I'm fairly new to Diabo Rod & Gun, but this is a very very welcoming group. Recently became a member. I took their Women's intro class! I can't say enough great things about it. We had aproximately 16 ladies in class, and after the morning instruction, had about 2+ hours of shooting, with various volunteer instructors practicing with various guns (aprox 20). This is really great with those of us in the market to purchase a pistol or rifle, and learn what is a good fit or not. The class was very informative, low cost considering the amount of information and safety training you get, feed us breakfast and lunch, and we didn't have to bring our own fire arms, unless we wanted to. As a bonus, we had a Ladies Shoot night for those of us who are already gun owners, and for 2+ hours after USI Range hours, we had full access to practice shooting our own fire arms, with guidance from the well trained volunteer instructors , which was extremely helpful for us newbies!!! I can't say enough great things about our instructors Chris and Blade, and all the Volunteer Expert Coaches! Seperate from the Women's Classes and Shooting event, the club is run by just a really nice family oriented group of people. They have monthly meetings, potlucks, and lots of activities to keep everyone interested. All very kind, and willing to help out a newbie in learning a new sports and self defense. Anyone thinking of owning a fire arm should come take their classes and seriously consider joining their Diablo Rod & Gun Club! You won't be disappointed!!!

I took their beginning women's course. Blade and Chris were so amazing. They made us feel comfortable around the guns and walked beside us the whole way. Then in the afternoon they had several coaches bring guns and we were able to try them all while being trained at the same time. Blade stayed after and helped me with my new gun my husband bought me. You could see he really cares. All of them did. I am looking forward to practicing again and Chris and Blade even offered to meet us to help us learn. I highly recommend this class. All women should go through this whether you want a gun or not. There were all ages from mother and daughter to your grandmother. Zero skills to people with skills. My confidence has gone way up since I understand more what it's about, the gun, and safety rules. Again, whether you believe in guns or deathly afraid, after this class it will give you the understanding of safety and handling. They have classes for younger kids too. Sign em up!

If this is too long to read for you, then here's the bottom line - I HIGHLY recommend that women who have even the slightest interest in learning about firearms take the Diablo Rod and Gun Club's Ladies' Introduction to Shooting class. You won't find another class that is as enjoyable, informative, and gives you the opportunity to try out so many different firearms, and at such a reasonable/low cost.I took their Ladies' Introduction to Shooting class this weekend (8am to ~3pm)and had an absolute blast. Blade and Chris P were very knowledgeable instructors and eager to share their experience and expertise. They were very clear and emphatic about the gun safety rules and ensured that was paramount in their instruction. There were multiple real unloaded firearms to actually handle and consider in terms of weight, force needed to rack the slide, etc. (noting specifically that the instructors ensured there was no ammunition in the classroom to allow a safe experience with these firearms.) They were very patient and focused on reviewing the relevant course material, while taking the time to answer questions and address any concerns/fears with which the participants might have come in. Rather than a pedantic review of rules, regulations, and data, it was interactive, informative, and interesting. In the class, we also had the opportunity to review the comparison of stopping power of various forms of ammunition (.22 to 9mm to .45 to shotgun slugs) via an exhibit that was passed around. This instruction and discussion took all of the morning, and it was exactly the right length for me to feel I'd gotten a lot of information that I could absorb easily, but was not overwhelmed with data.In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to shoot at least 20 different firearms on their range (semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, pistol caliber carbines). The coaches for each set of firearms were all very nice, and took the time to ensure I was comfortable with the firearm, loading the magazine into the firearm (or clip for the revolver), and shooting. Although this was my first experience with shooting, I felt comfortable and calm with the whole activity. I very much liked being able to compare the different physical characteristics of each of the different firearms while loading and shooting them, and take some very brief notes on what I noticed for my further reference. I also enjoyed the opportunity to shoot a shotgun and a pistol at some steel plate targets and even try trap shooting with the shotgun. In terms of logistics, the range was easy to find, and parking was very well managed (by Chris), and the breakfast, lunch, and snacks were included. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. I'll also add that it was great that the class was for women only, and there were a wide range of ages in the class.

