I got two poles from they today and they totally hooked me up as well as explained some basics which were super helpful. The prices for bait and pretty much everything in the store is super reasonable. I will 1000% be back and recommend everyone to come see you two. Thank you for the advice as well as my new poles I am so excited to go fishing.

Great shop with everything you might need for local fishing. There was a very nice woman working the counter when I went. She advised me on the correct lures to use, and directed me to a couple of good spots. The shop is nicely organized.
