El Rancho Inn-Steak & Lobster House

I miss ray and his staff, I moved back to Santa Cruz.That was by far my favorite restaurant in the Stockton area the food were always huge portions and excellent Ray was always the best host.I miss seeing all the horse racing memorabilia on the walls.

I didn't know this is what I have been craving until, I ate. We walked in pretty close to opening for dinner. By the time we left, it was a packed house. They brought right over, bread and veggie tray. I ordered teriyaki chicken. It does come with a decent size side salad, onion rings and loaded baked potato (everything is on the side). I really appreciated the bucket of butter at our table because you need lots of butter for your potato's. My food was very hot and sooooo good. Hubby had a New York steak, which also comes with all the above sides. They offered horse radish, and we were prewarned it was very strong. That it was! Service was great. Our server was on top of it.

2-1-25...7:30pmAs soon as you walk in your greeted with a welcoming hello and then your eyes are fixated on the fresh steaks & lobster to choose from in the glass case. Immediately you see the grill and here the sizzle from the steaks being prepared. I sat in the bar area next to the ohh so warm fire place that was a blaze. Ordered a blended strawberry margarita & the steak and prawns plate. The ambiance definitely has an ole skool vibe to it. Service was great. I will for sure stop by this steakhouse again

Been wanting to try for years. Place was packed on a Saturday night, 30 min wait. Luckily you can eat in & at the bar, sat right down. Bartender/server was very nice. Got our drinks and ordered. Then the food started coming, bread, relish tray, salad. By the way they make their own dressings, blue cheese on the salad was really good. Then the meal, ribeye with baked potato & onion rings (omg). Wife opted for the lobster as well (anniversary). All cooked perfectly. Love the interior!Might be a bit pricey to some, but I made French toast with leftover bread the next morning , then made a steak & onion ring with eggs for dinner. Awesome!

We went here for my sister's birthday because my dad would always go here when I was a kid. We were welcomed so warmly and we arrived at 4:30 because we had a party of 8. Brings back memories of amazing steak and seafood. I had the New York strip which was cooked to perfection. It came with a baked potato and onion rings. I also had a glass of their house Pinot Noir which I enjoyed throughly with my steak. I'm so glad that this independently owned restaurant is still around. A must for anyone who visits Stockton.

The service was great. I was just disappointed that they didn't have appetizers on their dinner menu. My steak was cooked perfectly, well done, came with baked potato and union rings. I had steaks elsewhere, which tasted better. Most of the items on the menu are pricey. If you're a steak lover, give this place a try. This restaurant has been in business for a long time. Waitress and bar tender is friendly as well.

If you're looking for a place that offers a dining experience with a touch of homely charm, El Rancho Steakhouse should be on your list. As a steakhouse renowned for its steaks, I decided to try the shrimp scampi during my recent visit. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with rustic decor that reflected a classic steakhouse vibe. Once you sit down they serve you a relish tray and Genova bread (it was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle). They also start your dinner with a green salad which was very fresh. When my dinner came out, the 6 large shrimp were sautéed in a rich, buttery garlic sauce. They were cooked to perfection -- tender and flavorful without being overdone. My dinner also came with hand battered onion rings AND a baked potato with the fixings (sour cream, chives, and real bacon bits)!! Amazing dinner! The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our server Olivia was knowledgeable about the menu, offering suggestions and ensuring that our dining experience was smooth. Drinks were refilled promptly, and the timing of our meal was well-paced.

Atmosphere is fun, bar on one side and restaurant on the other.Our waitress was very attentive and provided a great service along with explaining the menu.You get some warm sliced bread and butter for gratis appetizer.All 3 of my party got the NY Strip with onion strings and french fries, with a side salad.The salads were loaded with kidney and garbanzo beans and were nice.The Steaks were huge and sadly all 3 were over cooked. We were so on a time crunch we delt with it.Sadly this is why I only gave it 3 stars.Excellent service, but the kitchen messed up the rating.

What was very good and what was not so good .Fried shrimp: Tasted excellent. Cooked and breaded to perfection. Obviously fresh.Onion rings. Surprisingly good, although I'm not an onion ring fan.Baked potato. Small but good.Service. Outstanding. Server visited my table several times to check on me and make sure everything was great.Salad. Terrible blue cheese salad dressing. Obviously from a jar. Strong taste of vinegar. Blue cheese dressing should not taste like vinegar.Bread bowl. Sliced grocery store bread.The price. Wow. I live in San Francisco. Prices at this restaurant are akin to a upper medium and restaurant in downtown San Francisco.

Very good old fashion food and service. Friendly and low key. Loved the seafood. We would go again gladly.
