Folsom Lake is a nice recreation state park. I've been coming here since as long as I could remember. It's one of the closest lakes in the Sacramento area where you can come to for outdoor water sports, or just to relax on the sand and be near water. There are multiple entry points to the lake, depending on your purpose. Beal's Point is nice if you want to come and chill or hang out, lay on the "beach", barbecue, or play in the water. It's great for families, friends or solo. You can also bring your paddle board or kayak too. If you have a boat, or jet skis, there is another entrance for that so that you can unload them into the water. There's 3 separate lanes for you to back up and unload into the water and everyone is usually mindful of each other's watercraft. I like the fact that they have a shop there onsite for last-minute items (tools, etc.) that you need for your boat or jet skis, including snacks and refreshments. There are also bathrooms onsite with a few stalls. There's plenty of parking also. It's nice to spend a whole day or 1/2 day here. We spent a good amount of time on the water and I loved it - nothing like soaking in the sun and playing in the water in hot days.I can't wait to come back and spend more time on the water.

First time time at Folsom Lake! Entered through the Folsom Lake-Granite Bay Entrance, on Douglas Blvd. Staff at the gate was nice and friendly. Parking is $12. Came here beginning of May to check out the lupine flowers. I parked at the Beek Bights parking lot as I was told that is where lupine flowers are at! Of course I came too late into the season as most were wilting. Was able to get a glimpse of some at least. It was a nice day out. Since I came on a weekday morning, it wasn't crowded at all. Peace and quiet. Walked around to check out all the wildflowers. After, did some hiking around the trails. Took a break to see the amazing view of Folsom Lake! Thanks to all the rain we had, the water level looks so much better! There is restroom located at the Beek Bights parking lot. Super convenient. There are multiple parking lots and spots.Folsom Lake is a great place to hike, camp, explore and more! Definitely coming back next year to catch all the lovely lupine flowers.

Have been to this place once during our visit to Folsom back in 2019. It was frequented by families from the neighborhood. Some families were using the BBQ and some were sitting by the lake.It was a very hot day so we visited it in the evening, when it was easier to hang out. Sitting near the water helped to further cool down a bit. There are some table and seat kind of structures so you can hang out there in case you don't want to sit on the floor. There are a lot of areas to walk around. Parking is free and could be found along the roadside.

I absolutely love lupines and can't wait until I get to see the fields in New Zealand. When I heard there is a field of lupines in California, I was elated! We stopped by with our friends on our way home and it was fantastic! Though the super bloom season is at its tail-end, we thoroughly enjoyed the landscape and of course the lupines! Without a doubt, Beeks Bight is picturesque and something I could see as a main scene in a movie or a game and a beautiful hike. I love how close the water is, where even the lupines are submerged in certain areas. Parking is $12/vehicle and good for all the different entrances. We accidentally entered another spot until we realized the lupines were mainly at the Granite Bay entrance. Restrooms are located at the entrance to the parking lot by Beeks Bight.

Folsom Lake is a great local spot for swimming, hiking, biking and more. Perfect for summer fun, family gatherings and when you just need some fresh air. We love finding new spots to park and take in the sights and sounds of nature. We recently visited to see the Lupine Super Bloom and WOW I am so glad we saw it. The flowers were stunning! We visited two parts of the lake, up on the Rattlesnake Bar Entrance, there was way less people and I felt more shade. Then we went to see the popular Beek's Bight location, there was a lot more people at this location. There are plenty of trails to explore. The Lake water levels are super low this year, it was crazy low. I am not sure how that will affect swimming and boating season this year.

4/18/2019: Can you say, "Inspirational, spur-of-the-moment, wild hair, road trip?" Yup, that was me fo' sho'~lol! Feeling joyfully accomplished, I finished attending my necessary doctor's appointment: I opened my truck's driver side door, sat down, turned on the ignition switch, and I began peering down at my truck's gas gauge frowning . . . WAAAAH~What happened?! Didn't I just fill up my truck's gas tank, eh?Well~THAT'S JUST FINE AND DANDY-GRRRRR: I immediately began debating, no~ensuing rebuttal arguments deciding whether I HAD to make a road trip to Bass Pro and Harbor Freight plus, buy gas at Costco located in Roseville CA . . . Hemming, hawing with two imaginary beings plopped onto both my shoulders debating, arguing making the necessary road trip incited my plotting, lame excuses driving to Roseville . . . ANYWAY~Eye-rolling and tap dancing ensues, again . . . Yeah BUT, driving down Highway 50 every single, fricken time is beyond egregiously BORING! Let's do something different, alright? ALRIGHT! Ok~Let's take WHITE ROCK EXIT from Highway 50 turning right, since you never drove this parkway: Drive a few miles, turning left onto Green Valley, making a quick right onto Salmon Falls Road driving a PLETHORA of miles to IDK and I don't care, road trip!OH~Rattlesnake Road and Highway 49!!???? WOT????Am I near Peninsula Campground???? Didn't I make the same countless mistakes driving this stretch of road in the dark on July 4, 2016? YAH~IGNORE GPS LEE GARMIN! Instead, follow the signs to Peninsula Campground and update your YELP REVIEW! OK~Stellar plan! Upon committing driving this stretch of road, noticeably apparent-the asphalt has been upgraded-finally . . . Pleasantly pleased.About twelve minutes later, I arrive at Peninsula Campground's Kiosk: I submit my Veteran's Park Pass and my Military ID Card to the two Rangers on duty; I received my truck's Park Pass placing it onto my truck's windshield and more importantly, I received an updated map of Folsom Lake, too.BTW: VETERANS~AVOID RESERVE AMERICA'S CAMPING RESERVATION FEES BY CALLING PENINSULA KIOSK INSTEAD . . . Call Rangers inquiring what campsites are available before leaving your house in order, avoiding paying the $7.00 chump fee! In addition, the BEST DAYS camping at Peninsula Campground are Sunday through Thursday evenings but, make sure you quickly begin checking out EARLY Friday morning. Why? Because it's crucially imperative checking out early due to Rattlesnake Road is quite treacherous with inconsiderate people driving on the asphalt AS IF, ASSUMING they're the only humans driving Rattlesnake Road, i.e., please do avoid car accidents!Incidentally, observing the map while visiting the Day Use Boat Ramp Area playing, splashing my feet into Folsom Lake, I noticed Peninsula Campground hasn't added additional showers! WHY NOT? From my July 4, 2016 disappointing camping experience here, I sadly discovered the only showers available were adjacent to Campsites 74 through 82~RATS! As a result of observing Folsom Lake's updated map today-4/18/2019, I decided photographing the campsites surrounding the bathroom/shower facilities while visiting Peninsula Campground. Please stringently study the map and ALL the photos I took of each campsite so, you'll make an informed decision for your family the campsite's location where you wish camping comfortably.FYI: Peninsula Campground has TWO boat ramps. The second boat ramp is near Campsites 55-100. Campsites 30 through 73 are not flat, i.e., STEEP hillsides! I spent four hours here . . . Now, my stomach is growling~Time to head towards Roseville!

WOW. Didn't know that the super bloom hit this area and it wasn't disappointing by any means. The sad thing is that with the drought the lake is low but I can only imagine what it is like when it is filled. What a hidden gem.

Great little side road to Folsom Lake. We really enjoyed the experience . If you had a boat you could launch down at the end of the road.

Love the swimming area if you are doing a big group but also love that you can find so many areas to park kayak and lay out or whatever for the day. Especially if you like more secluded areas .
