I rarely give a bad review; only when it's richly deserved. In this case, it's Caveat Emptor--let the buyer beware. Suggest you unsuspecting boaters get a clear understanding IN ADVANCE of the work to be done and a reasonable price estimate. I didn't do a good enough job of that. Yesterday, January 31, 2024, I brought in a fishing boat and trailer I bought new a few months ago. It needed the recommended 20 hour service on a Yamaha 150. That's exactly what I asked Lenny for, nothing else. What I got was a $418 bill. "Huh, how could it be this much?!" I asked. Lenny sez "Well, parts alone are over $100 and prices have really gone up." Besides, he sez, they checked the air on the trailer tires and did something with the water separator on the boat. None of which was needed or requested, on a brand new boat and trailer. I paid the bill, got the boat back on the hitch, and left. After all this "fine service," even to my trailer, my wife noticed during pick up that one of the side running boards had lost its lag screws during a minor loading mishap at the boat ramp just prior to transport to Buck's. One end of the board was hanging loose. Never noticed or mentioned--let alone repaired--during the service.Shelling out a vastly inflated service charge isn't going to break me. But running a seemingly reputable service shop, and an authorized Yamaha dealer, shouldn't be a license to charge for work never needed or requested. I won't be back to Buck's.

Tried to buy my parts local but this place was a joke. Called for a throttle control, the woman that answered would not listen to the one I need. Finally a guy got on the phone and instantly said I have to order it. Ok fine, I can wait to support local instead of huge A corporation. He hands me back the woman, I asked how king it will take? "I don't know" how much is it? "I don't know". I stress I want to get it ordered today and I am told that she doesn't know if that's possible to order today. What? It's 10am, not even east coast shipping cut off. She asked for a number to call me back at, I asked if it will be today. "I don't know, but in the next couple days"Way to drive people to the online A store.

I'm amazed that so many people love this place. Maybe if you just have them service their boat it's okay, or maybe they just have a lot of friends to put In a good word, but if you are ordering parts prepare for a nightmare. I ordered a small part for the cowling on my Mercury 25 from here. After getting the run around off of several calls to their office, they said they ordered the part. When I come to their shop, the part they ordered was wrong. When I brought this up he immediately implied that I gave him the wrong part number ( Which we had discussed on the phone, as I was trying to ensure that I was ordering the right part) and rudely told me it wasn't his problem. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and I had to deal with him. Eventually got my part from West marine, and when he called to tell me that it came in to his shop, he was a total jerk on the phone. This guy is definitely one to avoid.

I'm a new owner of a 20 year old fishing boat powered with two outboard motors. I do all of my maintenance on this boat and needed to find a business to help this DIY'er with parts and occasionally advise. I chose Buck's Outboard because the conversation I had (over the phone) with counter clerk Ashley. She was very polite, knowledgeable and professional. I've been to Buck's on two occasions, during the second visit I was helped by counter person Glen. I needed some tuneup parts and Glen was very polite, knowledgeable and professional. There was a steering linkage part I need for my motors and Glen was very concerned about me getting the correct part. Glen went above and beyond by calling the manufacturer to make sure this part will work for my motors. I will continue to use Buck's Outboard Repair and I recommend Buck' to everyone that needs a highly professional Outboard Motor parts. Thanks Ashley and Glen for all your polite professional service

Love Bucks, its where I go to get my Yamaha parts. I work on my own stuff but know people who have had their boat work done at Bucks, most all happy and I know personally of one dissatisfied customer. If you get an estimate I don't know how people claim to be ripped off. The same guy's have worked/own here at Bucks so they have plenty of experience, which I like, they are straight shooters, if your looking for someone to make love to you go to one of those fancy boat shops that advertise Yamaha parts and have nothing in inventory besides some wake boards and life vests. For myself, I am very thankful we have a Buck's to go to - it' why I support places like Bucks. I can save 2 dollars on a 22 dollar Yamaha water separator/filter going online but that is ONLY if there is no shipping costs. Went to Bucks today-Yami filter, Yami oil, Yami case lube and gaskets, one trip-one hour - working on the boat - ready to fish!
