Chubby's Diner

I thought I already left a review the last time I was here some time ago. I had found this diner while yelping around the area. The photos alone had me interested in coming by.I didn't have the Ube latte in mind at the time we visited but it was a special that was posted on their menu and their larger menu by the entrance which made me like to try it.I definitely would suggest this place as a day date place and small celebrations. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Didn't see any issues with food or anything but positive vibes They do tend to have different items the times I've came by making me want to revisit and try the next new item The Mexican Hot Chocolate was delicious and I loved how it was presented, made it taste more delicious than expected I for sure will be returning and hopefully that new option is still available. I just didn't have the sweet tooth for more sweets than the hot chocolate at the time and opt for a meat selection and soup PS I'm coming back to try the Ube French toast

This is the spot for some good breakfast The service is in point- the ambiance is superb... look on the floor to see the stars for walk of fame The eggs Benedict's are always runny, the hue is rancheros are so good, crunchy , chorizo is spicy ... not butt burning spicy but good spicy that makes you suck air to make sure you stay alive Alfonso has a great crew ... we had the pleasure of being attended by Natalie and Suzie - I'm sure others areGood -Let's not forget the unsung heroes .... The kitchen staff who makes magic and sorcery to bring out some good stuff .... Like Angelina in jersey shore says " uh hello!!!" Go there and eat some good breakfast

Cheap food. The prices didn't match how cheap the food was. Kinda pricey. Had a nice old school vibe and the milkshakes are old malt style. The service was great but I probably wouldn't go out of my way again.

Came here again because we were hungry and it has good portion of meal. Service is fast and friendly. Interior is like 70's era. A typical diner. I would definitely come back again. You should try it.

I used to LOVE Chubby's back when it was at the old location. Even at the new place things were great for a while. However, like everything, the prices are getting out of hand just the quality isn't there anymore. I recently ordered takeout and clarified twice to be sure the order was taken correctly, especially since we came from out of town. However, when we got home and opened our boxes to find everything was mixed up, the cheeseburger I requested have extra sauce was literally buns and meat only, along with various other mix ups. Hopefully it was an off day and they're much more attentive and consistent now, but that will be for someone else to judge, as for my family Chubby's will just be a good memory of a place we used to love.

The food was what you'd expect from an old school diner.The chicken fried steak was good. The only suggestion is adding seasoning to the country gravy and the hasbrowns. The Huevos Ford Rancheros was super flavorful with the chorizo and fixings. I highly recommend this. The cinnamon roll is homemade and yummy. The service was very nice and straightforward. When I asked for suggestions, the waitress gave several suggestions.The vibe in the diner was spunky. There was a lot of personality in this place. The menu was big and definitely will be returning to try more!

I looked up Chubby's prior to dining there. The reviews seemed pretty solid. We were just passing through Manteca. The signage is at the host stand (a VW) is informative. Photo attached. We got there at about 12:20pm & were seated at 12:25pm, they close at 1pm. The servers were nice. The decor is fun and retro. Music was fun. My husband, a music guy, laughed bc there was some Beatles stuff, in a '50s diner. Bathrooms were clean.The server took a clorox wipe and wipped down our table prior to us being seated. We were at a booth. It was very spacious for our fam of 4. The metal wall dividor was very dirty. Food smeared and sticky. It was not clean, to but it mildly, and it didn't look "fresh". I ordered the french dip w loaded fries. The au jus was so salty it wasn't even good to dip my sandwich in. And I'm a salter. I love fresh salt on top of my meal. The meat was extremly chewy and fatty. It was over cooked for sure. The loaded fries weren't bad, came w real cheese, and were the main thing I ate, which I salted. haha. I ordered an arnold palmer, it came in a mason jar. It tasted, dusty, for lack of a better word. I didn't mention it bc at this point I thought it was me. I was dealing with a bit of a cold, maybe my taste was off. The server offered me a fresh one to go. Thsi one in the togo cup didn't taste "dusty"... possibly it was the glass, can't be sure. My husband got a breakfast dish. He said it was ok. The hashbrowns tasted like they were made in old oil. My duaghter got a burger that she said was very good. My little one got a pancake and it was the best thing on the table in my opinon. They both wanted milkshakes. We got them kids ones, they were $5 each and very small. Probably would've been better to get a regular and spilt it. We love going to smaller mom & pop places when possible. This one, for us, is a one & done location. We aren't in Manteca often. We'll try a differenct spot next time.

Very interesting a dirty grill can make your food taste better than a dirty grill that make the food have an odd aftertaste. Not a great meal. Friendly people

Popped in for a quick birthday brunch and they DID NOT disappoint. Everything was delicious and beautiful and the vibes couldn't be beat! Service was excellent I definitely plan to return. Thank you Chubby's Diner!

Clam chowder was awful...the base tasted like pure grease with curdled flour. I had to send back. I do not recommend.
