My wife and I went to raft the Middle Fork river for our first ever white water rafting .We had a great time with our guides Claudia and Gator. Even though my wife had a scary situation being knocked off the boat on "catapult" and getting stuck between a rock and the falls, the guides were on top of it to help her out. Everything ended up well apart from that situation, and we would do the rafting again...... probably.

I came for a two day work retreat and loved it. Ronin, Regan, Jasmine and Lupin were the guides. It was a women's retreat and what a joy to have powerful, smart, personable female guides. They made the trip enjoyable and safe. We stayed overnight at a campground with tents and sleeping bags provided by the company. There is a community bathroom with showers. They cooked meals for us and we had make your own sandwich lunches. Wetsuits, lifejackets, and helmets are provided, with the safety equipment being mandatory. I had done the middle fork over 10 years ago and remember it being a great but a little scary experience. The south fork is less crazy and a great introduction to rafting. I had the opportunity to chat with Scott and he is such a nice guy, really invested in making the experience great for the guests. I highly recommend this company for work events as well as everybody else. Very kid friendly, I know this because when I did the middle fork years ago I had my young nephews with me and they had a great time.

A+++ I can not tell you how cool this was. Devin, Andie and Bryan were as cool, professional and friendly as can be. What an absolute blast. We were lucky enough to see Deer, turtles and blue heron. They served a nice lunch with fresh fruit, sandwiches and had some homemade pickles, pickled onions and hummus. WHAT A BLAS!!!!

Guys, this place was fantastic! Super easy to book, accommodating to my dang dietary needs, and the guides are AMAZING!!! I've done another trip on the American River before but this was my first time on the middle fork. Parts of it are not for the faint of heart. My pro-tip, don't watch videos!! Just sign up if you want to do it, know how to swim, and go! Don't overthink this one, lol. I think the pictures speak for themselves on how amazing the guide is and integral to the boat! We dubbed ourselves #teamstayintheboat and our guide, Jesse, successfully helped us make this happen! Super fantastic day and we can't wait to do it again! This part of the river does include class IV+ rapids but it sounds worse than it feels once you are live on the river. It all goes so quickly in those moments. Most important thing is when the guide says to do something - you do it! This is not the time to be a know it all; humble yourself and lend the shot calling to the experts and everyone will stay in the boat as desired. There are points to get out and float; the water is chilly so be prepared, lol. They feed you midday with a yummy lunch. Everyone is super friendly. It's really just an awesome experience!

My teenage son, his teenage friend, my mother (fit but in her 70s) and I really enjoyed our trip down the South Fork on Monday then the Middle Fork on Tuesday. Chloe took us down the South and Fred took us down the Middle. Both were so patient with us (we were a motley crew with mixed needs), professional, and fun! Chloe trained us on "the calls" and consistent safety skills and got us to work together paddling, necessary skills for the challenging Middle Fork the next day. Fred expertly guided us through the Class 4 rapids of the Middle Fork. They have a visual, hands-on approach to the big rapids which maximizes our safety, comfort, preparation, and enjoyment of the big rapids (having us walk out to look at the tunnel shoot before we rafted it). Never felt overwhelmed or unsure, only prepared and thrilled. They knew every twist and turn of this river and you will have a great time in their hands!

I'm _finally_ able to write a review for this company, after two years of trying to enjoy a rafting trip on the South Fork of the American River. Our first attempt in 2020 was thwarted by Covid, and our second was canceled due to last year's wildfires and horrible air quality. Thankfully, All-Outdoors was willing to credit us for our trip, and this past Memorial Day weekend we were able to make it up here. And indeed, it was well worth the wait.We came in a group of 3 families, with varying degrees of experience with whitewater rafting. As such, the South Fork was a good starting point, with mostly class 2 rapids and a couple of easy class 3s. We checked in at the AO headquarters in Lotus and got kitted out in wetsuits and life preservers, and then boarded the bus to go to the starting point. There were lots of different outfitters at the put-in point, but the process was orderly and efficient. It was a perfect day for rafting, with clear skies and temperate weather. Our guide, Steve, navigated us expertly down the river, making sure that we got sufficiently soaked whenever possible and keeping us entertained along the way. We learned much about the history and the geology of the area as well floated lazily down the calmer portions of the river. This was definitely a beginner's run, which was right for our group, and though they do give you plenty of crisis training (e.g. what to do if you go overboard), at no point did we ever feel at risk of getting ejected from our raft. After a couple hours we stopped for lunch, and the guides from the three boats on our float cut up watermelon and put out chips and then laid out a generous spread of cold cuts and vegetables for us to make our sandwiches. This was a nice leisurely break, and then we got back into our boats for the short trip down a considerably calmer stretch of river until we reached HQ again. The overall experience was excellent - enough excitement to make it worth it, but also some time for slow drifting and absorbing the beauty of the surroundings. At one point we were passed up by a large flotilla of rafts that seemed to be hurtling downstream, and we were glad that we weren't on one of those express boats. The staff was outstanding and easy to work with, particularly as we struggled to actually make this trip happen. Great attitude and humor; their enthusiasm for their work was evident and made for an especially enjoyable experience. I expect that we'll be back with All Outdoors on some of their more challenging trips.

Whew! Today was an absolute BLAST! My husband, 10 year old daughter, and I joined up with a lovely Canadian trio on the lower part of the American River. We had the great fortune of having Joey as our guide. We honestly couldn't have had a better person lead us in our first family adventure on the water! Joey was professional, comprehensive, and a lot of fun. We did the express trip with the level 2 and 3 rapids, and the trip exceeded our expectations. This was definitely the first trip of many and can't wait to book more for the 2025 season!
