"Let's get the rates out of the way first. Your swing evaluation (first session) is going to be $150. Then afterward, it's up to about $215/hr. You can get a better rate if you do a bigger package.Who is Patrick best for?In my opinion, Patrick will give the best bang for buck for someone who already has a gameable swing (scoring in the 80s to 100s), has decent body awareness, and is looking for an instructor who will notice the small details that are costing a player 5-10 strokes a round. Read the reviews already here and most of them are from people who have already been playing for some time. After a single lesson, I can already tell Patrick's attention to detail is superb. The day after my lesson (I generally have wavered between a high single digit and low double digit index), I shot +3 through 11 from the back tees. Getting to a 5 index this year seems realistic now.If you're completely new to golf, you can find cheaper instructors who will give you a basic understanding of the swing. They will generally all tell you the same thing, and it will likely take you some time to get your body used to the golf swing. Once you feel like you can make contact on 8/10 balls at the range on a consistent basis, or are scoring in about the 110s, then come in to Patrick to really mold your swing. For the love of God though, do not try to coach yourself through YouTube."
"I played Boundary yesterday after a 20+ year layoff from this course. I stopped playing here due to the course being overplayed and in rough condition. A buddy said I had to try it again as the conditions were improved. I am going to agree, I thought the course was in reasonable condition for being a city owned course. The holes are challenging, the greens were in good shape, the fairways were good, but the tee boxes on the par 3's were alittle rough. Being in the foothills with every hole having views of the surrounding hills was great. I think this course is a great value."
"The custom fitting experience is incredible. They are so knowledgeable and have the right equipment to show you exactly what fits you. I have never met anyone who knows more about fitting clubs to a player. The driver I ended up with gave me 25 extra yards and I refer anyone who asks me how I did it. My husband also went recently and loves his new Nakashima driver, irons and wedges. He got custom fit by them and he has never been happier with his equipment. If you've never experienced swinging a golf club that is custom fit to you, you are missing out. It's worth every penny."
"Probably the most easy going course I've been in Sacramento with a fair price, solid competitive layout, well maintained, and lots of foliage to ensure you get as much shade as you do sun.Highly recommend this spot to anyone that wants a quality day out of golfing without feeling too snobby."
"I really enjoy playing golf here but it does have one drawback. There is a garbage landfill not to far away and sometimes you can smell it. Great service though and beautiful views of the delta."
"Staff is always helpful. Course has been redesigned a bit. Nice place to get out with friends and hit some balls!"
"Booked an early morning tee time and I had a blast. The course was maintained well, the fairways were on the narrow side but that made it challenging and fun. Not many hazards other than being OB, so it's hard to lose a ball out here. Carts can drive anywhere other than green, the tee box, or designated areas. One thing I didn't appreciate was the Marshall approached our group because the other groups were "catching up" implying that we were playing slow. We finished our round in 4 hours and 4 minutes so I don't know how much faster you want us to play. The groups behind us never waited for us. We were either on or leaving the green and they haven't left the tee box yet. Even on par 3's, they were never waiting for us. So for the Marshall to approach us asking us to play faster I felt was out of line. After the round I wanted to clean off my shoes before going into the pro shop, there wasn't an air compressor or at least a shoe scrubber brush mat. Overall, great course, the pro shop had a big selection. The parking lot isn't in danger of being hit by golf balls, unless you have someone absolutely crush it on the 7th hole. I would love to come play here again."
"What a disappointment... Although the pace of our round was decent at just about 4 1/2 hours, the course itself is in horrible shape. Many fairways are unplayable due to poor drainage and ground under repair. It is unfortunate that the reward for hitting your drive to the middle of the fairway is a shoe ruining walk through mud just to retrieve your ball from a small lake. The greens were in okay shape but many tee boxes were pretty tore up. Perhaps this would be a great place to play mid summer, but not right now - the price was way too high for this 'experience'. On a side note: We tried the Bloody Mary's that people have raved about - they were okay but nothing that would get me back to this course in the winter."
"A city golf course located in a serene enviroment just south of John Thurman field. Today I received my first lesson in golf. It was cool to play with my putter to my hearts contecnt. Hopefully by the end of this class I really will learn how to control my balls. The golf course was truly a relaxing experience with near perfect winter weather. No rain, no blasting wind or bitter cold unlike my ex girlfriends."
"I love this place. The golf course is absolutely beautiful, and quite challenging despite the lower slope and course rating. The staff is awesome, the food in the bar and deli for pre/mid/post round is always good, and the drinks flow nicely. The food in the restaurant is really good, it's small so definitely look for a reservation, you'll be glad you did. This place is a hidden jewel!"
"Just came here for a wedding on Saturday. The clubhouse is very beautiful awesome views of the golf course. I'm not sure if the food was catered in or if it was done in house but it was pretty damn good. The reception had a separate room for dancing so it was a little awkward as people had to walk over to see the dancing happen. Overall this was a very nice venue for a wedding."
"Our 8 year old grandson wanted to learn to golf. This is the perfect place. $65/hr. Its indoors, air conditioned, and perfectly appointed. You can rent hourly, so when the family gets bored and the time stops its all good! And the price is solid for 8 people per bay. We had no issues extending our time. We didn't try the snack bar, only had drinks, so no comment there. I'd say try it out!"

