Taking a short walk at this park reminded me the beginning of the pandemic. My gym was conducting daily 30 min classes at this park because gym/fitness facilities were not allowed to be opened. It was a way to move our bodies, social distancing, and support the local business. It was also an excuse to get out of the house and get some fresh air. The four square park features a play area, picnic facilities & a softball field with lots of trees and grass area. One circle around the park is about half a mile. A great park for the kids, dogs and family picnic/barbecue. While I love McKinley Park and William Land Park, East Portal Park is smaller with less car traffic. Easier to meet someone and walk your dogs.

What a great neighborhood park. They have a playground with slides, swings. There is a baseball diamond. The grassy hill is serene. There are picnic benches and places to bbq. They recently completed construction of the restrooms.

East portal is one of my favorite parks, I wish they could make it a dog park, I m a dog trainer and I work with a lot of dogs at this park, I have never seen any dog fights or problems when dogs are running and playing, kids and dogs get along so well and that's how it should be.

I've enjoyed East Portal so many times over the years that an update on my very limited previous review is the least I could do as a form of thanks. There are many beautiful parks in Sacramento, but this neighborhood park has so much to offer and is less trafficked (compared to some of the big parks, at least), which makes it my preferred park of choice. The activities I've enjoyed here over the years are endless. Countless picnics, soccer matches, volleyball, naps, walking dogs, watching the old timers play bocce ball and taking my son to the playground. My favorite activity of them all is just showing up with my son and a ball and enjoying the space, making up games and lounging in the shade. There are plenty of folks aout to interact with or just to people watch. The park is unique in that it is nestled in a neighborhood surrounded by beautiful homes. It's a vital resource and outdoor escape for so many who live nearby.

I just came here to check out the little free library box. I didn't realize it was all kids books. It's a good thing the boom I brought to trade is for 8-12 year olds. It's located by the playground. There's also a field and a shaded seating area at this park.

This is a pleasant park away from crowds and main traffic, located in the beautiful neighborhood of East Sacramento. It's a small, humble park for a relaxing time to walk through and around. A decent spread of benches sit around a main lawn of the park, where I imagine soccer games and other events might happen. On a weekend, I saw plenty of dog walkers with their furry friends pass by, making for a nice time to dog watchers too haha. If I'm in the area and need a place to break, I'd stop by this park.

This park is adorable. I came here for a birthday party for a friend of mine's daughter . I love how they have the play area for kids gated off so children can't escape and run into the street. There is also an area for bocce ball. The park has some amazing shade and trees.Because there's nothing like going to a park and there is hardly any trees or shade in the Sacramento Heat I love how this park is nestled right into the middle of the neighborhood. It had been very many many years since I have been here. This park is a great spot to take family members maybe who are visiting from out of town it's quiet and quaint.

East Portal Park is a four-square-block park located in central Sacramento. It's been a favorite of the local community for more than 60 years since its early years as, yup, a gravel pit (that's why it's so low in the middle). It's also the home of the East Sacramento Bocce Club, one of the nation's most highly respected bocce organizations, founded by none other than Al Capone (historical accuracy of this statement is highly suspect). But seriously, the club has been a symbol of our local Little Italy since the 70's and hopefully for generations to come.East Portal is one of four local community parks to host an annual Pops In The Park concert. These free family-friendly events offer an entire evening of fun, hanging out with friends, or even stalking someone to live music.Get over here!

This is my favorite park in Sac. We go here every day with he kids, either to the playground or just to run around in the grass. The playground is medium to small, has two slides, some money bars, a bridge, and a couple of swings. It is often busy during the day and early evening, but not too crazy like McKinley park. On the weekends they often have soccer or baseball in the mornings, and families BBQ or have parties around lunch, and then everyone brings their dogs out in the evenings and let them run around. If you want to crash a bounce house on a Saturday, this is the place to do it. We've done it once or twice with our kids. There is also he Bocci ball club that often has tournaments on weekends and league play during the week, and is a ton of fun.My only issue with the park are the dog owners who don't pick up there poop. Pick up your poop!
