If you are traveling through downtown (read old town) Livermore, find First Street Alehouse and stop in. This place is homey, decorated super cute, has indoor and outdoor seating, super friendly staff, and plenty of tvs to watch whatever sports are currently playing. This was the first time the hubster and I popped in after dropping a friend off in Milpitas. We decided to share the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. On the advice of our server we got the spicy peppers on the side. The hubster said they weren't all that hot. This was not the "classic" Philly, in my opinion, it had a cheddar cheese instead of a Swiss. It definitely tasted good but wasn't what I was expecting. For what was paid, I felt the portions were also tad small. We left wishing we had tried a burger instead, which they are known for. Lesson learned. Would I still recommend the First Street Alehouse...absolutely. I love to support smaller businesses and appreciate the diversity they bring to their communities. Give them a try. We will certainly go again when we are in the area.

As a near-lifetime Livermore resident, it feels almost sacrilegious to give the beloved Alehouse a negative review. Firstly, it has always been overrated. The food options, having tried many at this point, are good, not great. It's not quite up to par with other restaurants of the same ilk in this department. I'd normally give a three star, but recently I had a one-star experience. I am giving a two because over the years the restaurant has been largely consistent, but this recent experience has put quite the damper on my New Years experience. The day before new years, I went out to eat with a group. I got the fish and chips, which I've gotten before, which are OK. Rebel does them better, but I digress.Fast forward one hour post-meal and my stomach is hurting. You may know where this is going. After this point it will get a little graphic, so reader discretion advised.A few more hours and most of the meal has been violently expunged from my throat. I'm feeling chills. It's obviously food poisoning. I throw up throughout the night, hardly sleeping, and I'm in bed all day the next day. One of my friends got the chicken and even he threw up once. And a personal boo-hoo moment, I also have to miss a new years celebration that I was looking forward to. It is the second of January and I am still queasy, keeping on the BRAT diet. Finally managed to gain some weight recently, and I think I will be losing a few pounds by the time this is done.In a word: don't get the fish. And really, I'm not sure if any of the food is safe. It'll be hard to come back here, which is a shame since I've had some good times here.

It was excellent. I had the brie and pesto burger with a portobello mushroom, along with garlic fries. The burger was delicious. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My partner had the Reuben and sweet potato fries. He really liked the Rueben, but the sweet potato fries were just so-so. The y were made much better with the sweet and sour sauce. We decided to go non-alcoholic, and there were lots of options, something that's unusual. As you would expect from an ale house, the beer selection was outstanding. Our server was attentive without being overly interrupting.

Took a day trip to Tracy and stopped by here for lunch. Ordered Ahi Tacos and a light beer. Asked the waitress for recommendations, and she offered a beer sample tasting to help me choose the best one. Finally, I went with Firestone 805 to pair with the tacos. The Ahi Tacos were amazing--fresh, flavorful, and even came with rice. Loved the beer, perfect for lunch! Super friendly service, and most importantly, the restaurant is dog-friendly. Definitely on my list now!

First time trying First Street Alehouse and it did not disappoint. The service was amazing. Me and my friend went Friday night and we got seated very quickly. Our waitress was very nice and offered us many recommendations. She was amazing. Our waitress was checking in on us frequently throughout our dine there. The ambiance was really nice inside. The decorations inside was one of a kind. It was not too loud and was not too quiet. It was just right. They even had some sports games on all the televisions in the restaurant it was very nice experience. The food was amazing. I ordered a Reuben sandwich with a side over of there Ceasar salad. It was very delicious. A good point to make is they do not charge on refills sodas. My glass was fully most of night being there. I overall give this restaurant a solid 4 stars out of 5 stars. I have no complaints here and will definitely be back to try more and I want to try there "Soup of the day" they serve there next!

I went on a friday and loved the ambiance and the vibe of this place. I ordered house sampler- ,Shrimp, Mozarrella sticks , garlic fries Annan order of Nachos. The portion size was huge. The food was fresh and tasted great. For drinks they only have wine and beer in their menu but it wasn't a big deal. My wife ordered a frozen Margarita and I got a local beer which was good.I will go again and try out their sandwiches and burgers next time.

First street has always been a good consistent place for me to eat in Downtown Livermore, but apparently it took me so long to find out that it's pooch friendly lol They even serve a dog patty. How awesome is that! I did feed my dog pieces cuz he would have finished in one bite.I got the alehouse club and it was pretty good. Although, it's really big like I kinda struggled on taking a bite hehe The ciabatta bun was a little overly toasted but nothing too bad. Large screen t.v.s posted all over to watch the game(s). Good drinks. Good vibes all around.
