I used to drop my ex off in this area.Saying that I was here a lot and never felt really unsafe even when I was supposed to.Pretty safe area considering where it's at depending on what street you go down just be careful.BART is off railroad ave. This place is fairly packed 24 seven so if you want somewhere that has traffic most of the time this is the place for you! There's a lot of people over here that will try and race you which is not an issue for me but you can tell most of them are intoxicated due to swerving so just be careful!I'd honestly just stick to the stores and stay out of here if you don't live in the surrounding areas just because of how it is.Thanks for reading hope this helps will add more details and pictures as I go back to the area!

Originally from Walnut Creek, but moved to Pittsburg still as a kid. When I was younger Pittsburg was pretty nice and not over crowded. In the 80's there was the Vogue theater that was in down town Pittsburg the very last movie that played at the vogue was Who framed Roger rabbit and Honey I shrunk the kids. Then in the mid 90's it turn into a church. If you were from Pittsburg every youngster under 20 would go to Marina Skate. I really loved the over night skate.. Hehe, especially when someone fell asleep and we would put shaving cream or draw on random people's faces. Unfortunately that happened to me twice.Every year during the first week of September would be the the Popular seafood festival although I stopped going years ago because it used to be free to get in now I think is like $15 I would mind paying it if Pittsburg didn't make the festival smaller :( When I lived in Pittsburg there were several elementary school's however I went to Private school until I was in the 4th grade so 5th I went to Highlands elementary which was okay I guess.Junior high you had the option of Central Jr High or Hillview Jr. high. I say this because if you could handle Central the do it and you didn't have the tough skin for it and you wanted to go to school drama free then Hillview was the school for you. I chose Central I don't know why I suppose it's because friends were like if I go to Hillview I was a hater. I got through Central with no problem graduated 8th grade in '96I went to Pittsburg High from 96-00 that school was something else and I don't mean in a good way either. For me you had to stay lit to deal with the non-sense there I actually left Pitt for like 4 months during my Junior year before someone hated on me for using a friends address to get into a high school in another city. :/ Finished High school at Pitt and ran across that graduation stage with joy knowing I would never had to go there again :) :) :)In 2007 I decided to move out of Pittsburg because it got worse and people were getting killed on dumb stuff landlords were renting there properties to people who didn't live in the homes and were just using the homes as pot grows and meth labs literally. One place actually caught on fire. It's a horrible feeling when your told you can't go home. That's was the last straw. My daughter, wife and I moved out within 2 weeks a few years later my dad sold his house and moved out of Pittsburg. The only reason I still go to Pittsburg is because my mom and sister still lives there and I can't pass up Parkside Market and those delicious sausages. I don't know if this is a review or a rant but it's what my experience's living in Pittsburg.P.S City of Pittsburg why did you get rid of the Blues festival and only keep Hot August Nights and Seafood festival?!!!

I'm curious as to why it's 25.00 to get a ticket signed off...I went to the Police Department and the Courthouse today and at each establishment there was over five cops standing there doing ABSOLUTELY nothing. Laughing, smiling and socializing with each other. It's good to know my tax dollars are doing something, NOT. It's pretty sickening and I find it pathetic that these cops are just as hungry for money as they are for power. $25.00 for a lousy signature, don't waste your time in these pigs. If you drive 20 minutes to Martinez, CHP will do it for free.

I love Pittsburg. Its a great place to live. I love the community. There are some bad parts, but overall its a great place. Much to do and much to see. I especially love the parks. I am going to include a picture of city park. Amazing school district and city pride.

I just called my city department police for the first time right now(it is 2:42AM!) for complaints of disruptive behavior in my neighborhood and they got here in about 5 minutes or less! Amazing. They've been out here for more than 30 minutes though, so I hope everything is alright. Thank you heroes! I can now sleep with relief knowing it's safe to go back to sleep.

The website for paying utilities really does suck! The due date online never matches what the statement by mail shows, so weird. Agree with others Yelpers, Water Department needs help! When speaking with different employees about the same issue, you'll get major discrepancies, so I never know who's right. Terrible use of our tax dollars if training is that bad. The city itself is just okay. Growing up in quiet towns, then in Pleasant Hill for 4 years, this area is def a bit of culture shock. My first month here, I watched a lady get jumped at Target while her young daughter cried nearby!! Wth is wrong with some people??

Got a ticket for no license plate in the front (had license plate on the dashboard) and I needed a signature from a police officer to sign it off so I can reduce the fine to $10. I went into the police department hoping to find an officer to just check out my car and sign which takes less than a minute. When I asked for an officer, I was told that I needed to pay $50 to have an officer come out and sign my paper. Wow. Where is my tax dollar going to then?

Average citizen of Pittsburg here to talk about my experience with one of you're officers today (mon apr 30th 2018) recently my daughter has been having a rough spot in school, she has told me on multiple occasions that she wants to be an officer. So i thought she may benefit from speaking with one about the trouble shes having. As i was driving down railroad ave i spotted one of the officers on duty and hoped he would have to time to speak with us, thankfully he made the time he was a motorcycle officer, a sergeant, he took the time to listen to my daughter and tell her about his experiences and it really seemed to resonate with her. I just wanted to take the time to thank this officer and this department for being so kind professional. Its experiences like these that make me proud to be a resident of Pittsburg. We appreciate you officers and all you do for the community. Be safe and thank you-josh

This police department is great. On July 1 we had not heard anything from my mother in law because the line was down at her nursing home. (We don't live in the area.) A police officer went to check on her and called us back right away to report how she was doing. Very kind on the phone and concerned from the dispatch center as well as the officer. They were also very prompt with their response.

Why can't Pittsburg have nice grocery stores. The citizens of this town deserve nice , clean , and great stores to shop at, it has been like this for years, and they do nothing about this problem! It sucks that I have to go to another town to do my shopping. So the leaders of this town please do something about it to make it a better place to live or do you care?
