Facility had plenty parking space, good clean ramp with a single dock. There was a thick layer of dried mud in parking lot from recent flooding due to rainstorms. $12 to launch. Has bathrooms, but was locked just before 8:00am.

The fishing guide said to meet him at the airport gas station and he'd get us to the boat launch from there.Looking at the map I was pretty confused, but figured it best to go with the plan, which lead us here. Before I get philosophical, the facility offers ample parking in the shade, a single dock and boat ramp, machines to pay parking and fees, and a small beach you can fish from too. Cleanliness and safety here in the dark hours of the night may be questionable. We found remnants of a glass pipe used to consume narcotics on the dock and despite trash cans, litter around too. Now... a boat launch under a freeway overpass? Never thought I'd see that in my lifetime, but there's a first time for everything. To me this is a sad sign of the effects development has had on our world. At one point this river ran free through this area, but now it has been built up around and over by society. Our guide told us how the agricultural land that surrounds the river drains water from it for irrigation, and also shared at other times the river floods the houses too. Development like this isn't a win for anyone in the long run.

I am not a big Sacramento/feather river boater but wanted to explore it. My family and I visited the Elkhorn boat launching site in mid August. The location was clean but very crowded, it was a weekend. The site is located right under I-5 interstate and very shady because of the bridge. It was nice to come back to a truck not being hot. We did not find the restrooms so had to go elsewhere. The laughing ramp is steep but nothing a 4x4 can't handle. The parking and launching fee was very cheap and the machine they have takes cash or cards. (Modern) Overall I would visit this location again but maybe on a weekday. On weekend do anticipate to get there early or it will be crowded by mid-day. Happy boating.

Quiet, convenient, and inexpensive. Great place to launch a boat or PWC. The ramp is steep, but it's grooved concrete and very well built. The dock is also very modern and seems very new. It's right next door to Swabbies so you can get chow and drinks. Nice picnic area shaded by big oaks too. A diamond in the rough!

Why has the boat ramp been closed for so long? There is nowhere to launch a boat between Verona and Discoverey Park on either side of the river! This is crazy at least open the ramp or get the dam place up and running has been closed for months and months what the hell is wrong!!!! Management maybe?

Ridiculous how long this has taken to fix. Two years and no repairs ! For the last 45 years is has been a great place to go. People rely on this ramp not just for recreational purposes but for all boat and dock owners, because it's the only launch ramp on the Sacramento side for 20-40 miles!

Drove 40 minutes to get here. Online says launch is open. Get to boat launch and retaining block walls have blocked it off closing it. No boat access! Website should be updated.

Only 3 stars very easy open launch but when we when to pull our trailer out it got stuck in a pot hole. We had to go under water to get it out. It's located right side next to docks!!

Today I went to launch my boat at the Elkhorn boat ramp as I do every Tuesday morning. When I got there (6:15 AM) there were three cars parked on the ramp with the trunks open and the persons in the cars were all fishing off the boat dock. I asked if they would move their cars so I could launch my boat and was told they would be leaving in about an hour. I waited 45 minutes then left and went home, trying hard to avoid a confrontation that might have disastrous results. If that weren't bad enough, there was a very old pick-up truck parked in the area where boats prepare before launching. A very disheveled man was sleeping in the truck until he left at 7:00 AM. This ruined my day. Why should I pay to use these facilities if lawbreakers are left to do whatever they want and intimidate the fisherman as if this were the wild west. My parking permit expires in September and I have to decide whether or not to renew it, as well as my fishing license. My two fishing partners are considering this, as well. When I mentioned to the illegal parkers that this was a boat ramp and not a parking lot, they stated they there were no signs posted and they were there first. Perhaps you need to post the obvious sign stating no parking on the ramp and use of the ramp and parking lot requires payment. Also, more and more I've noticed fisherman fishing from the boat dock. This has always occurred, but in the past they would pull in their lines when a boat was coming or going. Recently, they seem to think we boaters are required to maneuver around them. Come on, authorities, do your job and clean this up or following will occur: 1) law abiding citizens will start breaking the law that nobody is enforcing; 2) legal fisherman will go elsewhere or just hang up the sport; and/or 3) a physical confrontation might occur which might become a news item that points back to the law enforcers.
