He couldn't resist the water, but be warned! They will have a strong "sea smell" from this beach/shore.

Life's a beach, enjoy the waves! Okay, I just made that up...but, it sounds cool, right? I know! :) If you think that was cool, then you must check out Benicia Public Pier & Beach!Beautiful views (including Carquinez Bridge in the distance, mountains, Amtrak was chugging along in the far distance also!), ocean air, and a breeze. It was pretty cold and foggy when I first arrived. Then, the sun peaked out more and got some vitamin D. I took a nice stroll on the sidewalk that winds around the pier and by a restaurant and some homes. The ocean view stayed front and center the entire time. There wasn't many people there at the time I went. It felt like I owned the area to myself for a little bit :)There's street parking (free). There were benches all along the sidewalk and the pier, if you just want to sit and watch the ocean waves.I definitely will be returning for some more Vitamin sea time! :)

I love walking around this area! It's a little hidden gem away from the crowd. While walking alongside the back trail you get to see a statue called "Neptune daughter" & In the far distance you can see the Carquinez bridge.

Visiting this area can sometimes feel like you're in a city far from the Bay Area. Very nice area to ride a bike or walk and view the inland bay and Carquinez and Benicia/Martinez bridge and Mt Diablo on a clear day. There are restaurants and shopping areas nearby and not crowded at all on any given day. The pier has a small parking lot but there is also street parking as well.

Late Post!Ello, beautiful and hidden pier/beach. With the ringing in of 2021, it's a good time to leave all the petty mentalities behind (and possibly people heh heh). But all in good jest, the fact that we are entering a new year only acts as a spur to continue to be grateful and to explore the great scenes in nature. After grabbing some coffee, we ended up wandering through downtown Benicia. And Benicia Pier ended up being a pleasant surprise. You get a great view of the bridge in the distance as well as a breath of a fresh air as you take in the breathtaking view of the wide expanse of water in front of you.Benicia Pier borders residential homes, but access is free and well...easy! The sidewalk doesn't extend too far, but it's definitely worth visiting Benicia Pier just for the views.

** The following review reflects my personal experience prior to the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** I probably shouldn't describe Benicia as a sleepy town, but hey, if the night cap fits, well... Now that's not to say it's not charming. It is. There's a gazebo in a park, a Rite Aid, and... oh yes, the stroll down the main thoroughfare, First Street, all the way to the pier and a somewhat nondescript beach. It faces Carquinez Strait and Martinez and Port Costa on the other side. Unless you fish, you won't be here long, even if you do stop at the visitors center to get a bit of city history. But it's a relaxing way to spend a Saturday morning.RELATED - Headed north of the bay? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2tIHlkV

This is an peaceful little spot to take your pooch for a walk. I stopped here last month on a weekday and there was lots of available parking, but I have been previously on the weekend and there was none, so if you come during a busy time you may end up doing a lot more walking but considering was a nice area this is, who cares? There are always people and their dogs near the water because pups can be off-leash there and play in the waves. I opt to keep my girl on a leash and enjoy the breeze and views walking the pier. There are bathrooms, which is a plus and some picnic tables and benches as well. Again, weekdays and weekends can be like night and day as there was absolutely no one fishing when I was here on a weekday but it was packed with fisherpersons on the weekend. If you can visit during an off time, I highly recommend it.

Who would have thought that lil ol' Benicia would have such an adorable beach and pier? Sure it's not like the beaches that you'd find on the coastline, but that doesn't make it any less beautiful. Go for the sunsets. Go for the nice little walks around the pier. Go for relaxation. Just go. I love that this beach is so close by. Not that I don't enjoying going to the beautiful beaches that are a bit farther, but why go so far when I don't have to? It's just a quick trip over the Benicia Bridge and you're there. This is the perfect spot to escape during a hot summer day in the East Bay. There's always a nice breeze and it'll definitely keep you cool. On the contrary, it does get pretty chili when the sun goes down. A sweater is a must unless you enjoy freezing your tushy off. But back to those sunsets; they're pretty magical. On a clear day, you'll have really pretty views of the Carquinez Bridge in the distance. The waves flow a bit faster at this beach, but it's really peaceful. Speaking of that, I've never seen this spot really busy. Maybe a few people here and there for a short time, but that's pretty much it. The pier is close to the downtown area, so you can always stop by before or after your visit to the city. They light up the walking path along the pier at night. If you can withstand the breeze, the views are actually quite darling. Sometimes I don't want to drive out to Marin or the city for some beach play. And luckily for me, I have this beach and pier nearby to satisfy me on those occasions.

First time coming here and reminds me of all the ports ive been too. Love the smell of antiques and the ocean and also gourmet foods along the street. They have cute boutique stores and also lots of history. Went to the museum on the street very interesting only 3 bucks for adults. Its small but you really feel the history walking in.