I took the ladies beginning course and I highly recommend this class to anyone who isn't comfortable around guns. Chris and Blade made all of us feel welcome and answered all of our questions. Even the ones we thought were dumb, they did not even hesitate in answering. We learned the different caliber cartridges as well as the difference between a clip and a magazine. A tasty breakfast as well as lunch was provided and after lunch we were able to go out to the yard for hands on lessons with the different ROs and instructors with about 20 different guns and rifles. After the class was over we were given the opportunity to bring our guns in and Blade helped me with them and I am now more comfortable with loading and hitting the target where I am aiming. Again, I highly recommend you take this class if you are at all nervous about defending yourself with a handgun or rifle. Great location and even better ROs and Instructors.

We had the greatest experience taking the ALL WOMENS gun/shooting class and would highly recommend women take this class. In this day/age of random mass shootings, home invasions, car jacking, and just life threatening situations we need to be able to protect our lives. Unfortunately this is our reality of our world. The Gun Clubs coaches (especially Chris!) are extremely knowledgeable and teach safety when learning how to use a gun. I would take the class again to continue to strengthen my skills!

The ladies intro to shooting class was the best $85 I've spent in a long time. After quite some time of owning a firearm I was uncomfortable using, I said enough is enough. Besides seeming like a fun hobby, learning how to safely, comfortably, and effectively handle a firearm is a priceless and life saving skill for any woman. Chris and Blade were so knowledgeable and patient. I've taken two other very basic intro classes and left feeling intimidated and confused. After this class, I left feeling welcomed and empowered. We got to shoot over 20 different firearms of various calibers. Ranging from pistols to rifles to revolvers to shot gun. Price included a good breakfast, catered lunch, unlimited snacks a sodas and all the ammo. We easily shot over 100 rounds. But what was really incredible were the numerous instructors there ready and willing to help at every opportunity. This was exactly what I needed to gain confidence to return to the range to continue practicing on my own. They even let us stay after and helped those that wanted to get familiar with their own firearm. Ive already reached out to Blade and Chris to take up their offer of helping orient me to the public range. Amazing experience overall!

Took the women's gun class with my roommate and a neighbor and it did not disappoint! It's a long class, about 3-4 hours , but they have snacks and beverages plus provided a variety of sandwiches from Togo's for lunch so at least you're not starving the whole time then we got to hit the range a bit after lunch. The class itself was very informative. I knew nothing about guns or gun laws and had only shot a gun once before about 30 years prior so I went in pretty fresh. I learned a lot of general gun handling and safety information, general info about some of the laws in ca, got to shoot about 20 guns from an assembly line of rotating instructors and also got to do some 5 target speed shooting which was super duper fun. I've gone from not really liking guns but feeling like I need to know more about them to wanting to buy my own guns and perhaps even start practicing to eventually enter competitions in speed shooting and long tangle rifle shooting. I highly recommend this for any woman who wants to learn about firearms, basic laws and gun safety.

I love this place. What a beautiful location! I live 10-15 minutes away so my membership was both inexpensive and paid for itself many times over. When I swing down into the valley, I'm always happy with the beautiful views. I understand the club has been around for decades, but the facility was recently rebuilt all-new in the last few years. The range officers are all extremely friendly and helpful - and super safety-conscious, which I do appreciate a great deal. Some newer shooters might feel the ROs are strict, but when I see new visitors pointing their barrels any place besides down-range, I really appreciate their high level of conscientiousness. When you've taken your marksmanship to a higher level, look into the Diablo Action Pistol range just next door.

I think that the new range is the best expression of our freedom as Americans. Now that the range is open I will enjoy it as long as I can and then haunt it afterwards , rewarding efforts to maintain and prosper USI
