Very accommodating. Staff was excellent in my situation. A few years ago I bid and won a sporting clay shoot for 4. This was for a local fire dept. crab feed fundraiser. Well Covid hit everyone and shut things down, they honored it for 2 shooters last year and 2 this year. Blue course. We had a BLAST. Ate lunch at the little restaurant there. Very good.. All the way around, friendly people. Can't wait to go again....Thanks.

I am not a gun guy, but a round of sporting clays at Camanche Hills Hunting Preserve will get you googling shotguns!I did my first round of sporting clays in Las Vegas, at the county run course. It was paved and all of the stations were the same concrete and steel setups. Camanche is totally different, which is not a bad thing. There's no pavement and every station looks different, which is just fine, because the shooting is just as fun!The course itself is big, but its totally walkable and you don't need to rent a cart. The staff is helpful and the patrons are as well, and won't hesitate to share some tips if you are amateurs like we are. The course is challenging and well maintained. Price wise, it was a significantly more expensive that the county course in las vegas, so it that paired with the distance from Sacramento keep it from being a regular thing. But, if you have your own gun and bring your own shells, you can save significantly. If you don't have a gun, its totally fine to share. We shared one shotgun between four of us. The barrel got a little hot, but it wasn't an issue. Even if you bring your own ammo, you will save some bucks. In fact, the front desk recommended doing that for the next time we go.I will totally go again the next time visitors are in town and we need something to do or to celebrate something. It's a bit much to do as a spur of the moment activity, but I love that its an option that's nearby the city.

Great place to shoot clays and hunt pheasant with friends. Preserve helps keep birds from going extinct by putting funds back into sustainable habitats for birds and paying fees to keep hunting sustainable.

Love this place! It was my first experience with clay shooting, and it was AWESOME! Joyce the owner was so nice, and Michael, our volunteer instructor was great as well. We walked in here at about 11:30 and the place was pretty packed for a late December day! I got the vibe that locals come around quite often to shoot birdies, have lunch and chit-chat. Then there are the outsiders like ourselves who received more than just one or two warm welcomes. Everybody was super nice and helpful. The whole thing lasted about an hour and a half, and the four of us got to experience 3 different stations where the clay discs came from different angles. I was no darn good at it, but Michael was very encouraging and patient. For most, this isn't a sport people just get good at right away, and I definitely understood that. I did get a couple off, and I'm eager to come back and try it some more! Their prices are reasonable, and they have everything you need at the pro shop! They offer rifle rentals, and even dog rentals for those that want to go shoot real animals. Lastly, the place itself was beautiful. The drive over there was even more scenic and amazing. I will be back!!! Just for the skeet shooting of course, not for the birdies.

Very nice place to go hunting. Also a great place to shoot clays. The blue course is challenging, but still fun. Much nicer facilities than other shooting clubs / hunting preserves I've been to.

We used to be a golfing family, now when we're all together, we're shooting skeet, trap or sporting clays. Trust me...it's addictive! While home for the Thanksgiving holiday, the entire family packed into several cars and drove to Camanche hills to spend a day shooting. It's about an hour away from Dad's but the drive was really pretty and worth the extra effort to get away. This preserve is within a mile or so from the lake so if you want to make a weekend of camping, boating and shooting, this is the place to do it. Living in San Diego County, you don't have ANYTHING like this place here. Acres and acres of just fun. While we went to shoot sporting clays, you can actually hunt pheasants, quail and other birdies -- and trust me, this location will have the die hard hunters roaming around in the camouflage gear. Other reviews made mention of the locals giving you awkward glances. It's true. In our Lululemon tights, Sorel boots and accessories, we were definitely out of place. Next time, I will break out my rambo gear to fit in a little better. Mid way through the day, we took a break and went up to the restaurant for a late lunch. Even though the joint was packed, the waitress immediately greeted us and sat our party of 10 down. Waters all around were provided without even a request. Our group ordered everything from breakfast to lunch and everyone seemed extra pleased with their meals. I ordered the chili and fries and it was extra delicious! I ate every single bite. The hubby ordered a turkey sandwich and fries and devoured his meal as well. Who would've thought clay shooting with give us such a great appetite. The service here is unbelievably friendly (to even those seemingly out of place) and I really look forward to coming back here again soon. Our family is really into this so I can see us here for many family outings.....PuuuLLLLLL!
