The Cellar Door located in downtown Pleasanton has joined the many bars that go all out with holiday themed cocktails and decor for the season. "The Christmas Story" themed bar was decked out with holiday cocktails named after the movie, an array of movie and Christmas decor, movie memorabilia displayed, and a Christmas Story playing on one of the tv screens. We arrived shortly after opening and it wasn't crowded, as the evening progressed more patrons arrived. We had to leave early due to a party starting at 6. We had enough time to enjoy our drinks and food. I would have liked to have stayed longer to enjoy the ambiance. Our server was kind and friendly, the drinks were delicious as well as the food.We had the deviled eggs, artichoke dip with cheesy crackers, chicken street tacos, and cheesecake. Everything was tasty and arrived hot and in a timely manner.

So good, I came twice in the same week!Came with the girls and then brought the husband for some pre-thanksgiving goodies. Shout out to Scott, the friendliest of bar tenders, who took care of me both visits.Epic decorations! They went all out for their holiday theme, based on "A Christmas Story." Vibe is cottage-core meets kitsch (in the best way). We ordered off their holiday menu and had a "It must be Italian" (riff off an aperol spritz) and Bo Ling Toddy (riff off a hot toddy). Both were cute and Stroooooong! The toddy came in a gingerbread man mug, and the spritz was served in a large wine glass. Two cocktails for around $30, and totally worth it.Cheers to a fun, watering hole downtown!

Came here this past Tuesday with a party of 3, we were trying to distract ourselves from election night haha. Our order: We each got 2 drinks, I had a kokomo cab and another red wine that I can't recall anymore, but both were delicious. The three of us also split a mushroom pesto flatbread, as well as the cheese and artichoke dip with bread, and followed up with one more order of deviled eggs after since we got snacky after drinking. Total was about $55 per person ish before tax and tips.Pros:- It's mostly a wine bar vibes, but the food was surprisingly good! Definitely not portions that would fill you up for dinner, but perfect for if you had a late lunch and you're here for dinner-time drinks. - Not super crowded on a Tuesday, which we like. There's a variety of seating options, including at the bar, a larger table that can fit up to maybe 6 people, and seating for pairs around the perimeter. It's not a super large wine bar which I appreciated, perfect for weeknight vibes.- Wide selection of wines! Easy QR code menu that we could order from with descriptions of all the food.- Really efficient and polite service, we didn't have to wait long for our food and drinks. We also gabbed for like 2-3 hours and didn't feel pressured to leave since it wasn't super crowded.- Pretty clean bathroom- Very cozy vibes, dark lighting, very romantic, perfect for a date or a fun girls night. A great addition to the downtown Pleasanton area.Cons:- Parking can be tricky if it's a really crowded night, but we got really lucky and got princess parking right across the street. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back here in the future!

I went to Cellar Door for drinks and apps with a friend. The service was good, and the decor and ambience was awesome! They have everything decorated in an "A Christmas Story" theme for winter and it was so cute! We ordered a few cocktails and the hot spinach and artichoke dip. The dip tasked alright, but was very salty. The drinks were delicious! I highly recommend the "Pear Pressure" and the seasonal "Drink your Ovaltine Please." We will definitely be back!

My friend and I tried. Ella's Door for the first time this evening and we can't wait to go back! The seating was so warm and welcoming, I felt like I was at someone's home. It had a rustic romantic feeling to it. I asked the bartender for a mocktail, he make me a spiced pear drink that was so refreshing. We ordered the Hummus, artichoke dip, and 2 different flat breads. Everything was fresh and tasty! Our server was sweet and attentive.

It was a great experience coming there to celebrate our dog's birthday. My family and I had a lot of fun drinking and enjoying the band. First off, the food was beyond amazing. Every single dish was perfect, especially the cheese fondue. That's my favorite! And it also helps that all the servers there were extremely polite and attentive to all our needs. None of them were rude or had a I don't care vibe. Each of them were very friendly and nice to my dog too. The food came fast too, which helps. Each of us also enjoyed the band, which we were lucky enough to arrive at the timing. So, all in all, great food, friendly service, and fun atmosphere. If you want to come for a fun and relaxing evening/night, definitely come here! I'd recommend this restaurant/bar!

It takes A LOT for me to write a negative review on Yelp, and it rarely happens. That said...This was my first visit here, and I was excited to try somewhere new. I came for dinner tonight at about 6:30pm. I had just arrived as my sister's drink was being brought to the table. My sister order a drink before I had arrived, and when the drink came, it was the wrong drink. She ordered the special "holiday" version of the drink. No apology from the older gentleman/bartender. Nothing. Just, walked away, very harshly threw the wrong drink away in the sink behind us (made a huge crashing sound). What really decided this Yelp review was... when he brought the correct drink, my sister thought she heard him say: "I really don't have time for the two of you." To be fair, I didn't hear it... but if he did say this... What?? Seriously??? He said this because he brought one wrong drink to the table. What did we do to deserve that rude attitude? He didn't even talk to me once since I got there. What exactly was his problem? When he came back, he asked if we want anything else... No eye contact. Just impatiently asking (twice), while rolling his eyes at us. Ummm... I had just arrived... I didn't order anything yet and was looking at the menu. I said I wanted to get food and he immediately said that he was the only one working and the kitchen was closed (with some attitude). Of course, I quickly decided to not order anything. At that point, I just wanted to leave. I get that it was a busy night with the holidays approaching. I get his frustration if they were low on staff (I saw another waiter come about 15 minutes later, as my sister was finishing her drink... maybe he was on break? -- at least he was friendly!). But nothing excuses this man's behavior to us... especially IF he did say what my sister heard him say. I asked if she was sure she heard that... I honestly couldn't believe it, as I have NEVER heard someone say something SO rude to a customer before... But my sister said she was pretty certain that's what he said. I am relatively new to Pleasanton. We were just trying to enjoy our Sunday evening. It's a very fun, beautifully decorated bar... I'm not sure if I'll be back, but I hope this older man/bartender is not there if I return. Not okay. I'm hoping it was just a really off night for this guy. He was clearly mad about working alone, but why did he have to take it out on us?Also, if the kitchen/food menu is closed... Just put a sign on the front door so people know. Easy.
