Yeah, they're not kidding about the whole stay on the trails thing.
Lots of shady oak trees.
Ahh. A sun-dappled woodland path. One of my favorite things!
"Wetlands improve water quality"...when they exist, that is. So dry!
Lots of these warning signs. Stay on the trail!
Trailhead to the short but pleasant Bridle Trail.
The "wetlands." :/

Came here for a morning walk with my dogs. Beautiful walk on a winter morning! Parking was a little confusing for me as a first time visitor but I figured it out. All the rain and fog has the made this a pretty green walk. The trail isn't too long, would make for a good run.

I knew several years ago there were homeless and drugs but I had a neighbor tell me that it had really changed and was a great place to walk your dog I finally decided to take my dog today and her and I both loved it. For a little while you think you could be in the country but then walk back into reality when you head home. I would recommend it but then I don't want to many people showing up

Hubby found this fairly desolate looking park for us to walk in and it was perfect. Not many people, ample parking, playground area with swings and slides for the kiddos (I was a kid today...my hubby pushed me on the swing after our walk lol). Quite a few paths that connect to one another so we chose two and took about an hour to complete the walk. We saw a couple small families with picnic lunches and kids playing in the playground area (it was clear we were the "newbies" at the party lol looking at the preparedness of the other families). As we wrapped up our time we saw people riding bikes, walking dogs and a couple walkers. "Undercover" park, right on Auburn boulevard but not as populated with people.

I haven't been to the playground side of this park but I have utilized the picnic area, creek & trail. This is a nice little park, tucked right off of Auburn Blvd & it stretches a pretty long distance. I haven't seen too many, if any, homeless people frequenting this park - so thats a plus (sad to say).

After reading a horror story of an article in the Sacramento Bee (published December 2016) about how this park had lots of problems with transient drug use, illegal camping and garbage dumps, I was pleasantly surprised when I visited Del Paso Park two days in a row (June 24th & 25th 2017) and didn't see anything objectionable whatsoever. I guess in the last six months the policing and cleanup efforts have been stepped up considerably. While this park is fairly large at 145 square acres, it doesn't seem quite so big, since the trails are relatively short and not very complex. Most of the off-trail areas are prohibited, and numerous warning signs remind you of that fact. For a quick day hike, the trails are great! But since the trails are short, if you're riding a bicycle like me, the ride is a quick one. It's still nice though. At the west side of the park is a kid's playground and baseball diamond, and at the east side is a off-leash dog run, and a large grassy area with picnic tables and barbeque grills that would be great for parties. Overall, it's a pleasant little nature reserve to hike through. Since the park seems to be well cleaned up now, I can even recommend bringing the kids out for a hike here.

At first glance, this doesn't seem to be like much of a park. Just a playground off the side of a residential road. But explore further and you'll find a sprawling 145 acres of recreational fun and a great spot for the kiddos to play while the parents take a breather. The reason I was originally deceived about the size and scope of this place is because it is set back from the freeway and isn't all just green grass in the traditional park sense. The complex includes four lighted ball fields, a softball complex, equestrian trails, jogging trails and a great playground for younger kids. It's not the most beautiful or well-managed grounds, but it's a welcome respite for all those families in the neighboring area and it's right next door to the science museum.
