"The Spicy Fish is so good! Amazing taste paired with amazing service. You can customize your roll to your liking."
"We decided to come all the way to Modesto to give this place a try. The size of the poke bowlIs what made me give this place 4 stars. But overall I would have rated this location a solid 3 stars. For the price point of a large poke bowl ($15.50) it comes with your choice of bottom but we decided to choose sushi rice with 5 scoops of protein. We ordered 3 large poke bowls with a drink. The fish was fresh and they had multiple protein options. The crab is a topping instead of a protein and you can get an extra scoop for an extra $1.00. My main complaint on this location is that I really wish they would mix your raw proteins in a bowl with your sauces. I really didn't like that some of my fish had no flavor from the sauce. We've been to numerous poke locations that have a bowl to mix your proteins with your mix ins like onion, and cumbers with sauce then they poor it over your bowl. Since it isn't done that way it was a bit bland when just getting the plain fish. It has room for improvement. The location seems a bit older. You can tell this location needs a good cleaning from the inside and outside windows as well. A good face lift would give this location more of a curve appeal."

"Daughter wanted sushi for her birthday dinner so I brought her here. We were in the Modesto area and this seemed to have the best reviews. It was a nice comfortable place and all the workers seemed nice. I will say when we first got there it took awhile for someone to come take our order. Not sure if they were just understaffed or what. But once we were able to order the food didn't take too long to come out. I will say that all the food and sushi we had were very good and satisfying! The waitress even brought my daughter a nice dessert for her birthday! If I ever want good sushi that is a decent price I know where to go now! I would also like to go back to try their Hibachi menu."
"This place is located in a very awkwardly placed business complex. The walls inside are also painted a weird washed-out pastel green. Maybe it's a personal thought, but the wall colors make the food seem bland. The atmosphere of this place wasn't too impressive or inviting. The staff are helpful and attentive. They're great! Plus you can see the sushi chefs do their magic right in front of you, especially if you sit by the bar. This restaurant is probably the best priced sushi restaurant around. They pack a bang for their buck, for what they're offering. I got the fried calamari and there was a decent amount for its price but it seemed just slightly undercooked for me. I wanted the tempura batter to be a little more golden but that's just a personal preference. I also ordered a Kawaba beer (imported from Japan) and it was $8, which I felt was a little pricey for its size."
"I cannot speak to the ambiance of the restaurant because I have never dined in, but I have ordered take out from them 3 times! They are awesome at getting your order ready promptly and their sushi is reasonably priced. My sushi roll was around 10 dollars and great quality ingredients ! Everything tasted fresh and I liked that they provided the side of soy sauce without me asking . Perfect for an on the go lunch."
"YUM!! I was craving ramen and this place satisfied that craving. I ordered the sake bomb along with tonkatsu ramen while my cousin ordered their bulgogi gyu-don. Everything was yummy and all the food arrived quickly too! Very casual dining along with quick service."
"I finally found a place in Stockton that has Japanese food the way I like it!!!! It's not too saucy or sweet!!! Oh my goodness, if you all only knew how hard it is for me to find a place like that especially when the owner is not Japanese. This place is run by a Filipino that was trained by Japanese chefs! So their rolls aren't dripping in sauce!!! (Had a chat with the owners after and really enjoyed that we had the same opinions of authentic Japanese flavor. Fish was fresh! I had the poke bowl. It was FULL of good quality fish and was balanced beautifully. Fish to rice proportion was so nice. Perfect amounts of each. Plating was beautiful! Left me enough room to enjoy half of a veggie croquette order. Friend had Shrimp tempura which was really Ebi-fry (deep fried shrimp in panko). Tempura batter is made with flour or rice flour. (EDITED: turns out they did a cool double whammy and dipped it in tempura batter and then rolled it in panko. Oh M Genius!) It was apparently delicious as it went down the hatch along with three orders of perfect nigiri. We had green tea ice cream for dessert. All perfect and we will be back!!!! The service was perfect. Water was brought in a pitcher so we didn't have to bug her too often. Finally, the bill came and it was so nice and affordable for us. Coming from the Bay Area, it was so nice to not have to eat pbj sandwiches for a week to make up for the cost of dinner. Thanks!!!!"
"I've been here twice now and both times were fantastic! The first time was for dinner and my friend and I ordered a bunch of sushi and the crab Rangoon. The presentation for the sushi was crazy! So not expected. Our server was Jessica and she was on point! The next time was for lunchtime. My husband and I ordered the hibachi and a couple rolls. We had Josh for our server and he was excellent. We never had to ask for refills on our beverages. He kept them coming. The food was great both times and I love the atmosphere. It will be great when they get their liquor license for those who love to partake in alcohol. We will be back for sure."
"Always good portions though it seems they may have cutback a little bit. This is our favorite location out of all of them. Always fresh."
"The sushi was excellent. The server was not on her game. Served the wrong items to my table. And did not make the sushi order I submitted. It's too bad, but she was making mistakes the whole time."
"A great experience for lunch a few Saturdays ago. Love our server. She's been there since it was Sushi Garden and is always so helpful. All of the rolls were great portion sizes and so yummy. We will be back again."
"Holy smoley the garlic rice is beyond amazing and so was the teriyaki chicken. My husband's steak was also great!"

