"1st time here and definitely coming back! I had good service at both the deli in the back and at the cashier. Rather get my sandwich where than Subway!"
"This place is now called "Michael's Market" and it currently sells Shell branded gas. Years ago this was a Valero station w/ a food shop. I don't come out to Discovery Bay too much anymore, but I stopped by for some gas and snacks on a Monday evening. Michael's Market is like a convenience store (c-store), but it's loaded with beer, wine and tobacco items. It has a fountain area and wide variety of snacks and candy. For awhile it was the only neighborhood shop around. But now the Discovery Bay shopping center is right next door. Yes, I saw the Confederate flag. But the clerk was friendly and helpful. I was wearing my work uniform w/ ID. People with jobs usually have money to spend. Michael's Market is a well stocked c-store that can save you a trip down the road to the Safeway shopping center. Shell gas prices were about average for the SF Bay Area. Located on the corner of Discovery Bay Blvd & Riverlake Rd."

I love Michael's Market. They are right down the street from my house so I go there a lot to get essentials. They have a great selection of everyday items. I love that they carry flour, sugar, eggs, milk and so forth. I do half my grocery shopping there to avoid going to the Safeway. They will even carry wine brands that you suggest and other items. I love their selection of candy as well. I have a pretty big sweet tooth. I usually walk there to get my stuff since they are so close. I especially like their milkshake machine. Just pick your flavor and the machine mixes you a yummy milk shake! It's faster than waiting for a milk shake at Callahan's and just as yummy! It is really so much better than a normal gas station store. It's more like a NY bodega. The owner also slowly filtered out all the "old" employees that worked in the store from before he purchased it. The old employees were kinda rude, mouthy and never wore masks. I literally watched one of them bitch out a customer just for asking her why she was not wearing a mask at the height of COVID. I was so happy to see ALL those people let go for people who were compliant with masks and not so entitled. Great little shop. I will continue to go there in the future.
