"I loved my ramen. This place was pleasantly surprising. I had no issues with my order and the staff was very kind!"
"I haven't had Luu's Chciken Bowl since I was a kid, we grew up eating it from their restaurant in the Eastside of Stockton. Recently at work we were talking about getting lunch and someone brought up Luu's, saying they haven't had it in forever either. So we went to the one on Pacific Ave, went through the drive through. Service was quick, prices are actually still pretty reasonable given how long they've been around and everywhere else keeps raising prices. I got the #1 which is the regular chicken bowl, I think it was around $8.95. Comes with the chciken, veggies and rice. We even got some chicken egg rolls. The bowl was good, still worth trying. The egg rolls were ok, I didn't care too much for them but OK. Definitely recommend for a quick lunch for a great price."

"It's been said again and again. This is a hole in the wall. Nothing fancy. Perhaps a tad messy. Definitely somewhat cluttered (stored empty cardboard boxes for larger to-go orders). There was one table outside that was occupied when we walked in. Maybe seven or eight tables inside. I think two were occupied when we walked in. The ordering scheme is simple. Go to the counter, read the menu, place your order, pay and then grab a table. To simplify things, one side of the menu features Chinese dishes while the other side features Japanese. The order taker/cashier/server was very friendly and probably the owner as well. We were on our way to a show, not starving but wanting something quick and warm to eat. We settled on a single order of Chicken Curry with Potato, Carrot and Onion over Steamed Rice. We asked for a cup of Ice Water to drink, and he insisted that he give us two cups of Ice Water. As we were getting ready to sit down, he rushed over and asked us to wait a moment while he wiped the table down for us. When our order was ready, he brought it to us in a styrofoam container along with two food trays, two set-ups and a soup spoon to use as a serving spoon. He also refilled our waters and brought us fortune cookies. For a simple Curry over Rice, this order was surprisingly good. The Potatoes and Carrots were cooked well, firm without being mushy. The Curry had a nice bite to it. Even the rice was of excellent quality. And that's one area where many restaurants make the mistake of trying to save cost by use inferior rice. Not here, it was delicious and the price of $12.79 including sales tax is ridiculously inexpensive. We have one more show at the Gallo Center for the Arts this season and I think we know where we're going to have a virtual feast!"
"Daughter wanted sushi for her birthday dinner so I brought her here. We were in the Modesto area and this seemed to have the best reviews. It was a nice comfortable place and all the workers seemed nice. I will say when we first got there it took awhile for someone to come take our order. Not sure if they were just understaffed or what. But once we were able to order the food didn't take too long to come out. I will say that all the food and sushi we had were very good and satisfying! The waitress even brought my daughter a nice dessert for her birthday! If I ever want good sushi that is a decent price I know where to go now! I would also like to go back to try their Hibachi menu."
"I cannot speak to the ambiance of the restaurant because I have never dined in, but I have ordered take out from them 3 times! They are awesome at getting your order ready promptly and their sushi is reasonably priced. My sushi roll was around 10 dollars and great quality ingredients ! Everything tasted fresh and I liked that they provided the side of soy sauce without me asking . Perfect for an on the go lunch."
"YUM!! I was craving ramen and this place satisfied that craving. I ordered the sake bomb along with tonkatsu ramen while my cousin ordered their bulgogi gyu-don. Everything was yummy and all the food arrived quickly too! Very casual dining along with quick service."
