My two sons and wife do BJJ for over a year now and all of them enjoy it.I like knowing my wife and kids have a sense of self defense and how to remain calm under pressure. The coaches and student coaches are very patient and fair. I highly recommend this establishment if you want to try a BJJ class

Been meaning to review this place for awhile, especially since this is the spot where my kiddo's jiu jitsu journey began. My family had experienced a couple different gyms in the Bay and when looking into an extracurricular for our kid in the Valley, we knew there were a few key things that were important to us. First, a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Second, coaches who care for the safety of the students as much as their progress. Third, a place that treated each student equally, challenging them to be better each class. I'm happy to say that Charles Gracie Academy in Mountain House met all these expectations and more. From the first day we signed up our kid, we got a "welcome to the family" from the coaches. It felt warm and inviting, especially for a nervous kid joining the 4-6 age group. This age group is not easy to manage, but somehow at each class the coaches succeed in coaching them to listen and follow through as best they can. Watching from the sidelines, I can see how much patience, firmness, and diligence it takes to wrangle the low attention span this group has collectively. While they are teaching the fundamentals of the sport, the coaches make it fun, too. If they're not having fun, what's the point, right? In a year, I watched my kid grow and thrive thanks in part to the influence of discipline and focus from training at this jiu jitsu academy. He's developing into a kid who will have self-control, self-confidence, awareness and most of all can kick ass if an occasion calls for it. Don't hesitate on this place. Go check it out. Who knows, maybe you'll be the next to join this growing family.

I came to this academy seeking to build confidence in my daughter when it comes to self-defense. She was very hesitant on wanting to try it out before we went to our first trial. The first day--coach Paul and coach Sara were so welcoming to her! They joked around with her easing her nervousness, made sure she was partnered up with someone her level or ensured that someone that had advanced skills was gentle with her and had a watchful eye on her. By the end of class, she was so excited that she said she wanted to join. It's been about 2 months now since we've joined and she's gaining so much confidence in herself and techniques. She gets excited about class and likes working on the skills that she's learned. The coaches are great as there are usually 3-4 of them walking around to make sure the kids are practicing their skills. They make the classes fun by playing off of the kid's energies and joking around with them. They are stern and disciplinary when control of the class is needed. My daughter loves to joke around with her coaches. They are well-trained in BJJ and is always pointing out techniques during sparring. They are personable and always available for any questions I have in regards to how to do a certain technique.I really like that coach Paul allows the parents to come to spectate the kids on a personal level i.e. near the mats and not having to be far away. This allows me to see what my child has been learning, how the coaches are interacting with the kids and for me to give encouragement to my daughter. The mats are really clean and the coaches make a huge emphasis on keeping unwiped feet off the mats.I highly recommend the mountain house Charles Gracie's BJJ Academy and I look forward to seeing the new development in skills that she will learn here.

I joined Charles Gracie Mountain House in August of 2022. My original intent was to get myself in shape. When I realized they had several kids classes throughout the week as well I was very excited. I immediately signed my 4 year old son up for a trial. The coaches are next level with their attention to detail in instruction as well as their patience with the little ones. We signed my son up full time at the next class. My son is now 5 and has a lot more confidence in himself. He communicates much more efficiently and is methodical in his decision making as well. I noticed a huge stride in his patience with himself. He understands that everything worth doing takes time and work. I think that is a huge character trait to have at such a young age.As for myself, I'm 35 years old and I lost 30+ pounds within the first 6 weeks and have kept it off. I'm in the best shape of my life mentally and physically. Every class is a new challenge but every class you get a little bit better. My son and I have really bonded in the last year during our Jiu Jitsu journey and we truly are thankful to be a part of this special core of individuals that we refer to as our Charles Gracie Mountain House family.

I enrolled my two sons (4,5 yo) after their free trial classes. They enjoyed it so much. After school they still have so much energy so this place was an awesome space for them to let all that out. The instructors are patient and helpful. Even some of the long time students was helping my son reminding him what to do during partner drills. I would highly recommend!

This is by far one of the best and most family friendly jiujitsu academy. The coaches provide quality training. My son had improved so much in just a span of 3-4 months just by doing once a week in the beginning. Coaches are all very nice and know all the children by name.

This location is clean and a family friendly environment. My daughter showed interest in BJJ when she turned 4 years old. I signed her up and she has been a member for 2 years, she's 6 years old now. My son is also new to BJJ and loves it, he's 4. The instructors are incredible and know how to teach the kiddos and make it fun.
