This place is fun. We did not plan ahead enough to buy the holiday train ride at night but we did the regular train ride -- only $4 for like 10 minutes. It goes around the park with a bunch of little cars; it "reverses" itself at both ends of the track when you are first getting on the ride. This is worth it.The carousel is just that going round and round, at the same price for $4 (which I thought should have been $3 or less). It was fine. The guys running it were nice.We did not eat at the food/snack booth but the prices were very reasonable/low, like a few dollars for a hamburger. People also brought their own food in to eat on the picnic tables. This place has a playground (for littler kids) and lots of space to hike.

This place is a gem in Los Gatos! We take my son here whenever we get a chance. There is also a carousel next door and lots of parks and areas for families and kids. The railroad "workers" are great and one of the guys even told us a great story about the history of the railroad and how the maker also helped out Disney with the railroad at Disneyland!

So enjoyable! Not quite the train ride we have in Sonoma , but still very delightful. The tickets are only 4$. I found that quite cheap. The line appears long but moves quicker than it appears. We went w 3 adults no kids (my brother is a fan of trains). Its not just a ride for kiddos

Got there right when it opened on a Saturday and waited only 10 minutes. The train ride itself is nice and slow that's safe for little babies and a good portion of the ride was in the shade.

This is a fun activity. Lasts 8-10mins with 2 rounds around the park. The wait times can get longer as the day progresses on the weekend. We waited 30mins on Saturday closer to lunch. But the kids loved it. I enjoyed it as well. And it's easy on the wallet as well at $3 per person. This train ride is accessible without necessarily need to pay for parking at Vasona Lake park. Would likely do this every time we visit the park.

This review is primarily about the carousel. Anything else is tacked on at the end.A rare example of a clockwise merry-go-round in the US! All but about 4 of the horses look at home on it as well, with their manes, faces, and more detailed carvings ("romance side") facing outward to their left. So much attention to detail evident in this restoration, including names for every horse and paintings on the inside of the rounding boards. The horses are from 3 or 4 different makers but all seem to be antique, at least from the companies/carvers C.W. Parker, Lines Bros, and Dare. Circuse themed imagery is all over the carousel and inside the carousel house. The cherry on top is the replica Wurlitzer band organ, which tends to run on weekends and upon request! Not only does it work, but it has a wide variety of songs, from classics to popular 60s songs turned into organ music not found on any other antique carousel in the Bay Area. During summer break it is open every day of the week. The staff are friendly but may not know much about the history of the carousel.Meanwhile, the train area had knowledgeable operators that were happy to answer all sorts of questions and even tour the train building.Patrons with disabilities ride free on the train and the carousel, and you can ask for the wheelchair accessible train car. There is no ramp for the carousel, however. Decent amount of free street parking, and a paid parking lot.