"One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Turlock!!! My son loves this place also and we got at least twice a month. We usually order our food to go and eat at home, I'm not too thrilled with eating there, but they give you soooo much food, we always have leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day! I have pretty much tried everything on the menu. My kiddo loves the orange chicken, he never orders anything differently lol. My favorites are the almond & string bean chicken combo plates, broccoli beef, sweet & sour pork, anything Szechuan and/or Kung pao flavored (beef, chicken, seasfood/shrimp) and of course, pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, eggs rolls & potstickers are bomb!! (We never have any of those leftover ). Tastes just as good the next day! Highly recommend."
"I finally found a place in Stockton that has Japanese food the way I like it!!!! It's not too saucy or sweet!!! Oh my goodness, if you all only knew how hard it is for me to find a place like that especially when the owner is not Japanese. This place is run by a Filipino that was trained by Japanese chefs! So their rolls aren't dripping in sauce!!! (Had a chat with the owners after and really enjoyed that we had the same opinions of authentic Japanese flavor. Fish was fresh! I had the poke bowl. It was FULL of good quality fish and was balanced beautifully. Fish to rice proportion was so nice. Perfect amounts of each. Plating was beautiful! Left me enough room to enjoy half of a veggie croquette order. Friend had Shrimp tempura which was really Ebi-fry (deep fried shrimp in panko). Tempura batter is made with flour or rice flour. (EDITED: turns out they did a cool double whammy and dipped it in tempura batter and then rolled it in panko. Oh M Genius!) It was apparently delicious as it went down the hatch along with three orders of perfect nigiri. We had green tea ice cream for dessert. All perfect and we will be back!!!! The service was perfect. Water was brought in a pitcher so we didn't have to bug her too often. Finally, the bill came and it was so nice and affordable for us. Coming from the Bay Area, it was so nice to not have to eat pbj sandwiches for a week to make up for the cost of dinner. Thanks!!!!"
"Okay Stockton!! More reasons to love the area other than visiting mama bear haha. The team that runs this business is friendly and food portion is more than enough. "But did the food taste good?!?" On point. Ordered the Tokyo steak, chicken and shrimp combo, gyoza for myself(I feel you judging me) and the little one got the salmon. While we waited for our food, there were a variety of Japanese snacks and drinks to choose from, music was playing and the line started to form. Come early! As we were getting ready to leave the parking lot, the strong delicious scent coming from our bag kept us parked and we ate there. Would definitely come back soon!"
"I've been here twice now and both times were fantastic! The first time was for dinner and my friend and I ordered a bunch of sushi and the crab Rangoon. The presentation for the sushi was crazy! So not expected. Our server was Jessica and she was on point! The next time was for lunchtime. My husband and I ordered the hibachi and a couple rolls. We had Josh for our server and he was excellent. We never had to ask for refills on our beverages. He kept them coming. The food was great both times and I love the atmosphere. It will be great when they get their liquor license for those who love to partake in alcohol. We will be back for sure."
"The sushi was excellent. The server was not on her game. Served the wrong items to my table. And did not make the sushi order I submitted. It's too bad, but she was making mistakes the whole time."
"I was craving salmon bento box so I decided on Satomi's salmon teriyaki plate. I wished there was salad and soup that came with it. The veggies were steamed without seasoning. I must compliment the chef. I haven't had salmon with perfect texture in a while."

