This place is cute and charming. The service is excellent, very personalized. Erin took great care of us and cooked breakfast for us and the other guests every morning. You will also have access to the kitchen, although there are no cooking facilities in the kitchen.I can recommend this place, but not with the same enthusiasm as the other Yelpers. There are a few drawbacks. First, the rooms are pretty tiny. There is a bed, of course, a desk, and what seems like two square feet left over for you to maneuver the room. The same goes for the bathroom. The breakfast, although freshly prepared, featured eggs from powder. Also, Camino is pretty hot in the summer and there's no AC in the rooms, although there is a fan.Erin does have a great knowledge of the area, however, and provides a lot of hospitality. She was also good at calling me to communicate price differences before I arrived and just generally easy to work with. This place is also a great place to stay in the fall for apple season in Camino/Placerville (be sure to hit up Denver Dan's for your own apple-picking and then finish it off at Boa Vista Orchards for lots of treats and baked goods). Also cheaper than staying at Tahoe, even with the commute there.

My boyfriend and I were driving up to Tahoe late on a Friday night from San Francisco and got stopped at the check point where we were told we needed to have chains or All Wheel Drive. We had neither and were tired, it was snowing pretty heavily and we were ready for dinner and somewhere to stay the night. I found Camino Hotel Bed and Breakfast on Yelp. I called Clair to see availability and she couldn't have been more sweet or helpful. We drove to the hotel and she greeted us and told us she had a great, queen room all ready for us. She quoted me $93 for the room on the phone and I couldn't believe it when she printed out the bill that it included tax and all! Being from San Francisco, I thought this was an absolute steal and it included breakfast - even better! We told Clair we were hungry for dinner and she offered to call the Pub next door to let them know that we were coming while we put our bags in our room - as they were going to be stopping cooking for the night soon. So nice!We had a great stay at the hotel after our dinner and woke up early the next morning to an awesome breakfast of ham, eggs and a potato casserole (so good!), fresh fruit and coffee. Our room was very clean, perfect size for the two of us (included a shower and our own private bath) and the bed was pretty comfy. Clair than took us on a brief tour of the rest of the B&B....it was so quaint and adorable. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay on your way to Tahoe or if you are staying in the area.

This place is such a gem! It's rustic and country, but very well maintained! We booked the whole place for our guests to stay in after our wedding (we stayed there too), and we were so pleased with the whole experience! The owners and staff were so accommodating and sweet, the beds were very comfy and clean, and the breakfast in the morning was delish! And the prices are very reasonable! We had such a wonderful experience, we will definitely be back!

A comfortable, friendly, unique option for lodging at a reasonable price. Way better than a nondescript motel.Great atmosphere and decor -- decorated in a historic style with hardwood floors throughout and a fireplace in the dining room.Nice amenities -- including a sun room with games and books as well as a kitchen available for use anytime.Range of rooms -- with and without bathrooms. We stayed in a room without a bathroom...great for the budget. Of course, sharing a bathroom always causes trepidation, but the shared bathrooms at Camino Hotel were immaculately clean. A far cry from grungy European hostels.Friendly service -- very helpful, welcoming, personal attention.Delicious breakfast!Looking forward to returning.

We couldn't make it home due to snow. We stayed at this historical wonderful place built in the 1800's. Christy, the Inn Keeper, could not have been more wonderful and kind. She bent over backwards to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The bed was so comfortable and Christy made us a very nice breakfast. She answered all our questions about this historical hotel. It is really a B&B which was very charming. Thank you, Christy.

This place is a perfect mix of bed and breakfast and a hotel. Priced very well, It has wonderful decor of the placer hills and is still homey and quaint. The inn keeper, Claire is so sweet, caring, and hospitable. The bed in breakfast hotel/ inn is incredibly clean. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. We had coffee, OJ, or tea with fresh fruit, blueberry muffins, ham, and quiche. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and dressed with beautiful quilts that really add to the home feeling. I think this would be a wonderful place for a family reunion, a big friend get together or a bachelorette party stop... Or better yet a romantic get away. You can have all the fun wine tasting and stop at the pub across the street and never have to drink and drive. There are lots of wonderful things to do in Camino and this hotel is in the heart of it all. Stop in and stay a few days. You won't regret it. (I have never taken the time to post, this place must be special to get the first yelp full review)

I stopped here overnight with a girlfriend on a Sunday night and we were the only guests that night. We had the run of the inn and it is a fascinating place. The owner decorates with historic artifacts and collectibles and is full of stories about the town lore. We had a delightful dinner across the street and went wine tastng the next morning. The beds were cozy and my friend had a great time using the clawfoot bathtub in her room. We were both dirty upon arrival as we had spent 4 or 5 hours hiking to Sylvia Lake just prior. I HIGHLY recommend the trail The rushing water and creekside boulders and granite slabs are perfect for wading or a dip.

The Camino Hotel is dirty. I guarantee the bathroom was not cleaned between guest (hence the toilet bowl full of #2) - no joke. She cleaned it after I complained yet the shower had blue body wash on the walls and it wasn't from us. We also noted the hardwood floors were not swept - dust bunnies and used dental floss. Very disappointing - we will NEVER be back
