I love this place. It's happens every Saturday under the cross town freeway downtown Stockton and is one of my favorite farmers markets. Like any good farmers market, it depends greatly on the season but that it occurs year round gives me a lot of comfort. In its peak season (late spring through summer) you'll find it thriving from a variety of standard farmers market wares (peaches, citrus fruits, standard herbs and leafy greens) to less standard but no less exciting offerings like Thai basil, okra leaves, egg plant, rice noodles, farmers eggs, and a pretty extensive fresh and frozen seafood section. There's usually a bakery selling different buns filled with different meat options or even fruit options. One of the biggest draw of farmers market for me, of how affordable fresh fruits and veggies can be had. Last weekend my wife and I picked two large grocery bags, chalk full of veggies (squash, egg plant, bell peppers), Thai basil, honeydew, & fresh rice noodles and spent 10 bucks exactly. Another great upside to this farmers market is that it takes places under the cover of the freeway, which means you'll stay dry in the winter and benefit from shade during the hotter months.

This was my first time at the farmers market under the overpass in downtown stockton. I was so excited for all the vendors!! Pluses- so many great veggie produce to choose from. Friendly vendors. And lots of ppl to talk to.Downside- was so bummed they didnt seam to have much nuts and fruit, not sure if it's because we got there late? Or they're just out of season? Overall- it seemed to be best pick of the day you go bright and early at 6 a.m. However if you're trying to get the best bang for your buck scouting out the stands before closing around 8:45 is the best way to get cheap produce fast however, it's not going to be the best pick out of it all, its just what's leftover. Plus side to that though is if you're a juicer like me doesn't really matter heehee!

1 minute walk from my work. Awesome! Love the quick walk to get some lunch and delicious fruit cup. Fridays get a little bit sweeter with yummy food. Not a lot of options but overall great little farmer's market.

The Farmer's Market has been back in business since the 1st Friday of May. There are a sufficient number of farm vendors with fresh fruits and vegetables. However, not all the retail vendors have returned. I glad the Downtown Alliance decided to keep this market in the Main Street/Hunter Square area. It's close to where I work and easy to do my weekly shopping. Found a new gem at the market, the A.J. Frerichs Enterprise. If you're looking for a good pizza try Frerichs. They make homemade pizzas in their very own portable oven. Personal size pizzas go for $6, $7, and $8. They have a few selection such as cheese, tomato and basil, ham and pineapple, and a couple of others. As the weeks go on I'm hoping the rest of the vendors will return. For this is probably going to be the last time we have the farmers market in this area. As of this writing the new courthouse is still supposed to be built starting some time in 2013. It will be interesting to see if the Downtown Alliance can come up with another area for this market that's easily accessible for the downtown workforce.