My family and I had the opportunity to check out this local gem. Great food and amazing customer service. I like the variety of items and our food was fresh. Thank you!

Went through the drive thru and it was quick and simple. Always good with their added spice and sauce. Chicken wasn't dry nor was the rice. Thought I'd share an updated menu because the most recent one was almost a decade ago.

During a training in downtown Modesto I located Tokyo Express as a good spot for lunch. The first thing to note is people aren't wrong; this is a hole in the wall. There are tables inside but it was pretty packed during lunch, so plan accordingly. I ordered the Hot & Spicy Ramen and I left very happy. The broth had just the right amount of spices and the noodles were delicate and delicious. The egg was perfectly soft-boiled. The only item in the ramen I didn't care for was the broccoli, but that is because I think broccoli is a gift from Satan, so personal preference on that one. I knocked one star for the choice of serving receptacles. Most all of the take-out carriers and drink cups were Styrofoam. Recent legislation in CA banned Styrofoam so I was surprised to see it in use in the restaurant. Hopefully when their batch of Styrofoam products is up they will re-order a more sustainable item for their use.

This past week I've ordered takeout from here twice and both times was not disappointed at all. I place my order through their website and my order is ready within 20 min. I haven't had any issues with ordering this way. Walking into the restaurant, you just get this really clean feeling, probably cause it's newer. The food was delicious of course! Haven't been let down by my choice of rolls thus far. The ladies working are very nice and have a smile on their face. Seriously, just check them out lol

My family and I tried ShoMi on a Saturday afternoon. We were in the mood for sushi and found a few choices on Yelp to try. While the reviews were mixed, we decided on ShoMi since it's been around for 20 years and located at the convenient Lincoln Shopping Center (which has plenty of available parking).Upon entering the restaurant, we stood at the front counter and watched several people go back and forth (putting orders to go, answering phones, and whatnot) but it took several minutes before anyone stopped to greet us. They informed us that we can order at that front counter or via phone app if we wanted to seat ourselves. We thought that was off-putting for a sit-down restaurant yet we didn't turn back. We found ourselves a seat and proceeded to go through their menu via our cell phones. The item that I wanted to order online kept prompting me to answer questions that didn't apply to the item (tempura). After trying several times, I gave up and ended up getting up to place our order at the front counter. By the time we sat back down, a waitress finally came by to bring us water. I showed her how messed up their online page was and she apologized but didn't seem interested in informing anyone at the restaurant to fix the problem. The sad thing about our experience is that waitress was the best thing about our visit. She was friendly and checked up on us throughout our meal. Besides the tempura, we also ordered udon noodles and fried squid. All of which were fairly flavorless. And, the thick coating on the tempura and squid made the dishes taste extra greasy.

Asian cafe is the old China cafe however the food is great. They have teriyaki chicken and beef as well as many of the old dishes from before. My favorite include Udon, honey walnut shrimp, teriyaki chicken.

The unlimited sake is a great deal for the price and all the sushi was fresh. The service was excellent, and I enjoy the lounge wooden couch furniture. 10/10 for me! Lastly, the music was 2000's R&B for date night and family night out