The match between swing coaches and players can, at times, be subject to a lot of different factors. I've had awkward lessons in the past from other coaches who it was just a bad pairing. But my work with Patrick has been encouraging, helpful, clear and understandable, and repeatable. For a full understanding, I've been playing off and on for 30 years. Been as low as an 11 index, but had laid off the game entirely for about 10 years. Getting back into the game in my early 60's means I have rust and physical limitations I didn't used to have.Patrick has been great at identifying the fundamental gaps I'd been playing with for, well, decades. Then showing me what needs to be changed, and providing repeatable exercises that I can put into practice to slowly build new habits.Another thing - like a lot of us, my head can be full of all sorts of swing thoughts and YouTube advice LOLPatrick has been great at encouraging me to clear the mind of all the confusing, contradictory swirl in my head and swing free. And to play golf, not play golf swing.Bottom line - yes, I've gained distance, consistency. I sort of figured any coach will be able to have positive results if I'm willing to incorporate what they teach. But what has been great is getting clear bite-sized chunks that is making the game more simple and enjoyable. My recommendation is consider Patrick as a good option as you begin to choose who you want to improve your game with.

This review is just based on the driving range and practice area. I have not played the actual course yet, but I will make an update to this review when I do. Price: 4/5The price here is very reasonable for a bucket of balls compared to other courses in the area. A large bucket of 90 balls is $10. A small bucket is $6. You can pay by credit card at the machine or you can purchase a ticket in the pro shop. Range: 2/5The actual range is where my lower rating is coming from. This range is uphill and there is a huge dirt patch right in the main area of the range, making it more difficult to see where your ball lands. There are no flags on the markers and no signs or indicators on how far each marker is. The driving range mats are fairly worn down also. However, there is a shaded area over most of the mats, and the area around is nice. Practice greens/chipping area: 4/5The practice greens are nice and they are located just behind the driving range. They were a little wet and soggy when I went out here, but I'm sure it is not like that all time. Regardless, it was still nice and I enjoyed it. Parking/Area: 5/5There is a lot of parking around the range and the pro shop. It is easy to find. It is nestled along the hills of lime ridge and nice park is right near by if you have kids you want to bring there after playing.

Besides the quality of the clubs the fitting process is awesome. Having the ability to see your swing speed and carry makes Nakashima golf an easy choice

We had a wonderful time here. Hubby and I went with our 3 little boys, it was hectic, but it was fun. The club house was nice, to the left was the shop with a great selection of balls, the two gentleman were super nice. To the right was the bar area with tables very nice with TVs and big windows looking out the course. My little ones were impressed. The greens were nice, not super fast, but perfect for me who has a super high handicap. We did 9 holes. Reasonable price. The fair ways are green and easy to see the transitions into the rough. Thank you!

