Cabana Mexican Grill

Like most Mexican restaurants they brought us chips and salsa, and not one, but three(!) types of salsa, one of which was a creamy beans and chorizo concoction - just delicious. We'd planned to dine in, but the atmosphere was... slightly creepy. The parking lot was nearly empty and dark; the restaurant was dark too, but not in a romantic way; and while we're used to Mexican restaurants playing Mexican music in the background, never at the ear-splitting (!!!) volume they were playing it at. Maybe so the cooks could hear it in the kitchen (?), which isn't a bad thing - except that the patrons can't hear themselves or each other, and the (very nice) waitress' explanation of menu items can't be heard over it. A few minutes later we just couldn't handle the noise or vibe anymore, so asked for our food (good, by the way) to go, which might be the best bet if you're considering this place.

I don't think I can say about any restaurant that every item I have tasted there is simply DISGUSTING, except THIS PLACE!You might ask why does she continue to go there? I DON'T! It's near my place of work, so my boss orders from here often for all of the employees. I kid you not, at least one of us gets sick each time we eat the food. The last time being a couple weeks ago, one coworker got the runs and the other got symptoms of food poisoning with huge pains all day, I felt horrible for him!We eat it because we're grateful the boss orders for us, but we moan and groan as soon as we know from where the food is coming from, SAD! haaaahaaaOh, and who adds thousand island to a burrito? it was sweet and uneddible!

The service was great~ the server was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent ~ it was steak and shrimp filled with flavors only a latin kitchen can bring. Portions are very large as well~ enough to share.The basket of chips were mediocre, with 1 of the samplers being a bean dip of sorts. That was good, the other 2 too hot for me, haha. The biggest reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the location. Right next to the 99, and I overshot it. Not the easiest place to get to, but well worth it.

There's a reason why this place is consistently empty the food is terrible, whoever says you come here for good authentic mexican food likes old authentic mexican from a couple days back reheated and reused. There's a big banner that says happy hour Monday through Friday when we went in the server/owner told us it was only no day through Thursday, we were there on a Friday when we said the sign outside says Monday through Friday she denied a sign completely oh well that's okay we will pay full price for our beverages it's a struggling business that needs help, we get our food that we order, the seafood is drenched in what seems like soy sauce/tamarind sauce we figured out it was to mask that old seafood they had. Which by the way there was barely any seafood. You know this business has basically given up they don't care anymore at all.

Seafood is their specialty and it is damn good. very good sized portions, friendly staff Cards accepted

Excellent famliy resturant , the owners are very humble kind people, the seafood was amazing. And my family and I had a great expierence.

It was very good, authentic Mexican food. Do not come here for enchiladas or burritos they do not have them, This is real Mexico food!

This place is the best Mexican food I have ever had!! The cook isn't just your average cook!! No, he is a talented chef and trust me once you try one of their delicious dishes you'll see what I mean! Flautas, though a simple dish delicious but my favorite definitely the Mayan shrimp!! I wish I didn't live 7 hours away or else I'd be there every day for dinner!

This place only gets 2 stars because the waitress was nice and the restaurant was clean. The food was not good at all. The chips tasted stale, the shrimp tasted bad. The meat looked like it was cooked a few days ago and then reheated..my husband was in the bathroom sick before we even got the bill..My 1st and last time eating here.

It's been a couple of years since I've eaten here. I drive by it 3-4 times per day, and have noticed the parking lot being empty, even during lunch hour. I decided to try a "to go" order. I ordered a Carne Asada burrito. Nothing fancy.OMG, the inside was half full of lettuce! The meat was at one end only, and whoever wrapped it must have mistaken it for a newspaper. Nasty! I now understand the empty parking lot. I will continue past them to Chapala from now on.