"A great experience for lunch a few Saturdays ago. Love our server. She's been there since it was Sushi Garden and is always so helpful. All of the rolls were great portion sizes and so yummy. We will be back again."
"I have been wanting to try this location for a while now and I excited to get a chance. I ordered sweet and sour pork and rice with an egg roll and the yakitori chicken skewers. I was so excited to try it that I ate the egg roll in my car in the parking lot. It was really good! It was very big and had great flavor. There was also sauce to dip it in. It it was honestly so good I didn't even try the sauce. With an amuse bouche like that I closed up the bag and drove home excitedly anticipating how delicious the rest of the food was going to be. When I arrived home, I was very disappointed. The pork was literally what you get in the freezer aisle at the grocery store and the rice was excessively moist. The whole meal was bland and pretty gross to be honest. The takiyaki was so dry and even the mushroom were shriveled and dehydrated. Although I would not come here again for a meal, I would definitely consider stopping in for another egg roll or two if I wanted a nice snack so if you are thinking of stopping here, do yourself a favor and add an egg roll to your order."
"Holy smoley the garlic rice is beyond amazing and so was the teriyaki chicken. My husband's steak was also great!"
"Their food is amazing! If you don't feel like waiting you can call ahead and place your order. We always get the wontons, and some egg rolls. Their teriyaki food is healthy, fast, and fresh. They have a few different options, if you want vegetables you have to order a certain type combination otherwise you just end up with the meat and the noodles etc.I love the yakitori here. The sauce is amazing and the chicken is cooked perfectly. Our family doesn't branch off from chicken or beef, so I'm not sure of what else they might have available. But this is a great go-to if you're in the mood for some good Japanese teriyaki."
"I don't even know where to start... we walked into a simple yet lovely little place in downtown Hughson. It was bright, spacious and cool (it was 100° out). The server was welcoming and told us to grab whatever seat we wanted. We started out with the garlic edamame... I am pretty sure they brine them in salt water... the garlic was everywhere and yummy! The one thing I liked is I didn't feel rushed to eat... it was a big plate and we had time to eat it. We ordered the 12 piece sashimi, the tuna was good but we saved the salmon and yellow fin (I think) for last... melt in your mouth goodness... the ocean torch was good but my favorite out of the two was the Gorilla roll... I would recommend this restaurant for both the sushi and Chinese food. We watched HUGE platters coming out to tables and they were for one person! You could easily share it. What a find!"
"Impressive amount of quality sushi. Very traditional Japanese menu. The temporary appetizer is superb"
"Great Food, Great Service overall it was a great day with our Chef/Cook Jonathan. We went in to Celebrate a birthday. Thank you all and a Big Thanks again to Jonathan. I have been to Shirasoni before and Jonathan was our Chef/Cook again he always puts on a great show and makes great food."
"International Flavors is nice with it. Great customer service, was quick with my order and the food taste great. He recommended to put both sauces all over the food and he was absolutely right. Make sure you put both sauces on everything. The price might be a lot but they actually give good portions. Definitely give this place a try."
"Love this spot! We have been coming here for years, and there is not much we haven't tried on this menu. Tonight we sat at the sushi bar, and had Larry as our sushi chef. Even tho it was a packed house, on a Friday night, he was personable, knowledgeable and made excellent sushi. The Flaming Scallops were phenomenal! Just the right amount of torch burn, to give it an amazing flavor. King Cobra and the crabby roll, were absolutely delicious 10/10 recommend."
"Portion size is never a concern when it comes to the chicken teriyaki bowl at Teriyaki King. This fast food restaurant is more than generous with their servings, ensuring that you leave feeling satisfied. The balance of protein, vegetables, and rice in each bowl is thoughtfully crafted, providing a fulfilling and hearty meal that will leave you feeling content. The customer service is always amazing and always a pit stop for me when I'm visiting in the Central Valley!"
"I came here for a family dinner. When I entered inside i noticed the interior was dated, but that doesn't deter me. We were greeted right away and the staff showed us to our table. The staff was very nice and friendly. You can order Chinese food and sushi here. My parents opted for Chinese dishes and my brother and I ordered sushi. We ordered several rolls as they were reasonably priced. They came out quickly and were really good. I would definitely come back again."
"Food was meh. See picture of vegetable tempura...is that really a serving? Gyoza was fried weird, but taste was good. 3% charge for credit card. I wouldn't eat here again."
"Fast and good service. The staff was nice too. My son enjoyed his order - Teriyaki chicken bowl. Ambiance was okay, not busy. Will definitely come back and try their poke salad."