I've been going to this course a little half a year, never had an issue before yesterday. What I use to love about this place was that if you and your buddies want a last minute tee time at a simple going course this place is there for you. We show up at 1:30 ask to walk on they said the next available tee time is 2:45. Weird but we accept and just hang out on the putting green. Some dude keeps coming up to us smoking clearly not a golfer but they were chitchatting with him inside so he must be a regular. About 2:30 we look over at hole 1 to see if we might be able to get on early, there's a group of 3 kids teeing off walking so we wait a couple more then head inside. Everything's going smooth until we once again go to tee off on 1. There's two more kids in addition to those 3. But they are barely teeing off while kids who previously tee'd off are finishing the green. 6 hits from each golfer later it's finally our turn. 3 men finished hole 1 before each of those kids even tee'd off on the next(we did have carts.) They were kind enough to let us go through, we rushed and went to hole 3. The next 2-3 holes our golf is constantly interrupted because these kids are hitting in our fair way taking their time on recovery shots. The kids were nice but still was less than enjoyable. We go along finish hole 8. It's about 3:50 we were told carts go in at 4:30. Instead of hitting hole 9, we wanted to change it for hole 2. No one is over there so we tee off on 2, about to finish up, haven't hit onto green yet. Before I continue I'm pretty sure the marshal is some older gentleman who wears a straw hat (no beard) I could be wrong. The poor excuse for a man that showed up yesterday to tell us to turn the carts in was overweight and had a beard. He already came with an attitude so I drive to go pick up my ball near the green. On my way back he yells at me "AND ILL MAKE SURE YOU GET BANNED FROM A CART FOR THAT MOVE YOU JUST PULLED RIGHT THERE!" I'm confused at the whole thing and asked him what I did, and according to him I did about 12 donuts in the middle of the green and messed up all of hole 3. After arguing back and forth with him about what I did I apologized sincerely, but he still had an attitude! I reply to him "if I drove on the green then my bad dude I didn't mean to ruin your day with that." He replies "you didn't ruin my day you ruined your day now your banned from cart." I replied "I didn't ruin my day I played good golf until you showed up."he was PISSED LOL. He replies "yeah well I'm still going to follow you guys in." He's speaks in a horrific unprofessional, immature tone like everyone should be kissing the feet he walks on. When I go inside he can even be man enough to look me in my face when I tell him to have a good night!! What a poor puss!! I would be embarrassed if I was River Oaks employing someone like this.

It's been a while but I always loved the driving range and putting area! I like that the range is lit up at night for evening sessions. I haven't been to Legends grill and bar yet, but I've heard it's really great too.

Nice green on the golf course. Not the best though. I like how nice they are too at the course/pro shop as it was pretty fast to book a tee time.

"Hi-ya!On Saturdays they have lessons for kids where a handful of local golf pros teach. They are kind, helpful and good with how they communicate with the kids. They let them putt and drive and it's for only $15 for the hour. This is really a nice way for the kiddos to get into golf amongst other kids their age and easy without pressure from a parent. It's easy to get to, just down Bradshaw and off Jackson. Overall really nice place to learn and practice and they have a beach hut deli for the snack and meal area."

