This place is craptastic.Everything is over-priced by a massive amount, the whole store is pretty messy and feels like a garage-sale, the employees are rude and overbearing, and they have the most poorly-run Magic (trading card game) tournaments I've ever seen. They have a selection of comic/game figurines that have been sitting in the store for years, untouched, because of how overpriced they are, same with their old used videogames. They charge $30 for $10 card, as an example. They have no bathroom, yet host 30~person 4 hour tournaments.Every other store I've gone to for tournaments allows food and drinks, yet the owner here will always tell you to take it outside, yet they sell snacks and drinks inside. What the fuck? Poorly organized, haphazard, unprofessional, and downright incompetent is how I would describe it all. Avoid it, you'll be so glad you did. Any online retailer or other local game store is about a million times better.

My 10 year old son found out about Epic Comic and Cards from Youtube. He was looking for a place to play Magic the gathering tournament. So I brought him up here to check this place out and I was amazed. Now we have two very good Comic shops in Stockton. If your up on the North side of Stockton give these guys a try.

Every action figure/figurine here is SCALPED to hell. Also, every time I passed by I noticed almost everything has SAT because no one wants to pay RIDICULOUSLY HIGH PRICES for action figures. They claim they base their prices from ebay and amazon, but its as if they OVERLOOK/IGNORE all the auctions that sold at reasonable prices. HUGE FAIL, and HUGE SIGN OF A SCALPER.Employees are obnoxious, annoying, and have poor people skills. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS ATROCITY OF A BUSINESS. Handle your Magic games/tournaments elsewhere, find the figures/collectibles you are searching for CHEAPER ONLINE WITH SHIPPING!

Epic takes the place of Grapevine comics and so far its doing its best to stay afloat. I was skeptical of the place at first for these reasons:: *Its prices on its items are too high for the area. They shouldn't charge Bay Area prices in a low to middle income area. *They don't have or even order new comics.Instead they would rather you give them your credit or debit card info and order stuff for you,ie a subscription based service. They don't want to order comics and deal with back issues. But if you consider yourself a comic book store new comics is what keep buyers coming to your store.*Epic does sale comic books but they buy and give credit for older comics. I'm sorry to say but the prices on their older books are too high. So they don't seem to move product that fast. *They do buy or trade for comics, video games/consoles,toys, and card games. But they only give you 30% of what they are worth in terms of cash. And then sale your stuff for its inflated value. Granted its a courtesy that they even offer to give something for you stuff. But its not cool that they low ball you in terms of giving you fair value for your stuff. *They don't update the prices on their used video games. Games that were valued at 39.99 a month a go but drops to 20 bucks at most if not all retail outlets is still priced at 39.99 at the store.*They don't move their product that fast. The store has been in business for about a year now yet I see the same items on their shelves.Epic should price their stuff to move in order to get new products but they don't. But not all is bad at Epic. The owner and his son are really cool guys in person. The owner is just more of a shrewd business man who is new to a hobbyist type of market. When running a hobby based business its not about pure profit its about supplying your customer base with what they want to enjoy their hobby. You take care of your customers and they will support you. Your not supposed to purely profit off your customer base especially in a hobby based business.I've seen many stores fail and close using this tactic. I don't want Epic to suffer the same fate. Epic has a lot of potential to get better. It has a growing magic and card game playing community. Its also the place to go to find and buy hard to find and rare video game consoles. They have quite a few comic back issues left over from the previous owner that they sale for a dollar. If your lucky you can find some hidden gems for only a buck. The owner is friendly and cool to chat with. And their customer service is decent. Epic just needs to ease up on its hard business practices, price their stuff to move in order to get new products, order and support new comic sales, keep up with price changes as far as their video games and other products, and be more flexible in terms value of buying and trading stuff from their customers.