"Ordered online and it was ready by the time I got there. Efficiency: Check. They got my order right, I had asked for cucumber substitute as I can't eat avocado. I ordered a tuna and salmon maki. Hamachi maki. Spicy tuna. Rainbow roll. Spicy poke. Ranging Fire. And Cool Runnings. Everything was well made. Nothing fell apart during transport. One of the roll, the slices was a bit inconsistent but not a big deal as you still get the entire roll. I liked that they don't use too much rice. A lot of places just stuff their rolls with rice, that is why they look so big. Could they use a bit more fish? Yes, but guessing the price would then be higher. Taste wise, it wasn't bad. The Spicy rolls were Spicy but not overly powering. Fishes didn't taste "fishy" which is a good thing. No fishy aftertaste. Price wise: Pretty on par with the other sushi places around there. As were the portion sizes.I've ordered here a handful of times over the years and they have been somewhat consistent, for the most part in terms of their food quality. I've only had 1 bad experience there but it was only one of their rolls. The fish was not looking fresh, so I didn't eat it. Ambience: Hard to say. I've always tried to order to go during non busy times. I've never been there when there are a lot of people. So, if you go during non peak hours, it's nice and quiet, minus the tvs that are playing. And I think it is a bit too dark."
"Another first! I don't just give out 5 ! But I have to here. You know "Don't judge the book by its cover "! This is one of those places. The waitress was very sweet and took our order pretty quick. Then everything came out! OMG. The Hot Lips were Delicious! Then the rolls came out! Off the hook delicious! Special Giant, wow! Yummy. Then the salmon dynamite roll, you have to try it yourself! Delicious! Thank you for everything! Yes! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some great sushi!"
"Delicious!!! I have ordered both for take out and dine in and enjoyed my food both times. The sushi here is phenomenal! So fresh and so tasty! The service I received on this last visit was great! The host accommodated us very well as we were in a tight schedule with our 1 hour lunch. We ordered the ceviche, edamame, and 2 rolls (one was Italian). The Italian role was amazing! I had never had sushi with pesto and it was surprisingly SO good.Moving on to the ambience. The restaurant has a very trendy vibe inside with a full bar and dark interior. I loved eating inside rather than taking my food to go. The sushi tastes so fresh and is one of the best I have had between Manteca/Stockton. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this restaurant!"
"The pricing is surprisingly inexpensive for what you get. The service was relatively quick and efficient. When we placed our order, we were told 20 minutes. Because we had our dog with us, we waited outside and when the order was ready, the gentleman brought it out to us.We didn't order a whole lot. we had seen Happy Garden on Yelp, and it sounded intriguing. We felt that we needed to stop by for a sample even though we had already had a great lunch in Oakdale. We ordered:California Roll - 5 - I would appreciate some julienned cucumbers but many sushi-ya's no longer put those in. They add a bit of texture and flavor. Spicy Tuna Roll - 5 - Just the right amount of heat. The rice was good. I'm not sure that it was seasoned but there was enough flavor in the Tuna. Inari - 5 - A very simple dish. Sushi rice stuffed into tofu skins that have been cooked in a seasoning liquid. I wish places would offer Inari stuffed with rice, green peas, slivered egg and bamboo shoots. Of course they would charge more but that's okay. Egg Rolls - 5 - Mostly stuffed with Cabbage and Carrots. These are delicious after they've cooled down from the fryer. I could eat these everyday. The inside of the restaurant was spacious and clean. If we didn't have the Princess with us, we would have eaten in."
"Buffet Man Sez: I debated doing a review because I want to keep this place a secret. Old school Japanese restaurant like those I grew up with in Hawaii. Like a memory frozen in time. The sukiyaki is the best in the valley! Sesame chicken is super crispy and light! Vegetable tempura sushi is brok da mout brah!!! Fave pick for me!!!"
"Food was delicious and reasonable for the amount of meat they give you. I love that they put the sauce on the side and not all over the meat"
"The food here is always on point. The service has been friendly as well. It is a small place so not the best for dine in if you have a large party. I would recommend having cash just in case because sometimes their internet provider fails them and they can't take credit cards. A good clue for this is if you call there to place an order and it won't connect they are having internet issues. I went there the other day after noticing this and received excellent service."
"Randomly decided to meet family in Lodi for dinner after Christmas and we were not disappointed! They have a huge selection of sushi rolls, sashimi, hot dishes and cold dishes. We ordered 7 rolls, 2 sashimi combos and 1 ramen. Each one was delicious and hit the spot. Fish and ingredients all tasted fresh. The rolls came out pretty quickly and weren't falling apart like other places that rush their preparations. Service was great and atmosphere was warm and cozy. They were playing rap music which wasn't giving a sushi vibe but it wasn't too loud so I appreciated that, since we were there to see family. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely come back next time we're in Lodi."
"Yes! This was one of the tastiest bento meals I've had! I loved the Saba Shioyaki. It had tons of flavor and was perfect with the white rice. Also, the tempura shrimp and vegetables were great. Everything was really quite perfect, including the Thai Iced Tea and miso soup. The service was also quite good. The server was attentive and friendly and there was a good vibe from the staff. Glad I tried this restaurant!"
"Food was great! Service was welcoming and fantastic. The ladies are always very friendly. The weekday lunch specials are a bang for your buck. They are under new management with new food items."
