I did my son's birthday party here 7/1/23The life guards were so amazing and helped with anything I needed!! I rented here, for $150 per hour, extra $50 if you want the pool to be private, which i would do again! Everything was clean, lots of shaded area, bleachers are great! Definitely would recommend this pool for a rental area. Plenty of parking if the front lot is full. You would just have to pull out and go into the bigger parking lot.

Came to Cottage Pool after finding out about a Dive In Movie event from Sacramento365. Thought it sounded pretty fun! For $2.50, you can swim and watch a free movie afterwards. Usual admission into the pool is $2.50, so the movie is a nice little touch for families. (Not sure how often they have this event though.) I came with my sister (both in our 20s) and were surrounded by children with their parents/grandparents. No surprise! The pool itself is super spacious and filled to the brim with water. There's a slide and a small diving board, plus lifeguards stationed on all sides keeping watch. Feels very safe!As for the event itself, it was a pretty good turnout. My sister and I got there a little after 7PM and were able to snag a spot in the small parking lot. People brought in their own lawn chairs and had their spots staked out since 7PM. Pros brought blankets, pillows, snacks, and even pizza! They have snacks for sale near the entrance, but not sure how prices were like. Around 8:45PM, they had everyone come out of the pool. They didn't start the movie until a little after 9:00PM but played some Tom and Jerry cartoons for those who were waiting. We watched Despicable Me 2 tonight and it was enjoyable. There were a couple kids with side conversations, but the sound was loud enough to still be able to hear. The inflatable screen was a decent size, so the view we got was pretty good.I would recommend going to the Dive In Move event, especially for families! Next time, I would bring a jacket so I wouldn't be so cold by the end of the night.

I really feel safe and comfortable at this community pool. That's saying a hell of a lot actually....After months and months of reclusiveness it would take the need of our daughter who didn't know how to swim to force me out of the house and into a public place for an extended period of time to do the trick.Actually if this child was biologically sprung from my loins she would have been swimming from birth. Yet I digress......There's noting worse and more dangerous then a child that cannot safely and confidently swim and hold their own in a body of water. Having said this I'm relieved to say that just after 4 trips in one week together the kid is now swimming under water, floating on her back and can swim on her back as well as dog paddle and freestyle swim the width of this spaciously clean well maintained pool.Cottage Pool is manned by at least 4-5 lifeguards each time they are opened for business. And the lifeguards rotate the parameter of the pool in an organized clockwork fashion every so many minutes and really monitor the pool as well as water slide area with a watchful eye...Every 45 minutes they blow their whistles and boot very one but anyone 18 and older outta the pool for a full 15 minutes of "adult only swim time".I like this as it gives me and our girl a chance to take a break, eat and rehydrate before jumping back in.Yes there is a water slide however in order for anyone under the age of 18 to use it they have to pass a Quick yet efficient swim test in which the person must be able to successfully swim the width of the pool without touching the bottom. If they successfully do so they are immediately issued a personalized "pass" card authorizing them to hit the slide where a lifeguard is stationed at the top of its ladder monitoring access to it.The current is swift at the bottom of this slide which I appreciate as it teaches people and kids how to swim in moving water too. There's a diving board as well which is roped off in a secured area at the farthest end of the "L" shaped pool. Here's some more helpful data:Pool availability schedule changes throughout the year:From June 8, 2015 to August 14, 2015 it's open for public swimming from 1pm-4pm MONDAY-FRIDAY 2:30-5:30PM SATURDAY & SUNDAY.From August 15, 2015 - September 7, 2015 it's open WEEKENDS Only from 2:30-5:30 PM.* Sept. 8, 2015 Labor Day; they will be open from 1-4 PM.Fees: $2.50 per person BUT they do sell a "20 Visit Punch Pass" for $40 and $36 if you're a resident of the area. However the only way to find out if you're a resident is to either call the District office at: 916-927-3802 or visit them in person @ 2201 Cottage Way, Sac.You can buy a punch pass at the gate of the Cottage Pool but it's cash only; ATM/Credit Card purchases are accepted at the district office listed above.Another cool thing to note is that the punch card pass can be used for multiple people so you don't have to buy one for each family member. They are good for the "current season only"You may be wondering: is this woman an employee there???? Ummm no no I'm not but I did intentionally observe and learn as much as I could and can about this business as I want to get the most bang for my buck and know what's available and its workings.Located right down the street from the Walmart off of the corners of Watt Avenue & Cottage Way access to it is a dream and super easy with free parking too and access to the park attached to this community pool. Bathrooms have been super clean and well stocked too unlike so many public pools can be where it looks like bombs went off in there including the floating turds left by its previous user.Or the soupy water soaked TP covering the bathroom floors; Yuck! Still have PTSD flashbacks of these scenes from my childhood at the local plunge.....So far none of this and it's been a solid week of daily visits here.Plus +1!Pack your sunscreen, snacks, towels and plenty of water as they allow you to bring stuff in just no booze; Signs are everywhere. And they super chlorinate and condition the pool water so goggles are a great idea if you like to swim under water as I didn't have them the first day and my eyes were killing me the rest of the day and night.I'd give 5 stars as I really do LoVe this place BUT I dislike how during the hottest months of the summer they cut the schedule to weekends only.

