Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Purchased 1# sliced brisket and 1# pulled pork with the intent to save it for the next day Super Bowl. Well, we got home and started nibbling and just couldn't stop. The meat was cooked perfectly; the young lady and gentlemen were super friendly and attentive...Our salutes!

Our order of three meats combo was fair. The sliced and chopped brisket was tasty but on the dry side. It definitely needed the bbq sauce. Unfortunately the turkey was very dry. The fries and green beans were tasty. The topping for the brisket chili cheese was sparse. Service friendly and welcoming. The restaurant open and clean.

Dickey's is an alternate BBQ spot if all others are closed or too busy. Let me start by saying it's more of a 3.5 stars but I rounded up. We hadn't had Dickeys in years but I had I remembered it not being that great. However, I had a sizable rebate for Dickeys on one of my apps and in looking over Yelp reviews, I thought I may have remembered our last experience incorrectly, so I decided to give them another go and placed an order online for pick up. Pickup was easy, my order was ready within 30 per the app. Staff were very nice and the inside was clean. I got their family bundle which consisted of 4 pulled pork sandwiches and 2 "shareable" sides for $33 + tax. I got regular bbq sauce, sweet bbq sauce and spicy bbq sauce for our sandwiches. All were tasty, but I do wish the spicy had more spice to it. The pulled pork was good, hardly any fatty pieces at all. The shareable sides were smaller than I expected. Each container would feed 2 people, so for us, you either got potato salad or baked beans but couldn't get both because there wasn't enough of each. The baked beans were very pepper heavy and not sweet at all, we were not a fan. The potato salad was mustard heavy, which we are a fan of. When I picked up my order, I also purchased a large soda, it was $5, that seemed a little steep to me. They also charge a renewal/recycle program fee, it's only a few cents ($0.39 in my case) but I have no idea what it's for. Overall, it wasn't bad at all. I'd definitely come back for this deal again. Just get a different side other than the peppery baked beans.

Rude employees. Noticed the price 28.00 for lunch and started to say I remember when, then imidiatly cut off with a louder tone and was given a lecture on. Minimum wage increases being the cause. (Old kool aide tactic), the price of bbq in California vs Texas and something about another employee. The food no longer matters when the prices go up. Let me add that tbe conversation didn't get heated I understand that the person was just defending their place of employment. Just got uncomfortable when I expressed the gouging.

Man I came here around 8pm with my little brother...i expected fresh Brisket and fresh smoked chicken man practically the only fresh item that was freshly made was the fries and even that was the taste of frost bite...keep this in mind I had this food before never did it taste like this! I'm very disappointed in the quality and quantity of the meat in this place. I really feel like this meat was microwaved or heated up from earlier today and this is disappointing and dry!!...no doubt nauseous what a disappointment.

Food: Brisket was great. We all enjoyed our food very much. Fried okra is amazing. Employees: Very sweet and hard working. Atmosphere: AWFUL! They don't have a functioning AC. We felt so bad for the employees.

IM SOOO UPSET! I ordered lunch for myself and my children and I'm DISGUSTED! the food is BURNT AND DRY & old looking like it's just been sitting! the bag was covered in oil & ribs are dry and old like they grabbed this bag from the garbage!! I'm sooo upset! I spent $50 and can't even eat it! Don't eat here !!!

Yesterday we had dinner at Dickey's. Ribs, shredded pork and chicken were yummy. Loaded mashed potatoes were delicious but the green beans were inedible with too much pepper. We ate inside, restaurant was clean and staff was attentive.

Love the consistency of Dickey's in Elk Grove! Food is always great quality, service is always friendly and welcoming and the environment is just right, small, clean and appropriate! Thanks for being there!
