He told me they would be family heirlooms and would last forever! Well it's been about 15 years and they are as strong and as sturdy as ever! He was so nice to work with and a gentle soul! I have some repairs and some other items I bought elsewhere that I would like him to look at and repair! Please tell me you are still open Michael Jon????"

Orangen B. "This was a great way for us to try something new. Creating a mosaic was very unique and fun for a relaxing Saturday.Roberta (very friendly!) got us a spot via email. We arrived a little before 10:30am on Saturday. There were four other groups but we didn't have to share a table with anyone. There were adults, kids, and families. After five minutes of instructions, we got started.Making a mosaic entails gluing pieces of glass (it's safe) onto a canvas utilizing different pieces and colors. You can be as creative as you want. We got the 7x7" board which is fine for a beginner. We spent over three hours here! Time flew by so quickly. At the end, I was pretty exhausted and hurried even though there was no time limit. Three hours for the price was well worth it just for the experience of doing something cool with my partner and making something we could keep. The drive was the only thing that we could say was not great, but everything else was satisfactory. Thanks to Roberta for making this such a fun experience for us."

Terry T. "There are many interesting sites along the River Roads winds along the Sacramento River. None of them had fascinated me more than the building this gallery is housed in. For years I've stopped to photo this yellow tiled building and its red doors. I was concerned when I notice that the doors had been painted and the windows in the doors were no long covered with faded Chinese newspapers. I always thought that the building was a long abandoned restaurant. I was wrong. The gallery is housed in a building that has been has been described alternately as a joss house, a Chinese Free Masonry Hall, and a benevolent tong association building. The building looks small but it is roomy inside. There is a large kitchen and the bottom floor opens on Main Street and the there is a balcony that also looks out of the street. The gallery had a different artist featured on each floor. If you are not in the market for a painting or iron work, there was also cards and jewelry. Or maybe just enjoy the building.A trip to Walnut Grove makes a nice day trip. There are other galleries in the small towns that line the River Road and a few iconic restaurants to enjoy a meal."

I used DISCOVER AND GO and got two free passes! The current exhibit is "Sweet 'n Low" an international Show of Cute(June 22nd to August 27, 2017)The exhibit features work from over 130 local, national and international artists.Cute and awwwww to macabre and ewwwww. Although most of the artists' names aren'tones you recognize there is a wonderful drawing by Margaret Keane "Girl with Cat."Different media from painting, watercolor, collage, sculpture, sewn and knitted works, will evoke, smiles, giggles, gasps, amazement and more feelings than one has felt in a long time.I love this kind of art where it is fun, bizarre, quirky, and amazingly awesome. Not to be a snob but classic art forms and well known works take a back site to this funart. i've seen many exhibits here. It is a small but lovely --a bright very approachable space. The volunteers here are very friendly. My only gripe is that the exhibits ere there for onlya short time (4-6 weeks). The regular admission is $5? Free with your Discover and Go Pass.I took some photos that may not entirely reelect the spirit of this exhibit. Please forgive the blurriness."

Kandy F. "We came to an event here last weekend. The building was beautiful and well maintained. They have lots of beautiful antiques. Obviously, the building itself is for rent. When you rent it, you will have to bring your decor and decorate to your theme activity. You will also have to pack all your stuff before your rental schedule is over. As you enter the front entrance, it is a nice size room to setup tables and an area to bring your own band or DJ. There is also a back area with couches and such. That area has doors that open into a nice patio area as well. Ample space for a party. They have air conditioning and high ceiling fans. It has been triple digits heat wave so it felt like no air was running. When we chatted with some folks under the ceiling fan, it was instant relief!! My GPS brought me to pull in to the side of this building. The parking here is numbered for the condos here. Go directly across the street to park. A BONUS for downtown area. It's a small parking lot but it seems ample enough. There's also street parking as well. Overall, this was a GREAT choice to rent for a wedding, anniversary, birthday, company party and more. I don't know how much they charge since I was only the guest."

They had a sale going on in the back with tons of great deals (like $2 for a giant zip lock bag) full of craft and scrapbook supplies or paints and other artist supplies. Everyone was really friendly - there were three older ladies there the day we stopped by - and offered to help or answer any questions. They had some neat art for sale by local artists and we enjoyed our visit."

When I visited, they had an African exhibit, displaying African art and a short movie. Parking was free when I visited on a Sunday. I'm not sure if that's usually the case with this school.Would recommend stopping by if you're in the area, but wouldnt go out of my way just to see the museum."

We brought it to The Flipper Room and they did a lovely job. After dropping it off, we spent some time checking out their games, and were excited to play some more when our poster was ready to pick up a few weeks later. While I am not particularly good at pinball, I had a lot of fun which is what matters most. My favorite table was Blackbeard, followed closely by any of the dinosaur-themed ones, and my honey's was Alice Cooper. Bring some dollars to get quarters from their machine and play away!"

