Great beginner course. This 9 hole course is pretty wide open at most sites with minimal trees and wide open spaces. It is really great place to start playing without having to deal with losing your discs in some thick underbrush. I don't visit this course as much as it doesnt require any real technical shots. There are some trees blocking some of the holes from the bad but nothing that would be considered too difficult. It really is a great place to bring out someone new to the game. There are some issues as others have mentioned. Due to the lack of trees there isnt really much cover and it can get pretty hot during the day. There are also issues with lack of maintenance. This site is actually also an overflow parking lot on holes 4 through 9 during major events. At the time of this review, hole 4 was actually removed and there is some construction material around. It definitely is a good starter course but there will be a point where you will start to visit the more popular courses in the Sacramento Area. Ill occasionally come out here for distance throwing and trying out some new discs without fear of losing them!

It's as basic as basic can get. It's moderately well maintained which is nice. It's little more than a practice course but it's nice to have this option minutes from my residence. It's never crowded. In fact it'll rare to even see one or two others partaking in a round. There are no water features and it's completely flat. Most of the holes have grass or groomed weeds. There are a couple that have rough landing areas with dirt and rock that can tear up your disc. On these I usually pull out a disc that works just for this purpose. The course can get a little swampy in spots during the wi tee time. Parking is free and abundant. It's a really nice old park and having a disc golf course as a part of the park is certainly a welcomed feature. I hope at some point the city puts a fewdollars into making the course a more desirable layout. I don't think that's likely as it's used for overflow parking when the park hosts the occasional large draw events like the western festival. I just left the course but will add a few pictures next time time I'm out for a round.

Did you know that Elk Grove Regional Park has an 9 hole, Par 35 Disc Golf Course ? Living here in Elk Grove for over 25 years, I did not know it ever existed. But "YES "they do ! The Disc Golf Course was designed by "John Kimball" in 2007. The course is a 9 hole course , Pro Par 24, Recreational Players Par 35 and for people like me that can't throw a frisbee Par 100 !!I am sure back in the day when this course was first built, the course was lush green and well manicured. Today is another story ! The drought has severely browned many areas of the course. Best played on a cool day, early in the morning or early evening when the temperature is a little cooler. Overall a well designed course just some holes are brown and dusty !

Extremely open course, not too many tree obstacles. One hole is down due to construction in the area, so anticipate an 8 hole game rather than a 9 hole. I would also suggest bug spray as we are getting to the summer months. With the pond nearby, the mosquitoes were feisty while we played.

The course at Elk Grove park is more or less a practice course that gives newbies and those who want to hone their skills a chance to toss the disc at some pretty basic holes. The course is great for that! Why 3 stars? The biggest reason is the maintenance of the course. The grounds crews have not maintained the areas within the course for quite a while. Most of the fields that are used are overgrown, with one hole having grass as tall as 6 to 7 inches. With the courses being poorly maintained, you can easily lose your disc in the overgrowth. The course is generally muddy and the grass will stick to your shoes, especially if you play in the morning. If you do want to play in the early morning, you will probably need to wear rain boots or waders as the dampness and the grass will soak your shoes and your feet.If you're an expert disc golf player looking for a challenge, this course is not it. If you're a newbie or you've been out of the game for a while and want to try to get in some practice before going to the harder courses, then this is a great place to go!

I love this park, it is in my back yard. We have lived here for years and about a year ago we found out there is a 9 hole disk golf course, so my husband and I decided to give it a try about a year later and every chance we get we are on this course or another course. Beautiful scenery to be surrounded by as you play. Also not to long ago they added a putting basket for practice, up by the building to the right as you walk up to the 1st tee pad super happy about that upgrade. Overall great course to try out if you have not been out their yet...

I'm a beginner and have been to about 7 courses. This course is by far the best beginner course there is. The park shouldn't allow cars to park on the course for the park's events. It tears the course up. People here are very friendly.
