We had a fun time on a trip with Captain Canevaro, who made sure that everything was taken care of. Barry told us stories, kept us appraised of the situation, and made sure that everything was working out well. We were disappointed that we didn't catch anything, but that wasn't Barry's fault... though we were surprised that there were no bait changes when we were at the same spot, and were a little concerned with the amount of WD 40 on the reels. That said though, even without the bait changes, it was a fun, relaxing trip, at a reasonable cost. Barry took care of us, and made sure everything, including payment, was simple as can be.

Capt. Barry Canevaro took us out on a wonderful fishing journey. I was a little hesitant because haven't been fishing since I was a little kid. Barry made it totally easy. All you have to do is come with some great friends and pack a lunch and Barry takes care of the rest. He provides the boat, the fishing poles, etc. He teaches you what to do and makes it very easy. When you pull in the fish he takes care of it. At the end of the trip Barry cleans the fish for you to take home. I wish I could give Barry 10 stars because that is how much fun we had. The only thing you have to remember is that if you get sea sick bring the dramamine.

BIG RED BOAT with the words Fish Hookers came flying by me, full throttle in MONTEZUMA SLOUGH on 11/9/12. COMPLETELY UNSAFE!!!!! Their boat was literally 40 ft from mine while I was ANCHORED!!! Illegal? Caused damage to my rods from them rocking my boat so hard that other equipment fell all over the place. BTW, the guy driving smiled.....nice. Good luck staying afloat in this economy with the way you handle yourselves on your place of business! I cant imagine how horrible that situation could have been! If anyone else was in my shoes when this happened you would be flabergasted at how close they were at the speed they were going in a part of the slough that is maybe 50 yrds wide. IF the captain of that boat reads this. HELLO!! Im the Bass Tracker you completely had no RESPECT for!!! Anytime charter boats are brought up I will give my opinion to the fullest!!! Smart move man...smart move....

Went out Memorial Day to celebrate a friend's birthday. The initial billing was that of a "sturgeon" fishing trip. Everyone was excited to fish for sturgeon. When we boarded the boat, Capt. Barry advised us that we were fishing for stripers. WHAT??? Stripers? Stripers typically play second or third fiddle on a multi-species fishing trip. Heck you can fish for stripers from the surf. Would be like booking a catfish charter? Would you spend $800+ to fish for just stripers? or just catfish? Maybe I'm wrong (I'm not) but when you charter the entire boat, you get to decide what you're gunna fish for. Ok, so we figured that Capt. Barry was convinced that striper fishing would be more prosperous than sturgeon. After 9 hours of fishing, not one qualifying fish made it into our boat. Two small stripers were all we hooked and they were tossed back. I have been on a ton of fishing charters in the bay area-usually out of the Berkeley Marina. Some larger boats, but also some 6-packs too. Never before have I been on a boat where there was not a single keeper caught! Just like "John L" wrote in his review of 6/14/2010, we never changed bait the entire day! I started with a lure at 6:30 AM and finished the day with the same friggin' lure at 3 PM. WTF? John L., I have no idea what you mean when you write that "Barry took care of us.." took care of your money you mean. All we did was run up and down a few spots between the Pittsburg Marina and Antioch Bridge-OVER and OVER and OVER again. When I checked the webiste www.fishhookers.com and read their latest fishing report, I noticed that he omitted the shutout we had on Memorial Day. I spoke to two other people that have chartered his boat and both were very dissatisfied. One of them also experienced a "ZERO" for the day. Barry seemed like a nice enough guy, and his deckhand, Jeff, was cool too (I got the sense sometimes he was as frustrated as we were). But we weren't there to make buds with the crew, we were there to celebrate our friend's birthday and catch some fish! The amount of money he charged for a non-live bait charter was too high. I felt bad for my friend. He got ripped off in my opinion. Capt. Barry should offer him a partial refund or another trip for fuel cost only. And this time, he should fish for what the customers want-it's their money!

Fished with Barry of Fish Hookers Sportfishing recently. We had a great time that included a keeper sturgeon. He is one of the most knowledgeable 6 pack captains in Northern California. He answered all our questions, and told us all the secrets of catching sturgeon in the delta. I would recommend Barry to anyone who wants to not only catch fish, but learn how to fish the delta.

Took my grandson and a buddy fishing for stripers and had a great time. Great guide, great day, many fish. Treated my grandson as his own. Took pictures to send to the local paper as well as the Fish Sniffer paper. Recommend him highly. 39 years experience and knows what he is doing.

I fished with capt. Berry of fish hookers in early feb.2012. We had a great time it was a sturgeon trip, so I really didnt expect much other than a couple bites at best. The tides were good and he took us to lots of spots on the incoming and outgoing he was very open to my questions and was very helpful to my sturgeon education.I would recommend this boat to other people and yes! we caught a keeper 58" It was great watching another angler getting his first keeper.I had plenty of take down chances myself and we used 4 different types of bait and lots of pro cure maybe if it wasnt such an amazing no wind, lake like conditions in feb.I am sure I would have caught one that day.The capt.did his job well and mother nature did one better! sunny and warm, I got slow on the bite, z z z . . . looking forward to another outing soon!