I really enjoy this pool. I have been here for several field trips over the years with my kids classes. We were on a field trip June with my daughters (9yrs old) class and they always do a "swim test" to make sure your child is capable of swimming in the deep end. My daughter has swam at this pool 3 times now and she has always passed and had no issues but this time one of the lifeguards failed her. Confused I walked over and asked if it was possible for her to take it again as she swims at a local swim school every summer for the past four years, swims with our family at the river, swims at her grandparents pool when we visit, and as I have already mentioned has already swam at this pool a few times ... in the deep end. It was all good I just thought it was some sort of mistake and I could be wrong but maybe the lifeguard didn't appreciate being questioned?!? So the lifeguard agrees and also let a few others go as well. After she swam I stood there waiting for the "go ahead" or any response for that matter but she (the lifeguard) just walked away. No response, and didn't even speak to my child to let her know why she didn't pass her again. I walked up to where she was standing and asked if she passed and instead of being straight up with me she just beat around the bush. I tried to inform her that I was her mother and would never put my child in a situation where I thought she wasn't capable but she just kept talking in circles till I finally just asked her to just say "no" if the answer is no. It's possible she was uncomfortable talking with parents, but I'm just guessing here because her communication was not good at all with kids or adults. I was upset but I never raised my voice, cursed, or any of that nonsense. So she finally said it was a no. What a bummer. My daughter's teacher was right there the whole time and was surprised as well. Her teacher also witnessed many children who took the test that did not swim as well as my daughter did. I enjoy Cottage Pool but this day was a serious bummer for her end of school field trip.

if you have a child or disabled adult you might want to not take them to this pool the way they handled my daughter who is 26 with autism and can't talk well it's hard to understand her was horrible and then when I said something to them about it they argued with me and then let me and my kids swim and just when i thought it was fine cause I walked away and said I'm not going to argue with a young adult who is not going to understand a person who is disabled cause she made that clear they called the cops on me with my 2 disabled children and made a false report and said I threatened her lol if I did that why let me swim why not ask me to leave ? cause I did not threaten anyone it was a bold face lie and so disgusting that someone would do that to a mother with 2 disabled children my kids were traumatized and so was I the cop let me go and we went home as we were leaving to get into the car I had some of the life guards making fun of me and my children I'm almost 50 it was just me and my kids and I had 20 year olds calling my kids regarded and making fun of them in the parking lot I got in my car and left it was so disgusting and horrible I'm going to contact a lawyer about all this as well

If you don't have ANY access to a pool and you really need a dip in some watah, I recommend this place. We live nearby and don't have any pool access so this is a fun little retreat. There's a little water slide, diving boards, and a deep end. That being said - it's a public pool. There's a few rules to follow, chlorine, it's next to a hospital, and not a lot of shade or grass.