"Definitely one of the best courses in the area. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.CONDITION:The course is always well maintained. The greens roll and the grass is cut nicely. When its not to windy, this is one of the best courses in the east bay! The holes use the natural curvature of the hills as a defense, making your lies different every shot. Additionally, they have some nice elevation changes with some nice elevated tea boxes and uphill holes. Lots of variety and well thought out!PACE OF PLAY:Can be a bit slow. But not the worse in the area. Typically around 4:30.RANGE:All grass range. Need to pay and not included with round. But its always in good condition and love practicing on real grass!FOOD:Typically bar type food and to-go food on the turn. Quick and easy, but nothing special.OVERALL:Must play in the east bay! Warning: can get very hot in the summer with no shade coverings."
"Love this course , friendly staff , great course conditions , organized and well run as a business. The food at the turn is excellent and I look forward to my next round there."
"Here's a funny review you can consider:---**Swanson's Golf Course: The Hidden Gem You Didn't Know You Needed**Swanson's Golf Course is like that secret diner with amazing food that nobody talks about--totally underrated! The prices are as affordable as finding a dollar in your couch cushions, and the staff? Let's just say they're friendlier than your grandma's dog. Now, let's talk about the course. They've got it all: a par three for those of us who just want to feel good about our short game, a traditional course for the brave-hearted, and soon a mini-golf to remind us we still don't have the coordination of a 6-year-old. It's perfect for the whole family, whether you're 8 or 80!The driving range, though...I don't know, maybe it's where balls go to retire? And call me paranoid, but when I pay cash for a bucket of balls, I can't help but wonder if they're secretly funding the cashier's next round of drinks. But hey, the putting green and chipping area are top-notch--so fancy they might as well come with a side of caviar. So if you're looking for a fun time without all the fancy and some laid-back vibes of hanging out in your buddy's backyard, Swanson's is your place."
"This is a great place. If you are a quiet tighty whitey golfer and can't handle large personalities, see you on Monday. The weekend brings characters out. Weekdays, more traditional with fast quiet play. Price is reasonable, course is in transformation to very good/excellent condition. Many iron skills needed here.. staff is FABULOUS and they added a beverage cart! Good fun! Smile and enjoy golf!"
"Will definitely recommend this place. Great service and a cool place to hang out. Great food!!"
"Nice community center with ample room to set up tables for guests to enjoy some food together. Also spacious enough to have separate seating areas for guests to socialize. A nice kitchen area and serving area for buffet tables and space for people to go down both sides. Could probably accommodate 100 peeps comfortably. Good spot for people to entertain if you live in that community!"
"My best friend (wife) and I played Mather Golf Course for the first time in over three years. We met two our friend there and had a great time. The folks in the pro-shop were helpful, courteous and efficient despite being very busy that morning. The golf course itself was in good condition despite the CA drought and wildfire related smoky skies. My girl played from the forward tees and noted several times that she did not get much/if any advantage except for one or two holes on both the front and back nine. From my perspective, the few advantages she received with respect to yardage, more than made up for the fact that most of the other holes were equally spaced out.The pace of play was good. Sand trapes could use new sand or a little more racking. Some very wet spots were noted but hard to avoid in the extremely hot weather and ""green"" fairways""."
"We had a great time with our grandsons at Wild Wings Golf Club. It needs some loving care and Jesse is doing just that! Let's help him and save this course!"
"Great place for a quick few swing of golf any day of the week. Easy 9 hole with beautiful well kept greens. Definitely recommend making reservations."
"When I got invited to play here I wasn't expecting much since in my mind it was "only a nine hole" but what a pleasant surprise. Very nice course that is a par 36. It was, dare I say, a cute course. Lol. But if you play the back tees then it is decently long. It was not flat at all with quite a bit of rolling hills. Greens were pretty fast and look like they were in the last stages of healing from aeration. I would totally come back to play here. The patio looked nice at the clubhouse to have a beer in the shade watching people tee off on number 1. Good times! Finished our round in 2 hours and 10ish minutes on a Friday evening."
"When I decided to play golf my husband said I needed to get professional lessons. I called Lance and set an appointment to get started. Lance is very patient and makes learning enjoyable, he is so knowledgeable and focused on you as a student to learn every aspect of the proper way to golf. I have gone back to Lance for refresher lessons and my game has improved so much since going to Lance. Call Lance to get started or to get some tips, you won't be disappointed"
"Hi-all!So I am not good at golf. I can't even call myself a beginner, but I went to this 9-hole with a friends.First impression is that it has a nice hole in the wall feel. But it's not a small hole in the wall. The course is large enough and has enough challenges to make it fun for a varied level of players. All the holes are par 3, I think the longest distance to the hole os 193 yards, and the course is well tended. There is a reasonable sized putting area, but no driving range if you plan on practicing your long game. The lack of a driving range is not a game killer, but certainly would be a "nice to have", but not required. The pro shop area has alcohol, lessons etc., and the price we paid for a 3:30 on a Sunday was $15 a person. You can easily walk the course, but carts are a available. We walked it and finished it in just over 1.5 hours--casually.Anyway, honestly a fun course and very well catered for people like me that aren't good and don't want to be rushed. We had a great time and expect to return. The only reason why I can't rate a full 5 stars is because the lack of a driving range. I know it may seem unfair, but just my opinion. Otherwise great parking options and great place to play a short round."