This past week I've ordered takeout from here twice and both times was not disappointed at all. I place my order through their website and my order is ready within 20 min. I haven't had any issues with ordering this way. Walking into the restaurant, you just get this really clean feeling, probably cause it's newer. The food was delicious of course! Haven't been let down by my choice of rolls thus far. The ladies working are very nice and have a smile on their face. Seriously, just check them out lol

I like this place generally but two things are keeping me from giving it more stars:1) The sushi chef doesn't know how to make sushi rolls properly. They are loosely rolled and the nori isn't sealed so every time I've had it, you pick up a roll and it immediately falls apart and the filling spills out - every time - and I end up eating the filling off the plate with my chopsticks. 2) They don't put bamboo shoots in their sukiyaki - which, after the noodles, is my favorite ingredient in sukiyaki.

My family and I tried ShoMi on a Saturday afternoon. We were in the mood for sushi and found a few choices on Yelp to try. While the reviews were mixed, we decided on ShoMi since it's been around for 20 years and located at the convenient Lincoln Shopping Center (which has plenty of available parking).Upon entering the restaurant, we stood at the front counter and watched several people go back and forth (putting orders to go, answering phones, and whatnot) but it took several minutes before anyone stopped to greet us. They informed us that we can order at that front counter or via phone app if we wanted to seat ourselves. We thought that was off-putting for a sit-down restaurant yet we didn't turn back. We found ourselves a seat and proceeded to go through their menu via our cell phones. The item that I wanted to order online kept prompting me to answer questions that didn't apply to the item (tempura). After trying several times, I gave up and ended up getting up to place our order at the front counter. By the time we sat back down, a waitress finally came by to bring us water. I showed her how messed up their online page was and she apologized but didn't seem interested in informing anyone at the restaurant to fix the problem. The sad thing about our experience is that waitress was the best thing about our visit. She was friendly and checked up on us throughout our meal. Besides the tempura, we also ordered udon noodles and fried squid. All of which were fairly flavorless. And, the thick coating on the tempura and squid made the dishes taste extra greasy.

The unlimited sake is a great deal for the price and all the sushi was fresh. The service was excellent, and I enjoy the lounge wooden couch furniture. 10/10 for me! Lastly, the music was 2000's R&B for date night and family night out

First time here and will not be our last. Beautiful restaurant and had great service and food! We went during lunch and each ordered a hibachi lunch, one steak & chicken and one steak & shrimp. Hibachi meals had great flavor and the veggies were amazing too! The fried rice was a bit dry but we added some leftover gyoza sauce we had from our appetizer and it improved it. Appetizer- Gyoza 5/5Hibachi Meal: Miso Soup 4/5Salad w/ Ginger 5/5Salad w/ Yum Yum 5/5Meat 5/5Veggies 5/5Fried rice 2/5Crunchy Crab Roll 5/5Service: 5/5Overall Price for Food: 5/5Great place and will be returning!