I found this out when I went to the Grand Opening of School Street Gallery at 123 'South' School Street (not to be confused with the funeral home at 123 North School Street). It isn't a very large shop, but has a wonderful selection of photography, paintings, ceramics, and glass creations, from several different artists.I came away with a small, beautiful, fused-glass box, and I look forward to returning so I can see what's new in future.Right now their sign is just a temporary one, which makes them not to easy to spot, but they are located between Porters Pub, and Synowicki's Jewel Box on the corner of School and Walnut."

If you're ever struggling, Kristy is very approachable when it comes to helping her students -- which is a key factor in ANY instructor! She also offers incredible and unique works made by her own hands that are worth every fair cent for such fine quality art. I love that her offered wares are so versatile, so you are bound to find something you would love yourself! It is worth mentioning that The Black Sheep's Ink is a small business ran by one of the most honest and hardest-working artists you could meet -- so if you're all about small businesses, The Black Sheep's Ink is where your attention should be. I especially love her portrayal of faces and animals; whenever I see a face painted by Kristy, I know immediately it is her work. Please do your soul a favor and enlighten it with a visit to The Black Sheep's Ink some day!"

Toni M. "Though I attended DGD's 5th grade school play in this theatre 3 years ago, this review is for the Art Gallery and its current show of Bay Area glass artists. I had read a newspaper article last month about a 10 year old boy who blows glass and whose work would be shown alongside established artists, some of whom he has studied w/. http://www.contracostatimes.com/ci_17586973?IADID=Search-www.contracostatimes.com-www.contracostatimes.com&nclick_check=1 The gallery and theatre are w/in walking distance of Tam's home and I was reminded of the exhibit when we drove by last Friday. We made a date to meet for lunch yesterday and Tam and I would go to the exhibit afterward, while DGD visited w/ a friend and Alan went to another appointment. We walked into the gallery, a bright, open space. The first works we saw were large glass pieces of fruit and other, related pieces by Michael Cohn and Molly Stone. I was delighted to see works by Randy Stone, whose work I've known since the 80s and whom I've watched blow glass at his Berkeley studio years ago. Blue Wind, a recent piece of his, probably the most expensive in the gallery at $13,000, was one that begged to come home w/ me and if I had limitless wealth and limitless space it would have done so. Works ranged from funky and funny to elegant. Several artists were familiar to me, but a surprising number were not. David Lindsay was a new-to-me artist whose work whispered to me seductively and Demetra Theofanous, Mary White and George Jercich were all people whose work I liked and w/ whom I was unfamiliar. Glass related videos are showing on a TV in a cozy space on the upper level. It's a lovely, lovely show, worth more than one viewing. The show was curated by Ann Corcoran and Randy Strong. The visual arts coordinator is Amy Miller, who greeted us warmly and chatted w/ us about the art. Theo Hanks, the youngster featured in the news article, is pictured w/ Dale Chihuly and one of his works, an assembly of three nested shapes, clearly showed Chihuly's influence and was good. His other pieces held their own w/ the work of the more established artists. It's an excellent show and I hope to return to see it after we return from our upcoming European trip. There will be a glassblowing exhibit May 7th, the final day of the show."

Steven G. "Not quite ready to give up the immersion into the arts, we sauntered down the street from TCM to check out what Mistlin has to offer. For what it's worth, the space is huge and you're welcomed instantly by oversized paintings, pottery and sculptures. We walked in and it was eerily quiet with a small hint of people either getting ready for a class in the next room over or stragglers. Also bringing up the rear was a woman who sat silently in a chair amongst 10-20 other chairs in the middle of the gallery, no eye contact, no interaction at all. They have a counter where I would imagine the receptionist or museum greeter would sit but it lay bare for the time being. My date and I immediately took it upon ourselves to just make our visit a feast for the eyes with some lulled commentary. As i mentioned before, the pieces were grand and looked like there was a lot of passion put into every one of them. Broad brush strokes, fits of violent blotting, it was all there and you could almost feel the emotion yet the place as a whole was still sterile. Some of the paintings I could envision on my walls but I made a haughty comment that I'd rather have my Disneyland Attraction posters framed and placed all over the walls in my cave. Nonetheless it may very well come to be that one of those pieces could throw the Happiest Place on Earth motif into a frenzy and there's nothing wrong with a little chaos now and then.As we explored every inch of this place we noticed the aforementioned counter/desk had a warm body in it all of a sudden. Yes she looked as if she had blood coursing through her veins but silence and I'd imagine social media was her jam. Head down. Not a peep. Not a look. Hashtag nointeraction, ya dig? Oh yes but the violet blonde locks were somewhat becoming. In any case I do plan on coming back and I might just make it a solo run too so I can take in everything and maybe get a gift or two for my art-loving friends out there. Yeah, I'm great like that!"

A new age, funk jazz group that I see making some huge hits in the very near future. They really had a unique look and sound. The theatre also offered a few local wines and micro beers, along with an assortment of different soda's.