"Finally got a chance to give this place a try. Nice brand new mats with no grooves in them. Yardage markers down the center of the green grass. One machine to buy balls from that takes cash or card. Only downside is just a hand full of mats. If it's busy you'll be waiting. Plus side they the have a very nice, soft putting green on the side to knock the ball around a little."
"It was a religious experience. To be able to golf in such a humbling environment as towering redwoods, mirror ponds, grand views of the Calaveras foothills and snow-capped Sierras, took turns as being host from hole to hole. And there was hardly anybody there on a Sunday afternoon, which is unheard of for any city golfer like myself. It was like having your own personal course. It is a shorter executive 18 hole course with a lot of par 3's and only one par 5. A par 60 if you will, but that by no means translate into an easier round. Challenging elevation changes and narrow holes makes command of your game a premium.Outside of the sheer beauty of the terrain and architecture of the course, it could use better maintenance. Lot of the greens were scarred and the sand traps were closer to hard clay traps. Maybe it is just remnants of a wet and cold winter, it may well look a hell lot better in the height of summer. But for $26 to walk on this peaceful and breathtaking course, how can one lose. A recharge for the soul is what this place brings. Just in time to end a great weekend."
"The last time I've been here was probably 20 years ago. The course itself was okay...not the best maintained. We are in the middle of a months long heatwave and yet some parts of the course are flooded and muddy. The bunkers are inconsistent as some are sandy and others are hardpan. There are a few weird gimmicky holes but nothing stands out that are amazing or gorgeous. Pin placement on some of the holes was dumb. No way I had a shot at the hole. Had to putt onto the rough just to putt it back up the green. The 18th however was one of the most fun I've had. This course rewards straight hitters and punishes higher handicap players. Driving through neighborhoods is a little weird, but that's how Castle Oaks is. Snack shack service could have been better. I know she's trying her best probably. I'm not asking to be treated like a king. I just don't like getting treated like an annoyance. This course is closest to my house, so I'll likely come play again, but I'm not sure how often or who's going to come play with me"
"Used to play here a lot. I normally walk, but when it's 104° I'll ride. They upped their fees lately. $35-40 for nine holes with a cart is crazy for this course. You can play an actual golf course that has beverage carts, has a full driving range and doesn't have morons picnicking in the fairway for that much lol. Dumb business move with how many courses are around honestly.Four stars bc it's usually in decent shape, but it's typically slow and for $70+/18 there are better courses around here to play by a long shot"
"We stopped here for breakfast while visiting Copperopolis and were so glad we did! To start, this is just a beautiful facility. The setting is lovely and the restaurant looks out over the golf course. We greeted promptly and shown to a very nice window table. Our server was lovely, very friendly and super efficient. I had literally one of the best breakfasts that I have ever had. Everything was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Mine was the basic 2 egg breakfast with bacon and the country potatoes while my husband had the ricotta pancakes. Don't sleep on the country potatoes, these were the star of the show. This is a great stop for any meal. You don't need to be a member to eat at the restaurant which is wonderful. Highly recommend!"
"Older but nice. We came here while visiting my Bf's Mom who is a member. You can tell that everyone is friendly and knows each other and probably all members for a long time. We came to have dinner one night which was nice. It was enjoyable, they had good drinks, and the food was pretty good too. Nothing grand or spectacular but good. Will have to spend some more time here next visit and try out the golf and maybe tennis and get a look around the place. It seems beautiful here.."
"The coaches for the kids lessons are great. My son loves it. They're very nice and friendly. What's irritating right now is that I'm hearing 3 employees cussing like there's no tomorrow right by the outside patio seating area. Super loud. Every other word is a swear word. I get it, you're on break but you're still on the premises within earshot of your customers. It's not like I don't swear but still. Even people who are putting at the range part are looking back to see where the noise is coming from.3 stars for the coaches and owner though who have been nothing but nice.Edited to add:Jeff reached out to me via email letting me know that he had spoken with the staff mentioned. It sounds like they are separate from the golf course (eatery/cafe staff?). Thank you Jeff for taking care of the situation! Your patrons shouldn't have to hear what I experienced yesterday."
"Can we get 6 stars? Please?!Shadow Lakes is now the BEST golf course in brentwood. Offering 18 holes of challenging golf. Very good conditions for a Muni... infact, at the moment it is in better condition than the local Country Club I am a member with. The crew here cares about the course, the players, and the residents. I highly recommend coming out here... and be sure to tip your cart barn fellas!"
"St. Stanislaus golf course is a decent 9 hole course with a large driving range and a small practice pitching/putting area. The clubhouse is small, no food but they do sell drinks, beer included. The prices are reasonable, $28 for two to walk and play. It's an extra $28 for a cart but the course is so small you would be just wasting your money. The course is maintained well, the fairways are nice and greens are smooth. Majority of the holes are par 3's with a couple par 4's. Not too many hazards to worry about and all holes are straight shots. It's a great course if you want to play for cheap and not spend all day doing it. This is a perfect course to bring your kids who are learning to play, not too crowded and an easy course to learn on. It's cheap, it's close(for me,lol) and great for the whole family."