"Great addition to the Miracle Mile cuisine! @sakurahibachi_catering provides in spades!! Great culinary skills displayed by our chef de jour cooking up our flavorful fresh vegetables, our proteins including shrimp, steak filet, scallops, and salmon. Upgraded the fried rice and added garlic and bacon. Miso soup and grilled garlic edamame began our excellent culinary hibachi experience!! Sakè bombed twice, the waitress even joined me for that second one! That goodie goodie customer service, food, and overall experience! They had the World Series playin' and cool R & B music in the background. Check out @sakurahibachi_catering!"
"I don't even know where to start... we walked into a simple yet lovely little place in downtown Hughson. It was bright, spacious and cool (it was 100° out). The server was welcoming and told us to grab whatever seat we wanted. We started out with the garlic edamame... I am pretty sure they brine them in salt water... the garlic was everywhere and yummy! The one thing I liked is I didn't feel rushed to eat... it was a big plate and we had time to eat it. We ordered the 12 piece sashimi, the tuna was good but we saved the salmon and yellow fin (I think) for last... melt in your mouth goodness... the ocean torch was good but my favorite out of the two was the Gorilla roll... I would recommend this restaurant for both the sushi and Chinese food. We watched HUGE platters coming out to tables and they were for one person! You could easily share it. What a find!"
"Impressive amount of quality sushi. Very traditional Japanese menu. The temporary appetizer is superb"
"Love this spot! We have been coming here for years, and there is not much we haven't tried on this menu. Tonight we sat at the sushi bar, and had Larry as our sushi chef. Even tho it was a packed house, on a Friday night, he was personable, knowledgeable and made excellent sushi. The Flaming Scallops were phenomenal! Just the right amount of torch burn, to give it an amazing flavor. King Cobra and the crabby roll, were absolutely delicious 10/10 recommend."
"The food was great, service was excellent, and ambiance was as best i ever experienced. I would recommend it to all. Thank you for a great Valentine's Day"
"I've never had poke and decided to give this spot a try. It's cute, clean, and the staff are friendly with great customer service. I ordered The Heat Wave and it was delicious where has poke been my whole life? Give this place a try!"
"PHENOMENAL BEST IN TOWN ! This is coming from two sushi LOVERS !!!!Excellent customer service ! Always checking in !They offered to let us try sauces and items just so we know what else to order next time!We came to celebrate a new job and found a new favorite restaurant not just a nee sushi place.Francisco the owner was super cool and talkative with us and the rest of the clientele Every roll was delicious but you HAVE to try the diablo edamame and the oishi roll! We tried the sauce for the lobster roll and will 100% be getting the lobster roll next time!!!They even have a rewards program for people who spend over $50 a meal and you can earn enough to get a beer after a few visits lol!"
"I came here for a family dinner. When I entered inside i noticed the interior was dated, but that doesn't deter me. We were greeted right away and the staff showed us to our table. The staff was very nice and friendly. You can order Chinese food and sushi here. My parents opted for Chinese dishes and my brother and I ordered sushi. We ordered several rolls as they were reasonably priced. They came out quickly and were really good. I would definitely come back again."
"Food was meh. See picture of vegetable tempura...is that really a serving? Gyoza was fried weird, but taste was good. 3% charge for credit card. I wouldn't eat here again."
"Their Paloma is delicious. I had two of them and I had a nice buzz going. I don't care for their sushi but it's original, I'll give them that. Since I didn't care for their sushi, I ordered a torta and that was a lot better. They have a lot of other food and since I enjoyed their drinks I wouldn't mind going back but I'll try the rest of their seafood. It was a rainy night and parking was tight but they do have seating outside so maybe I'll go out there again on a summer night. There was a young server which must have been a family member because he wasn't really doing much except for being on his phone but there was another lady who was pleasant and assisted as much as she could. Neat place but not 5-star worthy. Maybe next time."
"Ordered online and it was ready by the time I got there. Efficiency: Check. They got my order right, I had asked for cucumber substitute as I can't eat avocado. I ordered a tuna and salmon maki. Hamachi maki. Spicy tuna. Rainbow roll. Spicy poke. Ranging Fire. And Cool Runnings. Everything was well made. Nothing fell apart during transport. One of the roll, the slices was a bit inconsistent but not a big deal as you still get the entire roll. I liked that they don't use too much rice. A lot of places just stuff their rolls with rice, that is why they look so big. Could they use a bit more fish? Yes, but guessing the price would then be higher. Taste wise, it wasn't bad. The Spicy rolls were Spicy but not overly powering. Fishes didn't taste "fishy" which is a good thing. No fishy aftertaste. Price wise: Pretty on par with the other sushi places around there. As were the portion sizes.I've ordered here a handful of times over the years and they have been somewhat consistent, for the most part in terms of their food quality. I've only had 1 bad experience there but it was only one of their rolls. The fish was not looking fresh, so I didn't eat it. Ambience: Hard to say. I've always tried to order to go during non busy times. I've never been there when there are a lot of people. So, if you go during non peak hours, it's nice and quiet, minus the tvs that are playing. And I think it is a bit too dark."
"Another first! I don't just give out 5 ! But I have to here. You know "Don't judge the book by its cover "! This is one of those places. The waitress was very sweet and took our order pretty quick. Then everything came out! OMG. The Hot Lips were Delicious! Then the rolls came out! Off the hook delicious! Special Giant, wow! Yummy. Then the salmon dynamite roll, you have to try it yourself! Delicious! Thank you for everything! Yes! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some great sushi!"
