Beautiful facility. I DJ'd a cotillion (18th birthday) at this beautiful facility. Load-in/out was easy (one level) and many options for easy setup and teardown.

We had a very positive experience with the community center. We worked with Jun who was super helpful in coordinating and processing our reservation. The process was clearly communicated and they managed our event seamlessly. I would absolutely use their facilities again and consider it a gift to the community. Thanks again!

Community Center & Park Rental.Just completed a delightful wedding - Outdoor ceremony in the park followed by 250 person reception in the community center. Nice facility.. Very nice facility (positive comments at the end) ... but ridiculous red-tape and management. Government bureaucracy at its worst.1. The Park & Rec department will not allow you to communicate with the bureaucrat who makes decisions to work through "a plan." He is isolated and unapproachable. All communication must go through a representative "Mac" who will not make any decisions, only says he will "forward your written plan" to the "approver". C'mmon It's a WEDDING! And You are a public employee! This kind of isolation deserves a reprimand and censure from the City Manager and City Council.2. They fear that normal wedding chairs in the park will damage the turf. They could not provide information of "approved" type chairs. After many calls and emails we found there are only 96 in northern California for rent with a bottom bar, instead of individual feet. (A rental place in San Mateo) . No other party-rental place has these in SF Bay area. So, our solution was to slice 20 foot long 2" ABS-DWV black pvc-like pipe in half and use the resulting 20' "trough" as a way to protect their lawn. They approved this additional $250 expense and we were able to use regular wedding chairs with their feet in the "trough". Guests didn't actually notice. That was nice. The next day, we offered to let them HAVE these 24 "lawn-protectors" so that they could make more $$ with weddings and protect their lawn" but no staff person was willing to receive this gift, and NOT WILLING TO CALL a manager on the weekend to get approval to accept this free gift. (You may now rent these from Elegance Party Rentals, in Concord... we gave them to Diane there.) 3. They would not give us access for setup until 3 PM, even thought there was nothing going on in the community room and no one using the building. "Rules are rules"... "You're only paying for rental from 3 until 1 AM, so we won't let you in one-second earlier for any setup." (though they did let us start wrapping lights around poles in the hallway 15 minutes before this.) But "Don't set foot in the community room until 3 PM or we'll charge you!".4. They watch over you during setup like hawks. Creepy.5. At the end of the night, after we had carefully removed all lighting, and tape (they govern what kinds of tape they allow.) we left and after packing my van at 1:15, Went back to the staff and asked if we were all checked out and if there was anything amiss, not clean or perfect. The person said everything was "fine", but had a little hesitation in her voice. So I requested to be shown what wasn't perfect. She said there was some marks on the anodized window frame. Upon close examination these small marks turned out to be dirt or sheet-rock paste from the original construction and rubbed off with a wet finger. She said she would remove the comments on the facility-use report. I requested to see that report. They had drawn a diagram of the arches and had arrows pointing to this dirt mark. THEY WERE GOING TO BILL US FOR ADDITIONAL CLEANING COSTS OR DAMAGE!!! She crossed all this off and then I took a picture of the report because she couldn't make a copy for me. HOLY COW! THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE US FOR THIS! This is so illegit! I think this is the same person who came by at 12:15 when we were carefully removing all lights and tape from the arches (two were completed, cleaned, perfect) and working on a third, and told us to take off all the tape - even though that is already what we had done for the previous two perfectly-clean arches and were continuing to do. Irritating, rude.6. Not all of the wall outlets work. I brought in an electrical tester when something didn't power up and found a dead circuit. They couldn't find a way to hot it up, so stretched out an ugly orange extension cord for us. OK thank you. But please make sure this and a couple other outlets get fixed. So bottom line on the negatives ... Their interaction skills and approval processes need a total overhaul. Now, on to the really cool things.1. AV systems in the community room. Nice. two Hi-Def, almost-bright-enough video projectors flawless. They provided a laptop to interface to it as well. Nice.2. They provided some nice poles to mount on stanchions which we draped LED lights from and made the place look great. They required that we bring our own sandbags for stability (Holzmueller Productions in San Francisco was the best price on these.)3. They have plenty of power everywhere (except the dead outlets.)4. When we brought in some steel stands, they quickly ran an got some nice protective pads. Wish we had known earlier about these.5. Plenty of well-placed power in the park area.6. Their kitchen is very good, big, ample. Their community room is beautiful. The place is clean. Parking is limited
