About 7 years ago in the first weeks of mine and my husbands courtship we took a stroll on this very pier. We walked all the way down to the end and sat on the benches there and talked and gazed out at the rolling water. It was mid summer and nice and warm out even at 9pm.The sad thing is, he didn't even try and kiss me there on that bench. He was such a gentlemen that he didn't even try to make a move on me even though it was the perfect moment. We came back again and walked hand in hand to that same bench. We sat and talked and gazed out at the water. Then I took the opportunity to grab his face and plant a big wet one right on his lips.Families and friends come here to fish. It can get pretty windy so don't forget to bring a coat and possible gloves and a scarf. You can see the Antioch Bridge very nicely on a clear day and the boats passing by are fun to watch too.So don't forget to reclaim those lost moments.

Any time of the day is a Great day to go FISHING :) even when it's windy..fish don't know it's windy. Be one in nature ..the fish God's will smile back at you. Today Monday - we had a fun day of fishing...lots of large mouth bass fish. For us we catch and release. :)Just a side note be sure to secure all items away in your car before you head to pier..seen lots of broken car glass on parking grounds. One person always has to ruin it for everyone else.. :(

Coming from San Mateo, this is not worth the drive. Yes, it is a convenient location with picnic tables and bbq spots, however, it get's very windy, a not too many people were catching anything, bathroom was dirty (ewweee), parking lot is small. The pier is small and crowded, but they do have benches with wind blocking windows while you wait for a bite, BUT there are only a handful of those, which usually are always taken. Summary - I won't be visiting here again.

Wonderful pier. This is where I come to clear my mind of the stress from daily life. Just sit relax, and watch the waves pass by. The scene is very beautiful when the sun sets on you or rises. Their is a amtrak station behind the pier, so every once in awhile a train will pass by blowing it's horn. The pier is pretty big with lots of space, but can become crowded at times. This is a great spot to visit with your significant other to just enjoy the scene, but watch out for the fishermen lol. Everything about this pier is great but; where the old bathroom was that is shutdown now, smells like urine and has numerous stains from it so watch out. Everybody I have ran into at the pier has been friendly, but you always get that occasionally crazy person. Enjoy your day at the pier !

Fun place to Pokemon! Lots of Pokemoners of all ages come here and sometimes food vendors show up. It's well lit and cops are conveniently present to keep the riffraff away.

Really, really fun. Every time I've been fishing there, I caught a ton of fish. However, if you're after the Striped Bass, you're going to catch mostly smaller fish that you have to throw back. Not to say there weren't people who did catch that 18 incher and bigger, because there were quiet a few of them. I just haven't been one of them. It's still way fun, and non-stop action. Constantly pulling fish out and re-baiting. Hardly a second to sit back and relax. Great way to spend a day.

Located on the beautiful Sacramento river, the Antioch public fishing pier offers spectacular views while waiting for a catch. The area is especially known for the striped bass that they stock near there. The pier itself is relatively small and is often crowed. The fish caught here tend to be smaller than other areas of the river. There used to be a bathroom, but the city shut it down after they ran out of funds to maintain it. The pier is also next to the railroad lines and you can expect loud clanging every 20 minutes. While the pier adds to the charm of the nearby Rivertown district, you're likely better off seeking an alternative if you're there for the fish.

Hi I am from Fremont and a Dunbarton pier regular which is closed. So I have taken some side trips to Antioch and have fished this spot and the big pier a few times in recent weeks. This spot you will catch a lot of shakers and some catfish. I lost a good sized striper that certainly was over 20" in a ratio of 1-100 keepers. The homeless crisis is spreading and there is a tent under the blue awning with someone living right at the 1st spot. I fished the other day and was approached for money by more than a half a dozen homeless some of them a bot scary. there was a younger woman wrapped in a sort of Kimono top over her jeans with nothing underneath walked a ways by and lowered the top and the entire lower portion of the jeans was cut away like chaps you could see everything, she is living at the foot of the dock and so for young kids this might not be appropriate. Also saw a car in the lot with rear window broken out and trunk lot drilled out. it was still there 3 days later. The other pier the big one is more family friendly open 24 hours and really crowded on weekends. It gets pretty tight mid week but is set up that even at low tide it is fishable. I have seen 8 keepers with two large stripers caught and i got two keepers myself. The ratio is still pretty close as there are a lot of rods in the water. But you do not have the homeless problem to deal with. As for me I will go to the big peir which is open 24 7 real early like 3 am and fish till 10 and it is windy too.

This pier is awesome! Super family friendly, great for kids! Sure it get's windy, but fish during the incoming tide, and the wind becomes a non issue.A license is required to fish here because it's inland from the Carquinez bridge.Frankly I can't think of any pier in the bay / delta area that produces such a large number of keeper stripers when they are in the area. Cast away from the pier for the larger fish. Fish under the pier for constant undersize fish which is great for kids.If fishing for the big ones you MUST have the proper bait, live bait if possible. Contact local bait shops for what's available. Cut anchovy rarely lasts long due to the tide, magic thread helps or brine your anchoviesOne last tip: Be sure to set a light drag while soaking your bait, fishing poles have been known to fly off the pier when a big one hits.