"Delicious!!! I have ordered both for take out and dine in and enjoyed my food both times. The sushi here is phenomenal! So fresh and so tasty! The service I received on this last visit was great! The host accommodated us very well as we were in a tight schedule with our 1 hour lunch. We ordered the ceviche, edamame, and 2 rolls (one was Italian). The Italian role was amazing! I had never had sushi with pesto and it was surprisingly SO good.Moving on to the ambience. The restaurant has a very trendy vibe inside with a full bar and dark interior. I loved eating inside rather than taking my food to go. The sushi tastes so fresh and is one of the best I have had between Manteca/Stockton. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this restaurant!"
"So I felt like some teppanyaki today. Hubby found this place while searching Google. Only 45 minutes from us. So here we are!Hubby got an appetizer of ahi poke bowl. Meals start with onion soup and salad. Hubby had tuna and fried rice. I got hibachi chicken and fried rice. Food is so yummy. Our cook put on a wonderful show. Fire yay! Everything is prepped in front of you. It really is spectacular especially for a date night. This restaurant is a small and romantic place. It is not too loud at all. Yes, we did come at lunch so I'm not sure how loud it is at night!Would definitely recommend stopping by."
"So for my nieces birthday we went here to celebrate, large group of about 24 people. It was a Friday night, but they let us make a reservation and sat everyone down quickly as they came in. With the amount of people in our group the service was on point! Quick to bring out the food, drinks, refills, anything we needed. The food was amazing, I had the teriyaki chicken bento box, so I got a little bit of everything, perfect amount of food and reasonably priced. Others had sushi rolls, the volcano roll was the favorite. Some had prawns, edamame, a little bit of everything. No one complained about their food, including the kids. Place has nice decor, full bar, and clean. Will definitely be back, and highly recommend. My 9 yr old niece told me "you need to give them a good review." And I sure am lol"
"Buffet Man Sez: I debated doing a review because I want to keep this place a secret. Old school Japanese restaurant like those I grew up with in Hawaii. Like a memory frozen in time. The sukiyaki is the best in the valley! Sesame chicken is super crispy and light! Vegetable tempura sushi is brok da mout brah!!! Fave pick for me!!!"
"Food was delicious and reasonable for the amount of meat they give you. I love that they put the sauce on the side and not all over the meat"
"Randomly decided to meet family in Lodi for dinner after Christmas and we were not disappointed! They have a huge selection of sushi rolls, sashimi, hot dishes and cold dishes. We ordered 7 rolls, 2 sashimi combos and 1 ramen. Each one was delicious and hit the spot. Fish and ingredients all tasted fresh. The rolls came out pretty quickly and weren't falling apart like other places that rush their preparations. Service was great and atmosphere was warm and cozy. They were playing rap music which wasn't giving a sushi vibe but it wasn't too loud so I appreciated that, since we were there to see family. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely come back next time we're in Lodi."
"Yes! This was one of the tastiest bento meals I've had! I loved the Saba Shioyaki. It had tons of flavor and was perfect with the white rice. Also, the tempura shrimp and vegetables were great. Everything was really quite perfect, including the Thai Iced Tea and miso soup. The service was also quite good. The server was attentive and friendly and there was a good vibe from the staff. Glad I tried this restaurant!"
"Food was great! Service was welcoming and fantastic. The ladies are always very friendly. The weekday lunch specials are a bang for your buck. They are under new management with new food items."
"I've been wanting to check out Zoku for quite some time. We decided it was a FriYay day at work- so let's go out for dinner! We came in right at opening, before the rush that came in near the end of our meal! The menu has a ton of options, and since I practiced restraint, I'll have to go back for a few other items that caught my eye. This time around, we got the assorted sashimi appetizer with tuna, salmon and hamachi. For being quite a newbie to the raw fish world, and very texture picky, I enjoyed the freshness of each type and would order it again. We also ordered the grilled edamame- which that addition of the char flavor made this something I would choose to order each time. The agedashi tofu was also quite tasty, but due to the textural aspect, I would have preferred a firm tofu. This is traditionally made with soft to medium-firm, so just something to keep in mind texturally! (I'd order it again though... I'd just have to prepare myself that it more melts in your mouth.)Lastly, there were 3 rolls I was bouncing between and settled on the Chili Spider Salmon roll with soft shell crab. I liked it, but I don't know that it would be the particular dish that would bring me in time and time again. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other options that caught my eye.Service was great- prompt, friendly and efficient. I like how they have the sushi bar seating and it was clean and uncluttered, unlike so many other places in the area appear to be. It was an inviting space."
"The food always bomb here. I like how they put your whole order in a platter. I believe it's takeout only but my daughter picks it up. So so good"
"I started vacation early As I picked up my online order, I sat and ordered a drink The young man who made this astonishing oyster shot for me, was one of the cooks. Cross strained. He got up from his meal to prepare my oyster shooter. I actually begged him to finish his meal first but exactly as I would have done, he left his meal to wait on me. I appreciated beyond words it as someone with over 20 years in the industry. Cheers to vacation Light the fires and kick the tires I'm comin' home I haven't been into this location in months. But consider myself a regular as I use to go once a week. I love the staff and the owner is a friend. The place has improved since I last visited and that says so much, this is a beautiful establishment. Bravo"
